"I love this place for a special occasion dinner. Their service is always top notch. If you are celebrating something when you make your reservation, they will customize the menu to say Happy Birthday or Anniversary. It is one of my top special occasion restaurants."
"On our first morning in Memphis, we made our way to the beauty shop restaurant. We did not have a reservation so we were seated in the overflow building next-door. Our waitress was extremely kind and attentive. The service was a little slow, but we were in no rush.To start, we shared an order of beignets and the char grilled grapefruit. The beignets were tasty - a little more cake-like than a traditional, New Orleans style beignet. The char grilled grapefruit was unremarkable. For my dish, I decided to order the shrimp and grits while my husband ordered a Reuben and my father ordered the chicken and waffles. The shrimp and grits were tasty and had a nice bite to them. My dad really enjoyed the chicken and waffles, and my husband thought the Reuben was decent.A decent breakfast spot in Memphis with a very cool history."

"Popped into SOB right before the Moulin Rouge musical at the Orpheum last night and it was a pleasant experience. The atmosphere was very romantic with dim lighting and a very upscale city vibe. Trey was our server and he was exceptional. He was attentive and kind gentleman! The General Tso's Cauliflower was my favorite! Great flavor and it was super light on the stomach. Additionally, had the chicken enchilada bowl. I wouldn't say I would order it again. There was a lot more rice and lettuce than chicken. I was expecting more chicken and as you can see pictured, there wasn't a lot."
"I visited Subculture to try their Nashville hot chicken tacos, and I've heard great things about this spot. Although it's more of a fusion take on Nashville hot chicken, it didn't disappoint at all. During happy hour, the tacos were priced at $7 for two, and I was pleasantly surprised by how fantastic they were. The chicken had a great kick to it and was packed with flavor, but the standout was how crispy it was--I didn't know hot chicken could have such a crunchy texture! The ambiance was pleasant, with plenty of seating and a quiet atmosphere. The owner was very friendly when taking my order, and the service was impressively quick--I got my food in less than 10 minutes. Subculture has become my favorite hot chicken spot in Nashville, and I highly recommend giving it a try!"
"Tucked away on an unassuming street corner in Sylvan Park, you might drive right past the place if you weren't looking for it. Thankfully, crowd-sourced review sites discover such culinary jewels. It was our second experience at this wonderful restaurant known as "answer.", indeed Nashville's best answer to the question "What is your favorite American tapas restaurant?"!Answer. is truly a neighborhood eatery just as the founders intended in 2017, filling a culinary void between the sparse offerings on Murphy Road and the vast restaurant scene on Charlotte Pike. This tapas experience manages to be simultaneously upscale yet affordable, high-class but budget-friendly. Three in our party of four were professional chefs and gave the food rave reviews, so you know it's good!Their arancini is one of the best things I've eaten in Nashville! Like all dishes on this ever-changing menu, this was modified from its native form, clearly inspired by the popular Italian appetizer but uniquely transformed by the chef. You'll slice through a deep-fried crispy exterior to reveal tender rice. But other flavors and textures treat your taste buds with fatty ground pork at the center. The king salmon is perhaps the best piece of fish I've ever had in my 30 years in Nashville, slightly crisped on the outside, tender and flaky, full of flavor, and perfectly prepared. Unfortunately, since this was the nightly special (August of 2024), it may not appear on the menu when you go. The trout is another great option that's more consistently offered, as are the meatballs. The mussels are fabulous with a flavorful broth, but the fresh rye bread that accompanies the mussels is one of the restaurant's best-kept secrets! And the dessert menu is one of my favorites in the city with nothing but great options. Answer. even offers meal packages for takeout on Wednesdays and Sundays!"
