Nice place for a dinner with family. Our waitress, Victoria, was so patient as she customized the orders for our family. The spicy chicken cubes is very, very spicy. Chicken with a rice wafer and lots and lots of red peppers. Too spicy for me, but my father-in-law loved it (after he moved away the red peppers)!! They even offered to make something else, but we politely declined. My order, the lotus root in west lake was delicious. Lotus root. Wood ear mushrooms. Baby bok choy. King oyster mushrooms. Broccoli. Added lamb for protein. So tasty! The chicken with vegetables and a brown sauce was created completely off the menu for our family. So many vegetables. It was so good! The stir fry beef was okay. Checked in on Yelp for 10%. Limited parking, but only one other family was dining in on a Saturday night, so there were plenty of spots. Took a while to get the food, but there was a lot of takeout while we waited so I am sure that the kitchen was busy. Would definitely go here again.

My little brother took me here a while ago, and I completely forgot to review it. This is a great authentic Chinese restaurant, with nice decorations inside and super friendly staff. We ordered a variety of dishes including the spicy boiled fish, spicy chicken cubes, stir-fried pea shoots, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and a few others. They all tasted great and satisfied our hunger. Everything tasted authentic and perfectly spiced. Also, I absolutely love how they include shank in the Mr. and Mrs. Smith dish.I will have more to add when we return next time, but overall it was a great experience. My little brother returned the next day to indulge in the same dishes a 2nd time. He said this was one of his favorite Houston Chinese places to eat at.

Live close to the area and this restaurant really surpassed my expectations for authentic Chinese! Really recommend the fish and the mapo tofu. It looked like many of their orders were takeout, but definitely recommend for sichuan. I'll be back!!

We love this place! It's family owned and the prices are very fair with the food being very good portion sized! The indoor seating is ample, but not ideal for large parties. We had a party of 8 last time and there's no round tables like most bigger Chinese restaurants so with the food places linearly on the table, it's hard to get the food from one end when you're sitting on the opposite end. The staff isn't overly friendly but that's ok. I'm used to that at Asian establishments in Bellaire but it isn't the worst I've experienced. They have a 10% off for take out orders on Yelp but the last time I tried it, the staff never heard of it and wouldn't apply it even when I showed them the discount on the Yelp app.

Such a huge fan of Mama's Kitchen! Came in on a Friday evening and was seated immediately. The restaurant is small, cozy, and family-run. The food came out less than 10 minutes after ordering, and everything was absolutely delicious. We got the Mapo Tofu, Dan Dan Noodles, Cumin Lamb, and Sweet & Sour Cucumbers. My favorite was probably the Mapo Tofu--spicy, saucy, flavorful, and it even makes great leftovers!Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.

The last few years have seen an explosion of Chinese restaurants popping up all throughout the loop and most of them specialize in Sichuan cuisine. Of all the hot spots (#1), I find that Mama's Kitchen has been the most consistent and at times, one of the better options in this part of town. There are only a handful of parking spots out front and the plaza that it's located in is way smaller than it looks. That also means the interior is on the smaller side, but it's sufficient enough to handle big groups and intimate booths. It's a clean dining room and can probably fit up to 50 folks at once. It's rarely busy here, so I wouldn't worry too much about getting a table pending party size. I wish the adjacent lot was connected, which would alleviate some of the access issues from Richmond Ave.Interior and parking logistics aside, the food is the true highlight. Their variety is not too dissimilar from what's offered at the competing establishments around, but their execution and service is better overall. Their braised soft bacon (梅菜扣肉) is so fatty that it melts in the mouth, best enjoyed with rice. The salted egg yolk corn (金沙玉米) is simple compared to the rest of their dishes, but well done enough to where I'd order it over and over. Their broiled fish in hot oil (水煮魚) is soft and very authentic. One of the best things they serve is the braised red pork (紅燒肉) which is as homey and as savory / sweet as one would want. For non-spicy eaters, beware of the dishes that have a pepper listed next to it.As noted, the service is what sets them apart in my eyes from the rest. I realize that the catered audience is mainly non-Chinese, but that hasn't compromised the authenticity of the dishes in the least bit.__________(#1) Just all me Pun P.

One of my favorite sechuzan places in houston. Cute small restaurant and is always quiet inside. Their food is always delicious and never disappoint. Portion size is big, and each dish is enough for at least 2 people. This time, we got eggplant/green beans, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, diving fish, and dry fried intestines. If you haven't tried it yet, it's a true gem. I highly recommend to people and everyone liked this place so far!

Great location, no reservation needed and limited but available parking. Walked in on a Friday evening at 730 and was seated immediately. Staff was super friendly and attentive, consistently refilling our water. Food was sooo delicious and authentic. Be careful if you can't handle spice because it's definitely high levels of spice but the flavor profiles are incredible it's definitely worth it. My favorite was the cumin beef and the shrimp and beef sizzling pot. The pork belly was also very yummy but if you're not a fan of fatty meat maybe skip this one. Cabbage was nice and crispy as well. Would eat here anytime! Definitely recommend.

The ambiance is business casual with tasteful minimalist decor. The service was absolutely incredible !!! Our waitress was incredibly kind, sweet, and quick. She kept kindly checking up on us and when we over-ordered, she quickly canceled one of our dishes. The chefs were also very very fast and got the food out literally within 5 minutes of ordering. The food was SOOOOO GOOODDDD omggg. The peppercorns actually made our lips and mouths numb like they're supposed to, and the chilies were deliciously spicy and packed with flavor and umami. The food was a bit salty, but I was still a very happy little boy.

I feel lucky to live so close to Mama's Kitchen, definitely a comfort food spot for me. I love the spicy chicken cube dish, and all the stir fry vegetable dishes. Food comes out super quick too! Large portions which is normal for Sichuan cuisine, so it's nice to dine with a large group. But I don't mind the leftovers either when it's just 2 or 3 of us. I've also had the boiled fish, cumin lamb, dan dan noodles - they were all very good. Need to try new items next time, but it's hard when I already have favorites If you like spicy food, definitely recommend. If spicy is not your thing, try their fried rice with shrimp. Another delicious dish!
