One of my favorite spots on BuHi - and surprisingly never wrote a review, until now. Looking at an old draft never published - Curry Puff Pastry was $3.95, Chow Kway Teow $8.95, Haiwanese Chicken $11.95 ... definitely a long time ago! My new favorites - Lemongrass Chicken, Black Pepper Beef, and Salt & Pepper Squid. Small spot so you'll want to avoid peak times. Parking lot is not great. Health score 80 is concerning but didn't stop us from eating here. Service is friendly. LEMONGRASS CHICKEN - $18The flavors of this dish were really out of this world - lots of bell peppers. Very good!BLACK PEPPER BEEF - $18Also great flavors - accompanied by the same veggies - lots of bell peppers. Very good!SALT & PEPPER SQUID - $18Portion was great - tastes like the Cantonese version. So good!MAMAK TOFU - $17Fried tofu topped w/ minced pork in mild spicy sauce. Listed here but ordered a year ago - the gravy tastes very good w/ rice. Big tofu pieces. Good! CHOW KWAY TEOW - $15Penang's famous wok-fried flat rice noodles w/ shrimp, squid, egg, and bean sprouts. Agree w/ the other recent reviews - disappointing, very bland. GREEN BEANS - price?Apparently they also serve green beans topped w/ the minced pork - not on the menu though. Ordered but it was also bland - my friend said it's usually very good. May try again next time. Overall great spot to visit - great menu. I'll be back to get the lemongrass chicken, black pepper beef, and you guessed it - salt & pepper squid!

Not sure where to begin but we were seated pretty quickly, the restaurant was pretty busy but there were still a few empty tables. Long story short, as soon as we placed our appetizer order, one of the employee asked us to move to a different table because there is a bigger group coming (this is a bad service, especially when there are 4 tables empty that can fit the big group). But let's jump to the food review:We ordered chow kway teow, wonton curry soup, and salt & pepper squid. - Chow Kway Teow is charred beautifully (wok hey). However, the taste is bland and lacking of depth. 6/10.- Wonton Curry Soup is actually delicious! 9/10 - Salt & Pepper Squid also has perfect seasoning. However, it's a bit chewy and not really crispy. Therefore I think it's 8/10We also ordered Malaysian Iced Coffee and it was pretty good. Now to the service. On top of moving us to a different table, nobody really asked us about the food and to go box (even though they asked if we're ready for check). Well overall it's a 6.5/10 experience. Ambiance of the restaurant is also okay.

Mamak is always one of my staple go-to restaurants. They offer a wide variety of Malaysian Indonesian food, and each one is delicious. You can't go wrong with any of their noodle dishes, soupy dishes, chicken dishes - pretty much anything. I've yet to have one thing I didn't like there. Highly recommend the hainanese chicken!

Today's experience was awful! The guy at the host booth was extremely rude when I had questions about the menu, dismissive and even rolled his eyes at me when I asked if their restroom is public. Never had bad service before that is until today. SMH! But the food was of course still on point. My recommendation is to have low expectations and perhaps know what you want *shrugs shoulders*. Oh one more thing. While I was there, I overhead an interaction where the customer thought they ordered at this location and was in need of help. The same rude guy was so unsympathetic with the customer; refusing any resolution. I felt so bad. Don't know why that worker got a stick up his

came to eat for 2 Roti Canai - fresh and hot, get it!curry laksa - has flavor, but could be more, to give more wow factor. Decent otherwise. noddle is fine. spare ribs were also good. about 6 pieces or so.The broth is quite light and not in a thick version. Mango chicken - fried chicken was done well. some piece with less chicken inside and more outer crust. Flavor was good, and you do taste the mango influence. tons of mango slices (would say more the less ripe mango)Dish was like a mango version of orange chicken. Has a sweet and tangy flavor. Enjoyable.Rendang beef - meaty and some potatoes and just meat. good spice and flavor, authentic. Goes well with rice. definitely need another dish to cut the taste buds. would recommend Service was straight to point.no complaints.

I wanted desperately to have some amazing food here. Being from Singapore - this food felt like home. The chicken fried rice was fantastic , no faults there however the lor mee was bland and nothing like you would get back in Malaysia or Singapore. However I did ask for some "sambal" or hot chili paste and vinegar (note they have no black vinegar) and it improved the dish Service was fast, great -No loud music, good space between tables - I have heard good things from this place so will be back in no time to try other dishes

This restaurant was amazing! Came highly recommended and we ordered 3 dishes for the 2 of us:- Roti canai- Curry laksa- Chow kway teowI've been to Malaysia and the food here at Mamak was SOOO good. We finished every drop on our plates of the roti canai and the laksa, and I took some of the noodles home as leftovers which I promptly devoured the next morning, they were so good. Everything had the right flavor, spice, and texture. I cannot wait to return and try more things!

It's a nice casual spot located in the sweet hut Doraville Plaza, there's a lot of pot holes it the parking lot but nothing too crazy. The Chow Chow Kway Teow was very bland and I couldn't detect any specific flavor other than bean sprouts. However, texture of the noodles were good and there was plenty of protein in the dish. I probably wouldn't order this dish again. The curry Laksa was standard, but a lot of my noodles were broken up and hard to pick up with chopsticks. I liked the overalls flavor of the dish though. I really like the Roti Canai, it was crisp and definitely my favorite part of the meal. The Thai ice tea had a strong tea flavor that I enjoyed and the ratio of milk to tea was good. I would come back but I would probably look into different entrees.