"Great service. Dined on a. Friday evening. A party of 6- service was great and the food was also great! Will def be back"
"Stopped in for Sunday brunch around 2:00, and the place was busy. With a quick glance around I v CB oils see mimosa towers and many people enjoying the drink specials for the day. I had the BBQ brisket benne. It is served up on a delicious biscuit instead of an English muffin and as you can see perfectly poached eggs waiting to let that runny yolk flow. The flavor was good, though I'm only giving 4 stars because of the temperature of the food. Potatoes were hot the rest was just barely warm. After seeing a few shows about what may happen to food that is sent back, I don't complain, unless I do so at the end of the meal as feedback. The wait staff was polite and the food came out fairly quickly. If one is tired of overpriced hotel food this is a good stop."
"Incredibly mediocre experience... host was not super friendly and the food was very bland and overall just not great. Ordered a pizza and Rueben, pizza didn't have a ton of flavour/poorly seasoned and was quite wet. The Rueben was better in the flavour department but had a lot of sauce and the bread was very soggy on the bottom. Food was definitely just okay, but shoutout to the waitress who was super friendly. While I can't speak for the beer, I probably wouldn't come back."
"When in Memphis you MUST experience the smiles, kindness and down home taste of BIG BAD BREAKFAST!! The moment you walk in the aroma confirms you're in for an unforgettable experience. The ambience, attentive service and mouthwatering menu options are all there!! I asked the sweetest lady in the world if I were in for a good experience - she said "you'll give me a thumbs up when you're done" She was RIGHT!!"
"I can't believe I haven't discovered this gem until now! After a few lackluster experiences at Edge Alley, I was on the lookout for a new brunch spot and decided to give Raven & Lily a try after a friend recommended it. We were promptly seated after arriving on an early Saturday morning. Here's what we ordered:Brioche Cinnamon Roll: A delightfully dense treat with a generous burst of cinnamon flavor.Pork Belly: Crispy and literally melts in your mouth.Chicken & Biscuits: Incredibly tender chicken paired with amazing biscuits.Shrimp & Grits: A plate bursting with rich and savory flavors.Overall, this was a great experience and Raven & Lily has quickly become our favorite brunch spot in Memphis! I'm also eager to explore their dinner menu at some point. Highly recommended!"
"Fabulous mains that were delicately crafted and seasoned. A joy to the palate ! Service was superb and atmosphere was upscale and casual.. we tried the grilled pork chop over pasta special which was tasty and the green curry gulf fish dish which was also delicious. Good date night place !"
"The Slider House is located in the middle of the Midtown area of the city amongst all the restaurants and bars. As you would suspect, they serve sliders of all different types from beef, chicken, pork and even fish. You can get an individual slider for $7, or make a meal out of it with 2 sliders with a side. The Slider House is a sports bar, so TV's are on all the walls, so not a bad seat in the house when a game is on. Note that this spot is the local Detroit Lions bar, so plan accordingly on game days!We went with the meal option and got two sliders and a side. I got a beef slider, The Old Hickory, a chicken slider, Southern Comfort and a side of onion pedals. Meal total was $17. The sliders were decent with the Southern Comfort being my fav. The Sriracha Honey glaze made the sandwich! I was disappointed in the onion pedals, as while I can appreciate a light dredge/batter, these pedals were barely coated and some pieces were not coated at all. Before our sliders, we started with the buffalo chicken dip. The dip was tasty, just enough heat and thick. The chips are the house made potato chips, and while good on their own, not my favorite vessel for the dip. Drink wise, they have a full bar with several specials, beers on tap, cocktails, etc...we got a beer and I ordered a Gin and Tonic. My first G&T was solid, but my second was rough. I cannot pinpoint what it was, but it did not taste like a G&T. I confirmed it was what was made, and was assured, which just made me a question it a tad more. Service was a bit hit and miss as well. Our server was friendly, but not super attentive with drinks/refills. Overall, the experience, food and service was just "ok". Nothing terribly wrong or really outstanding. Decent spot for a decent slider and a beer."

