I've never visited in person, but I order takeout from here regularly and my lowkey favorite: the blueberry muffin. Griddled with butter, it's the perfect mix of salty and sweet. Among other faves, the breakfast sandwiches on oversized English muffins are enormous and so satisfying, and the hash is excellent. The only thing I've tried that I haven't loved is the French toast, which could just be because it didn't hold up well during delivery (sort of ended up in a giant congealed mass). Overall, absolute win.

Super busy, local diner. Have the local contractors, neighbors, etc. all converging here. Enjoyed the eclectic mix of fellow diners. We ordered a wide range of meals to go for the family. Nice lady from Portugal behind the counter. I can understand tradition, keeping the essential, historical parts of the establishment. Now it's time to replace or even upgrade some items (counter, sign, so Mike's can keep going another ??? years into the future.

I've reviewed the food before, but since switching to mainly getting the corned beef I've hit some major issues. Namely that they use styrofoam to carry-out and will put the corned beef that sits on the hot grill getting crisp DIRECTLY onto the styrofoam with ALWAYS melts it and ALWAYS makes it taste like melted plastic (I.e: completely ruins it). They can't be bothered to line it with foil for things that have been sat in the grill.I've asked for that, and they never do. In fact, they don't read any requests for carry out. Want dry toast / toast without butter? No such luck. Prefer your eggs well done? Guess again. The fact that it always melts the container makes it frustrating that they can't figure it out. I end up having to throw out the entire bottom half of the corned beef every time.

The service here was great. If you speak Spanish, this place is a plus because 90% of the servers speak Spanish. However, the food was mediocre. I ordered a light breakfast, which was raisin toast with a fruit bowl. Unfortunately, the blueberries in the fruit bowl were shriveled up and I couldn't eat them.

While in town for a doctor's appointment, we decided to grab lunch, and our experience here was fantastic! The sense of community is evident, with staff recognizing regulars by name. The food surpassed expectations--generous portions and reasonably priced. The clam chowder was particularly outstanding. The attentive servers consistently refilled drinks and coffee, and they were especially kind to our toddler. We'd return without hesitation!

Honestly I haven't found a better place that I can go to cure my hangover. The coffee, the food, the vibes are immaculate for the morning after.I alwaysss get the corned beef hash (5/5) it's to die for. The home fries are also good, I usually get the grits and load em with butter and black pepper. This time i paired my hash with eggs benny which were pretty good.Only downside is they're getting more expensive especially with the 3% service charge added if you pay with card. Otherwise it's an easy 5 stars for me. It's a must visit for boston visitors and a locals alike!

Star of the meal was the hot chocolate. It's been a long time since I had one I enjoyed this much. The eggs and bacon were fantastic. The French Toast was not my favorite, I loved the flavor but it wasn't my style for consistency. It was a little flat but that's a personal preference. I would definitely go back!

I placed a breakfast order on Uber eats. The French toast wasn't made with bread slices it is some sort of weird battered almost pancake substance fused together. The pancakes, waffle and French toast didn't seem finished. Dry, no butter, no powdered sugar.The pancakes crumbled while I was eating they were so dry. And very thick and cakey, more like IHOP than a classic diner pancake. The waffle was way overpriced for a single 8" waffle The pancakes and "French toast" were not eaten by my family. Inedible.

We love Mike's City Diner, HOWEVER, Mike's (Jay) has some "food safety and personal/food hygiene" teaching to do with his staff, along with food safety practices that he needs to institutionalized in his business/diner.I ran into Mike's City Diner one afternoon, to pick up an order of grits and an iced coffee. The "counter" wait person, who handles take out orders, was sweeping the floor with a broom, when I walked in. She stepped behind the counter, took my order at the cash register, and without washing her hands, or putting on a pair of gloves, she proceeded to put her hands IN the container that would later hold the grits, and all over the cover for the grits. She did the same with the iced coffee. Just disgusting! What food service professional would put their dirty fingers inside a cup, or all over a lid (the same fingers that were wrapped around the broom, dirt, and Lord only knows whatever else). The wait person's dirty hands came in contact with the serving devices that held the grits and the iced coffee; in other words, she contaminated the allegedly clean serving devices, and made them dirty. GROSS! Jay, you need to pay attention, do some training, and implement the highest order of food safety and personal hygiene policies and protocols for your restaurant and staff.
