"I would give it 5 stars but the lady behind the counter wasn't the nicest. With that being said the food was outstanding. I ordered the large oxtail. I've had it at a soul food restaurant where I live and it was good, but this was the bomb. I ordered the large and while I didn't think it would be enough, I was wrong. Along with the rice and beans with gravy totally awesome. The salad on the side helped to cleanse the pallet until I pushed it into the wonderful tasting gravy. All I all a great meal."
"Food is Amazing !!! Curry was flavorful and had a little bit of spice, veggies were good and I usually don't like Jamaican rice but there rice is actually good! Customer service is excellent!"

Visit Restaurant Page"I After dirr Sipsip Calypso Rum Bar tonight, perched atop the newly revamped Mayfair House Hotel & Garden, seeking a quiet refuge after a delightful dinner at Chugs. The Grove was unusually tranquil, with only a smattering of tourists and snowbirds meandering about.Entering the lobby, I was immediately struck by the changes since my last visit. The hotel had undergone a complete makeover, exuding a fresh, modern vibe. As I ascended to the rooftop, anticipation bubbled within me, eager to see what awaited.Stepping onto the rooftop terrace, I was greeted by a transformed Sipsip. The bar sparkled with newfound splendor, inviting me to pull up a stool and unwind. Behind the bar stood Steve, whose friendly smile and infectious enthusiasm set the tone for the evening. When I asked for his recommendation, Steve's eyes twinkled mischievously before suggesting the house margarita. And oh, what a recommendation it was! Each sip was a burst of citrusy bliss, leaving me craving more.As the night wore on, I found myself enchanted by the ambience of Sipsip, soaking in the warm breeze and starlit sky. With a grateful heart, I bid farewell to Steve and the unforgettable experience, knowing that I would be back for more soon. Here's to the magic of Sipsip Calypso Rum Bar,and great service from Steve where every visit feels like coming home. Cheers to five stars and endless memories!"
"Today I came for their Sunday special : tomato choka, eggplant choka, salt fish served with naan. With a bottle of water, it costed a meager $8+. What a deal. And the food was fresh and homely. The quantities are huge. Quick service. Has Bollywood music playing in the background giving it a Dhaba or small town restaurant feel. The naan felt doughey but other than that it's a must try if you are into budget friendly ethnic cuisines."
"In town for SOBE we found Redwood thru YELP. Redwood is a neat restaurant with a mix of traditional seating and home style from your house with even a breakout area with lounge chairs. The restaurant lighting is soft, and the bar area is attractive and intimate. We arrived at 6pm and met the chef/owner and were further in luck as tonight the restaurant offered live music - acoustic guitarMy wife and I shared the ceviche which was flavorful and refreshing with the proper amount of acid and came with homemade chips - delicious. For mains my wife had the linguine von gole , it was good but could have used more clams and the ones it was served with were slighlty overcooked. I ordered the flat bread marguerita with grill chicken as an additional throw on. The pizza size was perfect and the flavor was goodOverall a great environment to meet with friends and enjoy dinner next time I will try a chef special."
"This can easily compete with all the other Jamaican restaurants for "Best Jerk Chicken". It has a brilliant smokey flavor and is cooked to perfection. The owners here are very friendly. I also ordered their oxtail gravy with the rice which was perfect. I now have 3 great/ go-to jamaican restaurants in the area. I cant say it is the best, but it is certainly up there with Clives. It is easy to miss in a side plaza, and not in the best neighborhood. There is an abundance of other caribbean/jamaican restaurants in the area so competition must be tough. The owner told me they had been there 8 years.... which shocked me since there was no yelp reviews. This place is an undiscovered gem and i never see it too busy. Do yourself a favor and stop by if you are ever in the area."
"I've ordered takeout from Roywoods twice now, and each time I've had great customer service and awesome food! Having Caribbean cuisine in the Edgewater neighborhood is such a treat, and the jerk chicken, callalloo, rice and peas are amazing. Looking forward to going back to try additional dishes!"
"Garden House is a good alternative to the different restaurant options in Miami Beach. It is not our favorite but we had a good time during our 4th of July stay. It's much smaller than it looks in photos. There is a small outdoor patio and and small indoor area. We opted to sit outside which is a lot cuter. I didn't like that the floors were all wet and it took a long time for service but other than that the food was great. We loved their seafood platter which was only about $30 which came with fish, shrimp, calamari, and fried plantains. It was delicious. When we came on 4th of July night it wasn't busy at all. However I hear it gets pretty busy during the weekends so reservations is recommend since its smaller. We always just park in the nearby parking structure."
"If it wasn't for someone sticking the restaurant's business card on my windshield; I would have never know that this place existed, and after googling the address, learned that it's practically walking distance from my house...but it's hot so I'll drive the 0.2 miles. There's not any big sign on the business for an easy spot. You just have to be on the lookout for a Jamaican flag in the window and remember that it's next to a Haitian restaurant. There's also limited parking.Located along Pembroke Rd.; Taste of Portland is a small Jamaican restaurant with a few table seating for customers that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner at reasonable prices. You can also get lunch specials during the week from 11am-3pm for $4.99, soups, sides, and cold beverages. The restaurant sells various snacks and products native to Jamaica as well. I was greeted by a pleasant female who took my order of the brown stew chicken lunch special. It came with rice & peas, steamed vegetables, plantain, and surprisingly a can soda of my choice. The food looked and smelled delightful. Now for the taste... The chicken was tender and browned nicely with a mild flavor. The rice & peas was cooked to a soft consistency. The steamed vegetables was soft and a bit of crunchy. My only problem was the food had one plantain which was sweet. Come on now, why be stingy with the plantain? They could have at least added 2 or 3 nice pieces. Overall the food was enjoyable. Reminds me of my grandma's cooking back in the islands. Look forward to return to try other dishes."
"One of my top options for lunch! And even dinner sometimes. Super affordable and convenient location closed to the house. Great lunch specials as far as options and pricing. Will definitely fill you up especially for a lunch. Might even call it a heavy lunch. Can't go wrong with jerk or brown stew chicken and you get three sides! (I can eat rice and peas everyday for the rest of my life) My only complaint is sometimes the rice is really dry and the chicken pieces have more bones than actual meat. Their patties can be on the chewier side. Also, they are always confused about the Yelp check in offer of free lemonade/drink so I stopped trying to claim that. Despite all that, the flavors are consistent and so are the portions. Still a fan and will be a returning customer!"
"We checked this place out for dinner. It was fairly a quiet night. If you can, choose to dine outside. It feels like you're in a tropical island, romantic and beautiful compared to the indoor dining space, which is fancy and modernized. They first serve you bread and some olive oil on the side. We ordered several dishes: Pea empanadas, Charred Octopus , Glazed short short rib tacos, Black Truffle and Fontina Cheese pizza and Arroz con Pollo. My boyfriend's favorite dish was the pea empanadas while mine were the arroz con pollo. The truffle pizza and glazed short rib tacos were okay, but worth skipping them. The charred octopus was good too, but I have had better. We also ordered cocktails and we found the watermelon one tasting the best. The servers were attentative and professional. Personally I wouldn't come back."