Beauty shop is a Memphis institution for good reason: the interior is the exact reflection of the Cooper Young neighborhood - quirky and hip - and the food choices are exciting. I frequently find I have to wait a long time to be seated even if I have a reservation, and then that service at the table can be hit or miss in terms of timeliness.I've come here dozens of times for brunch and a handful for dinner, but brunch is where I think Beauty Shop shines. There are so many choices that are classics with a twist and they are frequently well-executed. Most recently I was in with my husband for his birthday. We shared the corn fritters with blueberry jalepeno chutney and they were excellent. He got the thai-style breakfast bowl which was good, not outstanding. I got the blueberry pancakes with coconut crema, which I wished were a bit more coconut-forward. Our service on this visit was great once we were seated.

OMG! this place is so good I could eat here every day. Ok, well the first time I ate here I did come back the next 2 days in a row and brought friends. They had me at "butternut squash". I first tried the butternut squash tacos. Wow!The kids love the empanadas. A friend tried the hot chicken and thought it was great (and hot)!Another friend loves the quinoa salad. I can't say enough about the butternut squash salad. The first few times I had it I took the pickled onions off thinking I wouldn't like them. (duh) Today I ate my salad with them on and loved them. The salad dressing is so good, I want to buy a bottle of it.The crepes are incredible and the Alfajor cookie is almost too much. They have fancy coffee and craft beer that my friends enjoyed. The service is the BEST! And the furniture in this place has the same urban vibe as my kitchen furniture.I'm not supposed to be eating any processed food right now, but I don't think I'm cheating by eating at Subculture. Everything is homemade.Even the other diners are nice, is this place magic? Oh, and they play kick butt music, and the outside eating area has festive coloured hanging lights.

Amazing happy hour menu! Everything is $6 and super delicious. The interiors are modern and well-kept. Would recommend getting there early for happy hours (4:30-6 pm Tues-Sat) since there is limited seating around the bar! Parking behind the restaurant or street parking in nearby neighborhoods.

Ambiance was spot on. We gathered for a team dinner and enjoyed several delicious items. Be advised of the dress code, though. It is displayed outside the restaurant.I ordered the Lemon Caper Chicken Linguine, and it was very flavorful. I also ordered a side of the green beans, and candied Brussels sprouts. The Brussels weren't my favorite, but the green beans were very well seasoned. The highlight would have to be the spinach dip and the lemon drop martini with Woodford. Overall, cannot complain, it was a wonderful meal and ambiance.

I was walking by, after leaving the Peabody, and this young woman started hollering at me that I needed a martini. That is how it started. She also mentioned that it was Martini Monday, and that martinis were $6. I was walking by with a friend and we were heading to a shop up the street. Well, I started thinking, maybe I DO need a martini. I had also just walked 14,000 steps all over Memphis in the afternoon and looked a hot mess, but she insisted. My friend was not interested, so I moseyed on over solo and took a seat at the bar. That is where I met my new favorite Memphian, Ashley. Lemme tell ya, that young lady can make a martini. ALLLLL their martinis were $6 and they are not making them with bottom shelf liquors. I had a Penicillin and a Bubble Bath. One is made with Patron and the other with Ketel One. They were perfectly balanced and cold. I don't typically go for really sweet drinks but when in Memphis. Plus these were not candy sweet, they were made with good ingredients and on the sweeter side. They were delighful. As was the service. I don't remember the other girls name, who brought me in, but she and Ashely were great. It wasn't busy and we chatted a bit. I told them it was my first time to Memphis and they could not have been more friendly or welcoming. Told me a bit of the history about the place, and gave some other recommendations in the area. I will definitely make it a point to come back here.

Firstly the wait was only 15 minutes on a Saturday night, it was packed! The lighting and staff made things feel very personal. So a pretty quick sit down, now on to drinks. Very good and strong. My steak was to die for. "BUTTER BABY!" was said at least 5 times. Everyone enjoyed their meal and it's a must return.

