Mi Barrio was a nice find while on a business trip to the Atlanta, Georgia area. MI Barrio is definitely one of those hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop type joints and I don't mean that in a negative way. I have found that the best Mexican food does not come from some restaurant that has an emphasis on hipster ambiance, but rather, I have found that the best Mexican food comes from these humble little spots. The service here was friendly and prompt. I went with tacos and they definitely were on point. Add some of their sauce and the tacos were definitely a great example of how incredible a taco can be.Mi Barrio is definitely a great option and I would definitely recommend Mi Barrio.

Another 5-star experience at Mi Barrio!I was craving something delicious on my way home from an appointment and saw that Mi Barrio was opening in a few minutes so I figured I'd make a stop. Well unfortunately, the hours were wrong online and I learned that it would be 20min+ until they opened. You think that stopped me? Heck no. I had time and surprisingly, some patience on me that day and I was determined to leave with some grub. A few minutes before the (real) dinner opening time, a truck pulled up and Mama Sunshine popped out. That's not her name but she's always pure sunshine when I visit her! I won't dare try to age her as she looks awesome, has braces and told me her kids were apart of the team and her mom was the chef. Mama looks good okay?! She apologized profusely for me waiting and I told her I was totally fine and that it wasn't on her, I was happy to wait. She got the doors opened and quickly sat me down as the restaurant got running. As soon as you sit, you're given a basket of fresh, warm tortilla chips and a cold side of the most delicious, spicy salsa. Omg I live for that salsa. Sunshine was running around doing prep with the family but continued to check on me while I indecisively looked through the menu as I enjoyed my chips and Jarrito. I asked her opinion on what to get, briefly considering the special of the day which was chicken mole. I ended up going for the chicken enchiladas prepped to go. A young waiter brought me my food to go all packaged and ready, and even brought me a big container of salsa to go. Blessings!!! Once I got home and ready to eat, I knew I was in for a treat. Those enchiladas were IT! Stuffed with huge amounts of shredded chicken in corn tortillas and covered in lettuce and cheese. When I added my salsa and sour cream for some bites, that food didn't stand a chance. I'm already planning my return. Seriously so worth a visit to support this family-owned and operated business! Get some cocktails while you're there!

A friend and I had tried to eat here once before but when we showed up they were closed. They had a sign on the door stating that they were open at the time we were there, so I don't know what was going on. We were again meeting up for lunch in the same area, though, so we opted to give them another try. They are located across Memorial from Oakland Cemetery, at the extreme eastern edge. We parked a few blocks away, as we were heading to another venue after lunch. However, Mi Barrio does have parking out front. I don't know how quickly it may fill up at other times, but on a Saturday around 11:45 a.m. it still had spaces. There is neighborhood parking close by though. I would characterize this as being sort of a 'dive bar' Mexican restaurant. I don't mean that in a bad way, but just to give the reader an idea of the vibe. If you are expecting "On The Border", this will be like that. The staff was quite friendly and reasonably attentive. When we visited, Atlanta was having a water main issue that affected a lot of businesses for a few days, including this one. It wasn't their fault, but they couldn't do any fountain drinks or tea. So we got bottled water. They had a decent selection of entrees and combination plates. My friend ordered a chicken and steak split on his items. I thought I specified ground beef on mine, but when the plates arrived (promptly), mine was also a chicken and steak split. Rather than make things hard for the staff, I proceeded with my taco and enchilada as is. I have no strong objection to chicken or steak, I just tend to prefer the ground beef. That said, the dish was fine. I finished it. If this site offered half points, I'd give them a 3.5.

They have their own parking out front. Ambiance was fun. Very casual. One server for whole restaurant and she did an amazing job. I was craving chips and salsa (like west side of the US kind of Mexican food) and those did not disappoint. It was the squirt out of the bottle into a dipping bowl kind of salsa. Salsa is mild but still flavorful.Ordered their cheese enchiladas. It was served with rice and beans. The rice was good and the beans were alright. I wish the cheese inside the enchiladas was hot and melted. The sizes of the enchiladas were smaller than normal, I would say. They have a great selection of bottled drinks that you can take directly from their fridge. Another dish that was ordered was their nachos with beef. The beef had an interesting texture, different than what I normally eat. The sour cream was runny and the cheese wasn't stringy when grabbing a chip which was low key disappointing. Pay at the counter. No itemized list of items available, maybe there is but we never got a copy. I would go back for their chips and salsa and maybe try their seafood dishes... smelt someone's dish near our table.

1st things 1st: this is a small family only restaurant. There is like 4 people working here max. And they are all AMAZING!! The food is great, hot and fresh. Very authentic Mexican. But please understand to be patient. It's a small location that does their own thing. Most customers are regulars and know how things go. Be nice and enjoy the vibes. The food is so worth it. Once it's sold out it's out but I enjoy myself every time I'm there. There is always something else on the menu that I'm able to order instead. As basic as it is, their chips and salsa are great. Always warm and their salsas are amazing with great variety and flavor.I would give 5 stars if the parking was more manageable and maybe a tiny bit more in the menu. The menu has the names of things but I don't always like having to go to google to find out what it is; and even then what Google may give isn't what it is. Parking is not something in their control but something others should be aware of. Park down the street and walk over. The margaritas are THE BEST!

Mom & Pop shops seem to be the BEST!!! I love authentic eatery. I love it more when it's the parents shop & they're still the cook, i know that they cook with so much love! Tacos were so great!!! A taco with a fresh sliced avocado! I mean how much better can you get?? They have their daughter waitressing which was dope & she was great & friendly. Ambiance was super calm & family orientated, they also had a mixed crowd which allowed me to know that everyone loves their tacos! Will definitely be back!

Lisa and the food was AMAZING!! From her great customer service and friendly attitude ON THE PHONE before I got there; to her attentiveness during my visit. As an expecting mother, I woke up early this morning CRAVING a stuffed poblano pepper.(There's a place that used to serve them here in Atlanta I would frequent; but they took it off their menu.)So I was on a frantic search to find a replacement. After spending a few hours early in the am searching online for these stuffed peppers, I came across Mi Barrio. I wasn't sure if they actually had it. So I waited a few hours until they opened to call.(I've passed by Mi Barrio several times in the past and had no idea of what a GEM it was!) Lisa answered the phone and quickly let me know that they had JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!She also mentioned that they sell out quickly. So I let her know that I was ON MY WAY asap! Once I arrived, my partner and I enter their quaint, family-style restaurant. I was so comfortable with how at home it made us feel. The size of the dining area made the interaction so much more intimate and meaningful.Once I let Lisa know that I was the one who called, she already knew exactly what I wanted. I got the stuffed poblano pepper with beef. It came with a side of rice, refried beans, lettuce, tomato, onions, avocado on a small bed of spinach. They also gave us complimentary homemade chips and salsa! OH, and I can't forget the hot, fresh homemade corn tortillas on the side as well.My guy, he got their shrimp tacos, street style. The shrimp were seasoned well, a NICE size and great portions!Lisa was very attentive, giving us their fresh sauces to accompany our dishes along with anything else we needed. The family operation that was exhibited made me want to cry happy tears. From the communication from the front of house to back of house... to the baby granddaughter making an appearance saying hello to all the customers!!I cannot WAIT to return!!! This has made my entire day!! Gracias MI BARRIO y MUCHAS GRACIAS LISA!!

I wish I could recommend this place. I pulled up on Saturday 10.12.24 at 3:37p. While I saw someone in the parking lot (which was the employee) ride off:..nothing was said about they were closed for the day or anything.