Small hole in the wall place serving Solid Caribbean/Jamaican food. On the Corner of Palm Avenue and Miramar Parkway, In the heart of the Caribbean Community in South Florida. Telling that there is a Golden Krust restaurant in the same strip mall and at least 3 to 4 more Caribbean restaurants within 3 miles. Went for lunch and for $8 got a huuuge serving of Jerk Chicken and dirty rice. Tasted very good, Fairly priced, friendly staff, and large portiions. I have to believe that all of the other Caribbean staples are just as good. 4 stars and a "Ya Mon".

Sip sip is the cutest little rum bar on the rooftop of the Mayfair.I've been a few times and the water views of the Grove Marina are excellent. As for drinks, I've gotten piña coladas here and an Aperol spritz. Both were solid, as this gives vacation drink vibes all the way. They also offer food, and I love their fish dip.Regardless of if you are staying in the hotel you can enjoy this rooftop bar. As the weather cools down this is a great spot to enjoy some drinks outdoors.

Stopped in today because I was craving a roti. It was my first time checking this spot out because I had heard that they were good from Facebook and some other social media outlets. The prices are cheaper than other spots that sell roti and they give you a lot of food compared to other spots. I had the boneless curry chicken dhalpuri roti. It was good, slightly under salted. I got one of the mango passionfruit juices and it was soooo freaking good. I haven't tried the peanut punch yet, but I'm sure it's also amazing. I also got one doubles just for a snack, but it tasted like it had pepper in it and I asked for none so I took a few bites but didn't finish it. It also had the tamarind sauce and the cucumber slaw on it. I like the cucumber slaw, but not the tamarind sauce so I have to remember next time to be specific about what I want on it. Maybe that's the baseline, but it was a bit too much for this American Trini gyal, lol.The ambience is nice, gives you that laid-back island vibe like other comparable spots. The staff are nice and friendly and try to get you out quick if you are waiting on takeout. I'd come back if in the area.