"Nestled in the heart of Memphis, Erling Jensen: The Restaurant celebrates Chef Erling Jensen's storied career. Born in Denmark, Jensen began his culinary journey at 14. After training and an apprenticeship, he moved to the United States. Serving as the Chef at the Danish Embassy in Washington, DC, Jensen's talent and dedication quickly gained notoriety.Following two successful years in Washington, Chef Jensen caught the attention of Danish Chef/Restaurateur Jorgen Mueller, who recruited him as Executive Chef at the esteemed Prince Hamlet Restaurant in Miami, Florida. However, a serendipitous opportunity led him to Memphis. After reading a one-time ad in the New York Times for a Chef position at La Tourelle, a renowned French restaurant, Chef Jensen secured the job. In 1989, he and his family relocated to Memphis, where he transformed La Tourelle into the city's premier French establishment, earning accolades for its cuisine and impeccable service. During this transformative period, Chef Jensen also held the esteemed position of First Tennessee Bank's Corporate Executive Chef.Chef Jensen's culinary achievements, including two James Beard House appearances in New York City, have made him a renowned figure in the culinary world. Recognized as "Best Chef in Memphis" and "Best Restaurant in Memphis" for ten consecutive years, Chef Jensen's restaurant, Erling Jensen, exudes a cozy and charming ambiance, which invokes the feeling that you are dining in his own home. This personal touch was evident, during our visit, when Chef Jensen personally approached our table to introduce himself and inquire as to how we would like to have our steak and lamb prepared. This level of attentiveness and dedication to guest satisfaction is truly exceptional.Dining at Erling Jensen is an immersive culinary experience that reflects Chef Jensen's journey from Denmark to Memphis. It's a must-visit destination for foodies seeking an unforgettable dining experience in Memphis."
"We needed a late night spot that was still serving food! Pour house was an excellent choice! Pour house isn't just bar food. We all got an excellent meal! The appetizers & drinks were great! The entrees were excellent too! Our server was great! There are plenty of TVs to watch various games but it's still quiet enough to have a conversation. We really enjoyed pour house & we'll be back!"
"On this visit Food lol Sunday funday foodie meatball Sandwich was large with fries with seasoning Catfish dinner with two side dishes your choice of sides a choice of fries broccoli side salad and some other side options are available ask for the sides listGood customer service busy day with tons of customers but all customers were accommodated Seating available bar table top inside or table outside underneath the oning"
"Good eats and good drinks in a pretty setting. The expansive outdoor seating sets this spot apart. Our bill was expensive in summer 2022 - $150 for 4 cocktails and 3 entrees. But it was really good barbeque. Don't miss the smoked sausage!Lots of gluten-free and dairy-free options!Kids menu is great too!Highly recommend for families."
"Good food and great service! We happened to be there on trivia night and got to play along. Didn't answer man questions but had a good time playing while we enjoyed our meal."
"5 stars for Carrie! The food was amazing, but the service was even better. If you have not been it's a must try for everyone!"
"This is the perfect spot when the weather is nice. Go sit on their large patio, watch the sun set and drink a bushwacker. You can watch as ducks fly over, boats come in for the night and watch planes taking off or landing nearby at John C Tune Airport. It's very peaceful here. Families and date nights alike- this is a good spot for you. If you're looking for a healthy menu, they do have a few options, but we did not try those. The Goods:- free parking in the large lot at the marina- service was excellent. Our server was very attentive. - food was freshly made to order but came out extremely fast - food was really tasty! - Bushwacker (icy chocolatey boozy drink) for the winHere's what we ordered:- Fried cheese curds - we got them "plain" which means they weren't dipped in buffalo sauce. A side of ranch and also marinara are provided and let me tell you- this dish was a delight. So good!- Mahi Mahi Tacos- yum! This dish comes with 2 tacos (you can add a third for $6) and some delicious sauce made with ranch. Also a side that's mixed with black beans & yellow rice. All very good. - French Fries - so crispy with a hint of seasoning and a lot of salt. Just how I like them!- Fried Coconut Shrimp - didn't love that sauce they come with but the shrimp were SO GOOD! The Not So Goods:- You do have to take a ramp from the parking lot to get to the restaurant. I'm not handicap, but I would imagine this ramp might be a little difficult for someone who is. - They don't allow pets on the patio so keep your furry friends at home. I'd love to bring my dog but this isn't a reason to keep me away. - take a jacket or sweatshirt if you sit by the water. It can get chilly. Love that this place is within walking distance in my neighborhood. We will be back!"
