Hot diggity dog....I LOVE me some biscuits and this place makes a helluva good biscuit. I won't lie, $5 for a bacon or sausage and $6.80 for a chicken biscuit took me by surprise BUT I didn't need two to fill me up. So I guess that's better in the long run. I did add a side of hash browns for $1.60.As busy as this place was on an early Saturday morning they knocked out a heavy line inside and a long drive thru QUICKLY. These ladies know what they are doing and I'll possibly dream about that chicken biscuit within the next week. Sorry I didn't take pictures....I couldn't control myself.

Food was pretty good overall. I ordered salmon, bacon, scrambled eggs, and cheese grits. I asked for hard scrambled eggs but they came out too soft and wet for my taste. The grits were runny with too much butter for my taste. Also ordered ham biscuit. They placed a lot of ham on it. Yay! The person who took my order at the register was very nice. The inside seats no more than 60 people. It reminds me of a small old fashioned diner. They even have a drive-thru window. You actually drive up to the window and place order with a real person. I went for breakfast. I understand they get pretty busy during lunchtime. They are open from 5:30am to 1:30pm.

Hadn't been to this restaurant for several years. So wanted to try again. Noticed the store was cleaner and updated with curtains and new table tops. The kitchen staff was pleasant and helpful. We had chicken and fish. Both were good. Sides were Mac and cheese, turnips, peas, green beans. Vegetables were just straight out of can. Just so so. Biscuit was good. Tea was good. And had bread pudding. I know times have changed but thought was a little overpriced at $25.

This is the best southern cooking fast breakfast spot. I haven't tried their lunch yet, but from what I've seen for breakfast, it has to be wonderful. Don't worry if you see a long line they will get your order taken care of quick. I've eaten here twice this week so far. I get the grits, eggs, & bacon with biscuits. Their biscuits are wonderful. My husband gets biscuits and gravy and he really enjoys it. I recommend this little gem of a restaurant!

I just wished that they had gluten free biscuits. Great eggs, bacon & grits. If you're Gluten free, make sure there's no gravy scoops over the grits or eggs. Yummy!

I've been in Covington for 20 years now and decided it was about time I tried breakfast at Mamie's Kitchen. The service was quick, the food excellent, and the prices reasonable. My only problem is looking at a long day of yard work ahead of me something lighter than the Biscuits and Gravy might have been wiser. Maybe I'll just go back to bed.

The location is not the best but the food is so good! Soul food! They're always busy with cars all the way in the street sometimes. Friendly and courteous employees. Reasonable prices. A good place for breakfast and lunch...soulfood style.

We were desperate for breakfast in a small town on a Monday. Mamie's was all we could find open. Super friendly staff and great service. Loads of people in and out. Loads of cars in the drive thru. However, eggs were over cooked, biscuit was dry, and the grits were soupy. The sausage was really good.

I've been building this place up in my mind for a long time. My husband and his family are here when he was a child. They are closed on Sunday which is usually the day we are in the area. When I found out we would be passing through on a Saturday, I was pumped!! We arrived around 11:30, and you'd have thought it was 3PM. Chairs were on top of the tables in the restaurant and they were not making any food. What they had under the hot lights was all they had for purchase. They also were not serving lunch that day- just breakfast. Which meant the food under the lights was looking pretty sad. Counter service was ok- and my biscuit was good, but it was not the glorified pillow of heaven I'd built up in my mind. Across the board I was disappointed. I won't turn down another Mamie's biscuit, but I'm not going to go out of my way for it again.