My boyfriend and I walked into this place and really wanted to try this place. We were the first to walk in this afternoon and had Heidi as a our server. She was sweet and told us this place was fairly new. We loved the ambiance and the music. We were kind of hungry so, decided to order like 3 appetizers. We ordered the burrata salad, mofogo, & the spare ribs. Let me tell you, everything just melted into your mouth. The burrata salad, full of flavor. Such a simple salad with so much flavor. Each bite had a burst of flavor with the fresh tomatoes, arugula, and olive oil. The Mofogo , basically was a plantain topped with pork belly and Kimchi pickled slaw. These flavors were epic. This is a must!!!! The plantain was cooked so perfectly ! Had a great crunch sound. The pork belly was so tender & the slaw brought all the flavors together. Each flavor complimented each other. The spare ribs were absolutely to die for. The first bite you take was an experience in itself. The meat was so tender that it fell off the bone so gently and melted straight into your mouth. The bbq tangy sauce was perfect for these spare ribs! You can tell these spare ribs were slowly cooked to perfection. I am happy with this place and will be coming back to try more ! Ask Heidi to be your server !

This place is always good. I order the same thing everytime and I'm usually here every Sunday unless my tastebuds redirect me to stay home. The jerk chicken is to die for and I'm also a fan of the potatoe salad with peas and carrots.