"Reading precious reviews and checking out the menu, things have drastically changed, either because of Covid, new owners, or both. Either way, my fiancé and I were not disappointed with our meals, nor the service from our server. It was Friday night, we were easily able to reschedule our reservation from 7:30 to 8:30, greeted at the door, seated promptly, Jay arrived within seconds of being seated, and was attentive to our party of 2 as well as his other tables throughout the entire night. I appreciate that!A quick glance at the menu, and we ordered the steakhouse sushi. After a bit longer, we agreed we should have opted for the deviled eggs. The sushi was all rice, no flavor, and bland, even with the side of soy sauce and a spicy red sauce it came with. After the disappointing sushi, our hopes for dinner weren't high, but we couldn't stop eating our filet, mashed potatoes, and glazed Brussels sprouts. That entire plate was amazing. Perfectly seared to medium rare, creamy potatoes, and the sprouts were absolutely delicious. There aren't enough words to describe how mind-blowing our steaks were, except that I was willing to make myself sick trying to eat it all. Now onto dessert: I love blueberries, my fiancé does too. I liked the cheesecake, he didn't, so Jay boxed a New York style cheesecake that neither of us have tried yet. (I'm writing this the morning after and trust me, we're both still full.)So recap: appetizer was a miss, dinner was a grand slam, and desert was a double for me. All in all, we will definitely return to explore what else Harper House has to offer!"
"So we came here after church for a bite and we were not disappointed. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was good. It's a big restaurant so it was busy on a Sunday but it wasn't hard to find a spot. They have outside seating too. They have a big bar and TVs all around the place. The atmosphere is definitely bar/grill but family friendly. We ordered the Memphis burger, the Baja fish tacos and a 12" pepperoni pizza. Everything was really good but my favorite was the burger. The pull pork bbq was on point. They also had drink specials (not picture) but the glass mason jars was massive! I opted for my favorite, draft Guinness. My kids enjoyed their pizza and the space we got had a window my daughter just loved. The bathroom could use an update or a good cleaning but place overall could too. Prices are normal and the drink special for draft was pretty good.Overall, I would recommend and come back."
"I ordered a latte with almond milk and my friend ordered a chai latte and we both liked our drinks. The atmosphere was great and its was a very social feel. The only thing I didn't like was the price. I got a medium and it was around $6.50, then after I tipped it was over $7. To me that is more than I want to pay on a regular basis. A once in a while treat is fine but I cannot make this a regular place to visit with those prices.* Note, if part of their proceeds regularly go to charitable foundations or causes, then I suppose I could justify the extra surcharge and it would be a great place to bring friends or work colleagues since you need to have a meeting somewhere anyway. I am certainly going to go here over the green Mermaid corporate giant that serves crud for coffee, especially for group orders! I'd rather support local every day of the week!"
"The brunch menu is excellent with the crab Benedict and shrimp & grits as old favorites. Always love the amazing popovers! Yolanda is the best mixologist and we always enjoy her service. We'll be back by Valentines Day."
"food so good, didn't even get the pictures!will be back to try more menu items!shouts to our server for being patient and kind!note that the sauce on the bbq chicken pizza has habaneros in it literal fire but delicious! lots to look at around the restaurant, eclectic decor. thanks for the great service before our evening show!"
