Bill Ellis. IYKYKThe atmosphere isn't even close. It's very much like a standard fast food outlet, but who comes here for atmosphere?The fried chicken is the star. Fresh, crispy, and delicious, this chicken might even rival Parker's. My only complaint is that I don't think I've ever seen such small chicken parts. The bbq is pretty good, not the best but very far from the worst. Sides are the usual choices. Slaw and boiled potatoes are standard, stew was damn good, yams taste like dessert which is exactly as it should be, and collards left something to be desired. You get a choice between hush puppies and ENC corn sticks, which I appreciate as I've never cared for corn sticks, but the puppies would have been a lot better if they were fresher. I brought home a container of chicken pastry so we'll see how that goes. Next time - and there will be a next time - I'm getting the fried liver and gizzards. Any place that serves fried livers owns a piece of my heart (probably the part that the cardiologist tends to). The parking lot is small but there's overflow parking adjacent. i am honestly so disappointed in this place, martys . i felt like getting some today because why not my family picked up an order through the drive thru. my order the main focus consisted of 5 wings, a side of Brunswick soup and a side of green beans. cool. so they gave me two sides of collards and a little cup of brunswick soup i was beyond furious. i was having a bad day and i was hungry and they messed up my food great. the next point, we order three chew breads, they definitely forgot it and we had to drive all the way back to receive it . they just mess up alot . its nice little set up but they need to get there stuff together because this is unacceptable and just not right ESPECIALLY when im paying you my money for the food i asked for... and their food is mid its not that good i swear. recap- they forgot alot our stuff and their food isn't that great

Best fried chicken I've had in a long time. The banana pudding was delicious. The service was amazing. We reccommend Marty's BBQAmbiance? I went there for the food.

I was recommended this place based on my love for Bill Ellis food. This place was opened by his son, so you know the food is going to be about the same - right? First off, the location is a bit hard to navigate as the there is very little parking, the line is around the building, and you have to make sure you are going to right direction to enter. I was there during a busy timeframe - so that was a little overwhelming to deal with for a first time. However, I give it to them they have a system in place where you the staff is friendly and get you in and out as fast as possible. Within the drive-thru (how I ordered) they came to the car took the order via a pad, you drive up to another window and pay, then you go to the last window to get your food. A rule of thumb, if you forget something - THEY WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO ADD IT ON. I saw this message all over the building. They stated it causes issues, which I can understand. So, keep that in mind. If you want something additional get back in line or walk in and order it. For the amount of food we got, the pricing was very good! However, I do have some elements of what we got that I wouldn't go back for and there are somethings I would! What would I go back for? The chicken - juicy and fresh! The chew bread - amazingly good - want some now.The liver - cooked good, made to order with great flavor (need to ask for additional gravy next time).The banana pudding - very very very rich, but good. What I wouldn't go back for? Yams - where is the seasoning? Green beans - where is the seasoning? Slaw - celery seeds - yuck! Mac and cheese - not horrible but nah you can keep it.The location inside looked to be clean and well lit. We might go back to try some of the other items on the menu. Not something I would run back - just a if I am in the area and have a taste for (fill in the blank) I will stop here.

Food service was mostExcellent HIGHLY RECOMMEND but come before noon. It gets busy so I recommend going around 11 for lunch

I love Marty's. The best bbq I've tried in or around town. I will go out of my way to get some banana pudding. And don't get me started on the chew bread

I've eaten here plenty of times. Customer service is always excellent. This time, my food wasn't as good. The chicken & dumplings weren't good. I had to add seasoning salt. The sweet potatoes were okay. I think they switched cooks. Very disappointed. And I drove 53 miles. I should have ordered the fried chicken. Drive thru is always long BUT it moves fast. The inside does as well.

We are driving back to NY from FL. We were craving famous NC BBQ.Based on reading reviews we decided to venture from the hotel. Its a gem of down home cooking. The BBQ sauce was juicy and tangy. The collards were nicely chopped and not bitter or greasy. Mac & cheese was spot on. We got there at 4pm on a Saturday night and the crowds were starting to arrive. The staff is super helpful and courteous. My only complaint is that I didnt order a large dinner I received 2 very tiny pieces of chicken. I don't normally eat meat and this was delish! Next time we drive through we will be back!

Okey, okey, okey.... This bbq is amazingWe had a taste of pretty much everything! Hush puppies are AMAZING! Like truly amazing!Pulled pork was also amazing so was the fried chicken.We also had Brunswick stew, boiled potatoes, and Cole Slaw all very good.I am glad we stopped here !

Very good service Food is on the money Price is very reasonable Cat fish is very good and the vegetables are very good alsoDessert are very tasty People are very helpful and friendly Just needs a bigger place Drive though is always busy
