It's not often in Miami that you become entranced with service at a restaurant, but that is exactly what happened at Portosole last night.I have been hearing and reading for years that this spot was one of the best Italian spots in the Gables but I had never made my way there. Last night I made a reservation for my dad and I and then proceeded to have one of the most fabulous meals I've had in a while.Located in the Gables on Ponce right off the Mile, Portosole is an authentic, fine-dining Italian restaurant. I'm talking white tablecloths that they steam after each reservation (saw them do this), bread service, wonderful menu explanations and frequent (yet not annoying) from who seems to be the maître d', Ivan. My dad ordered a dirty martini which looked excellent and I stuck with bubbly water. The offer bread service as well as a plate of charcuterie and olives to start. A+We opted to split the baby artichoke salad to start which came with parm crisps and was refreshing, lemony and delightful. Then for dinner I ordered the Linguine alla vongole (clams). I saw you could add bottarga which is one of my favorite flavors and rarely on menus in Miami. If you haven't tried it, it's known as "golden caviar" because it is a way that preserve fish eggs to create salt-cured, air-dried roe from what I believe is mullet fish. Whatever fish it comes from, it adds a decadent salty flavor which I love. We also split the filet di branzino. The dinner came served tableside and they split both the fish and pasta dish into two separate plates for us. We finished the night with Tiramisu and Ivan brought us complimentary shots of Cremoncello. The food was so great that it will definitely have us coming back, but the service is what really impressed me. It had the heart of those old school places where everyone wants to know your name, your order and make you feel at home, but with the decor and service of a fine dining establishment. However nice the service was, it is not a place that is stuffy. The dining room was full of people you can tell come often, and the vibe is great. It is most definitely a good spot for dinner with the parentals, but a vibe for a nice date night or business dinner too. I wouldn't say that this is an inexpensive restaurant, but I also wouldn't say it is overpriced either. Entrees run from the $30-50, but are easily shareable. Unfortunately it has been my experience in Miami that sometimes restaurants like this can have an attitude if you don't order that many things or an entree per person so I was admittedly worried about my dad and I splitting three things and how they would react, but they treated us super well and it was a wonderful evening.Really enjoyed my experience here and cannot wait to return. The full bar is beautiful, so I definitely want to try and have a meal there in the future with a cocktail. Molto bene, Portosole!

I was invited to a private event here and I have to admit that everything was just perfect. From the eggplant parm to the grilled vegetables. They had great service and the place is very elegant and upscale. The bathrooms were spotless and the servers were all dressed like they mean business, and they did. Other plates that I tried were the caprese salad and the beautifully prepared cacio e pepe pasta. Portion sizes were just the right size. Loved the bar area here and I had a drink that was equally impressive. This spot has been quite a few other restaurants, but I feel that Portosole has it down pat.

Simply delicious Fried frittata to start with. Artichoke salad and then grilled salmon with an organic black rice. Salmon was cooked to perfection with the skin. I highly recommend this restaurant. Ambiance is great. Eugenio was very friendly. He made a special dessert for us: lemon sherbet with vodka & prosecco. Delicious!!!

I went there for Mother's Day. Service was impecable starting at valet , then Maître D welcomed us with our last names and a preferred table I requested for a family member . Food was exquisite, table service very European and fancy. Wine selection amazing! Ambiance was very fancy , and saw some friends, as well as other groups enjoying their meal and conversation. 5 stars !!!

This was one of the best dinning experiences I have had in Miami in terms of service. The staff from the moment you walked in were so welcoming and attentive. The owner came by at the beginning of the meal to say hello so I was already excited to try the food. I was so happy they had a vegan appetizers which was fried artichoke hearts with lemon and a dipping sauce. It was delicious and for my main I was eating light so I had a the salad with beets. They also could have made another pasta dish for me as well. My friends ordered Ravioli Di Ossobuco allo Zafferano and the short rib ravioli all which were fantastic! The best part of the table-side lemon gelato dessert drink with Prosecco, vodka and topped off with coffee beans. They also made me a virgin drink. The only thing which would have made it better would be to have had another vegan main on the menu. But they said they would make whatever I wanted! Amazing restaurant

Ok this is for my money the best Italian restaurant I've tried in Miami. The variety and creativity of dishes plus the quality of preparation and service are amazing. Some of my faves include the artichoke salad with parmesan crisps, the polpo alla genovese, and a must try is the pacherri di amalfi although the cacio y pepe is pretty outstanding too oh and the branzino is superb too. Finish it off with any of the desserts - the panna cotta is awesome and you totally have to do the scgroppino - like where else can you get that made table side?

I went for lunch and it was delicious. The salmon was perfect. The prices are on the higher end but it was worth it. The service was also great.