The jerk chicken sandwich was beyond delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly with the right amount of spices not too hot with a perfect amount of Coleslaw and the yummiest CoCo bread! So glad we finally have a Caribbean spot in Edgewater!
Visit Restaurant Page"Honestly, the lunch special for $4.50 is unbeatable! The food is always great! I usually get the Fried chicken special...rice and peas...oxtail gravy and a side salad. I'm in heaven! If you have the opportunity to check this place out, don't play yourself and treat yourself !"
"I tried some rice, some jerk chicken and vegetables. It was tasty. Service was pleasant enough."
"have heard good things about this place for years from a friend so finally decided to check it out when i was in the plaza. when I walked in all the food looked extremely fresh and the place smelled great. Got a large saltfish with steamed cabbage. initially I was surprised at the price after purchasing but when i tasted the food.. it tasted great so it didn't bother me as much . One of the best salt fish ive ever had.. not too salty, well seasoned, not too oily or watery either.. and great flavor.... they also gave a decent amount....Overall id def come back esp to try the roti.. maybe next time ill get a small though lol."
"Found this Haitian restaurant late night riding with my boyfriend looking for something to eat. They were just getting ready to close and we walked in. They still took our order that shows good customer service. We ordered the Griot with rice and beans. The food was good. The passion fruit drink was amazing. For it to late night and they were closing the came out fresh and hot. Looking for some good Haitian food. Check them out. Real authentic."
"The ox tail and brown stew chicken are still the best I've ever had. I'm updating my review because I think the service has gotten better. Or perhaps I'm simply more patient. I'm still going to order from here, regardless, because the food is just that good."
"It's busy on a Sunday but the food was amazing. The service was a little slow but they were super busy. The quality of the food was amazing and I like the atmosphere. I would definitely go back."
"Three and a half stars. The spicy was good. The lemon pepper dry was a little on the salty side. Not much lemon flavor to it.The spicy lemon pepper was just too much flavor in one combination."
"This was my first time in Dade County. A friend of mine asked me to accompany him for dinner and he chose to dine at Tropical Oasis. The restaurant is located in a plaza along State Rd. 7 (441). Once inside, you'll see the take-out counter with a few seats for customers to sit and wait while the food is being prepared. To the left of the take-out counter, you go through a door and you are in the dining area where there are adequate table seating and a flat screen TV on the wall. A friendly female employee came by our table and gave us each a menu. Within a few minutes, she returned and took our orders. My friend ordered curry goat while I ordered brown stew chicken. Both meals was served with rice & peas, steamed cabbage, and a fried plantain. About 5 or 6 minutes, the female brought out our food. Visually it looked delicious. Here's what I thought about my meal...* The rice & peas was nicely cooked to a soft consistency, but it was a bit dry. I should have asked for some sauce on the side* The brown stew chicken was tender and browned in a flavorful sauce* The fried plantain was sweet. Wish I could have had two more* The steamed cabbage had a crunchy texture and tasted bland. Needed a bit of saltMy friend ate what he wanted and pushed the rest aside. I left back a small portion of the food and asked the female employee for a container to take my leftovers home. Before leaving, I looked around for a take-out menu, but I didn't see any. Who knows if I will ever return to this restaurant again. I'll leave the decision up to my friend."
"Last week, we stopped by this place for lunch. It recently opened at this location a couple of months ago. We have been to Jamaica a few times and miss having some of their dishes. So this is the closest we can get to it for now. The ambiance is very nice with beautiful decor and furniture with large, comfortable couches. Nice and clean. They have generous portions of the bowls, so we decided to split the chicken bowl with rice and peas, yuca sticks, salsa, pineapple, and mango. It was good, but for me, it was a little too spicy. Still good though. The staff are so nice and helpful! We enjoyed chatting with them. They make you feel welcome. Our server was Brandon, who was friendly and attentive. They also have live music with a DJ booth at night.Parking is not the easiest because it is downtown Miami. We will come back again in the future."
"Liked the place, real authentic and simple. Parking out front.Took a star off as the variety was limited, lots of things I really wanted just weren't there and we ended up getting both the curry chicken plate. It was really good. Curry was pretty spicy. Cheap and plenty of food."
"I was visiting Ft Lauderdale and ran into this gem. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and peas and boiled dumplings. I was a bit surprised to hear the food was "made to order" and that it would take 35 mins to prepare as I was starving! Unfortunately it took 1 hour and 15 mins to prepare, but I have to say the chef put his heart and soul into this dish. It was fresh and delicious and made this Jamaican proud! I highly recommend this restaurant, just be sure to plan ahead and call in your order before you go. They do have a small counter space for you to eat, but most of their business seems to be take out. I also want to add that the owner was kind enough to offer a beverage for the long wait. I had the homemade fruit punch and that was also awesome. If you're looking for amazing Jamaican cuisine, give this place a try!"
"Anyone who knows me knows I was a fan of the late Anthony Bourdain. He visited a lot of Miami restaurants in his time and this is one of them. This one is in little Haiti I have not eaten there yet but I definitely want to.Whilst here he ate - jerk chicken, curry goat, roti and cow foot soup"
"I went on a Wednesday for lunch. The restaurant was empty. I ordered at the counter and my food was ready in less than 10 minutes. It is served in To-go containers. I had the brown chicken stew lunch special for $7. They charge 50 cents for a cup of faucet water. They only gave me a plastic fork. A knife would have been nice. The chicken was tender and flavorful. It was served with cabbage, rice and beans, and plantains. Overall, it was good food. It's inside dining only, but everyone got carry out they I saw come in while I was there. The ladies restroom was locked while I was there. I used the men's restroom. It had no paper towels and the faucet was missing a handle. There is plenty of parking in the attached lot."
"This restaurant is really very quaint inside and very clean. The menu is small and sits on the table. The server was a very young woman who didn't seem to know much about the menu and didn't smile much, I was thinking she just needed more training. The food was GREAT! I had the oxtail with mushroom rice The picklese is my favorite creole side and it was perfectly spicy I loved it. The flavors were perfect, my friend had the meatballs and I tasted them they were fabulous I would get those next time I go for sure! All in all I had a great time I would definitely"
"I really enjoyed my curry goat to go - plenty of flavor and a bit of spice. It was such a large portion I had leftovers for dinner. I like that they include the plantain not everyone does. I'd definitely go back"
"Rice and gravy was very good. Curry goat meat felt tough. I got a large platter and I left all the meat. Cabbage was in a small box, they could of just put that small serving in the box. It's a waste of styrofoam.Bf had the oxtail. It was tasty.. some pieces were just fat."
"This was a perfect recommendation location outside of the usual Caribbean restaurants everyone ventured to. It's a family-owned and operated Guyanese-Chinese fusion restaurant which will now be added to my #SouthFloridaEats spots. Located in a strip mall, the food was prompt and tasty.... the music was pumping as it's also a sports bar Definitely check it out.E A T SFried Rice, Chow Mein, and Fried Chicken I could have eaten an entire plate of the #chowmein... sooooo good"
"I love Hot off de Grill. Great location, service, and variety and the prices are also reasonable. They don't skimp on portions and everything I've tried has been delicious from the jerk chicken, oxtail, and curry goat to the mac and cheese and desserts."
"So I first had good from here at a repast and had to have the name of the restaurant. Luckily for me it was located right by me! While looking through UberEats yesterday, I saw that they were offering free delivery. Win! Boy was I not disappointed. It reminded me of the first time I had it and my stomach was so happy. The griot (fried pork) was so delicious and flavorful. The rice was delicious and so were the fried plantains. The whole plate was delicious and as with most Haitian restaurants, they give you a lot of food. The only thing is I wish I would've ordered 2 pikliz instead of one! I know for next time though. Overall, the food was great and I will most definitely be back!!"
"First time ordering food from this Haitian restaurant and it was worth it!! The food was hot and fresh and they literally gave me my money's worth!! My takeout plate was FULLLL and the food was GOOD!I ordered the complete griot fritay:Griot- 9/10 a couple of hard piecesAccra- 10/10 perfect Marinade- 10/10 perfect Plantains - 10/10 perfect Piklis - 10/10Everything was perfectly seasoned! The piklis had the right amount of spice and acid! This place is probably on my top 3 Haitian restaurants I've eaten from living here in Miami!!Run don't walk here!!!!!!!!"