"Stopped in here for lunch, first visit. This restaurant is housed in a historic building which one served as a railroad depot. The building inside and out has been beautifully renovated.I had their signature chicken salad on a croissant with a side of Italian pasta salad. The chicken salad was flavorful and fantastic, the bun was fresh, buttery and slightly toasted. The pasta salad was fine, but didn't really flip the switch for me.Service was excellent. They also had a great selection of homemade desserts - maybe next time!"
"Got the Cajun omelette. Seasoned well, I added bacon to mine It came with shrimp crawfish peppers an onions. With a side of potatoes and a cup of gumbo Gumbo a bit spicy but still good. First time here an the mimosas was ok wasn't a fan of the tropical flavor. Very very sweet Pineapple was decent decent"
"I tried their egusi soup and fufu and their oxtail once as well. It was very good. I would definitely try them again. I recommend trying their beef patties a well."
"Had a great meal here the other night. I ordered a Long Island to relax after a long day and it was nice and stiff! I also ordered the prime rib which was excellent. Service was good! I'll definitely be back soon"
"I'm so lucky that I live close to this fantastic restaurant! I've only been here twice, as it's a bit pricey, but so worth it. Let's talk menu items: I was here recently and shared the gazpacho. Fresh. Creamy. Fantastic. On this same visit my date had the duck breast, which I tried, and was great. That said, I think I win because I ordered the lobster ravioli (sans egg, I don't eat egg) and it was summer camp write home to mom and dad worthy. Like wow! The sweet chili, the curry flavors, the creaminess, I don't know how to adequately describe to you, aside from telling you that you need to eat and experience this dish for yourself.Staff is masked up and safe. Patrons are perfectly separated for safety. Great location with a huge parking lot. Phenomenal wine and cocktail list if that's your thing.I will be back whether I live close or not. This place is good. Please experience it for yourself!"
"I love this bar always friendly service. Great bar food Excellent place to hangout and chill out in."
"The food was so good. I've never had a pork Ribeye till today and it was so good and had so much flavor. My husband fillet was very good as well very flavorful the broccolini was so soft and delicious as well. The chips are homemade and the chipotle ranch is so good that comes with them. We got strawberry cake to go and it doesn't taste like most strawberry cakes do it is very soft and not over powering and very fluffy!! The Service do not even get me started!!! The service was great and the young lady who waited on us was very sweet and patient with us since it was our first time and always checked on us to see if we needed anything. We will definitely be back and bring the in-laws the next time. This restaurant was very clean and really nice for where it sits at!"
"I'd call this a true fine dining experience. It can be a special occasion or a quest to have delicious food prepared by amazing chefs. The moment you step inside, you're welcomed by an atmosphere of sophistication and elegance. You can tell the chefs here are well-trained and take pride in their craft. One of the chefs, and this is the really neat part, painted a massive, breathtaking fish painting that's a centerpiece in the restaurant. It's like having dinner surrounded by art.I mustn't forget to mention the salmon. It's so succulent and perfectly prepared that you'll swear it's the best you've ever had. And for those who are health-conscious or just looking for a unique twist, the cauliflower rice is an absolute dream. It's a testament to how this place blends classic elegance with contemporary tastes. So, there you have it, River Oaks Restaurant - a fine dining establishment that's like a time machine back to the refined dining experiences of yesteryears. They've got a mix of the old-school charm and modern culinary delights that'll leave you with a truly memorable dining memory. Bon appétit!"
"Lara was very attentive and our food was great! Excited about the new menu! It was our first time eating at Scouts!"
"Cafe 1912 is a offbeat, French-inspired restaurant situated in midtown Memphis. Generous portions, charming servers and an eclectic vibe. The dining area is broken into different sections, which keeps the noise level in check even when the restaurant is at capacityThe highlights of my meal were the perfectly prepared frites and the spectacular braised short ribs in wine sauce. The cheese board was also impressive. It's definitely worth checking out."
"Stopped here on my way back home from a business meeting for a quick late lunch. The tomato basil dip and the chicken bacon ranch pizza with red onions and BBQ sauce were both amazing. Would definitely stop here again."
