I've been here half a dozen times and this place is consistently good. Their enchiladas mole are excellent. Their beef fajitas are top-notch tender and flavorful. Monday and Wednesday, they have Fajita Night ($27 for 2 people) and it's a real deal! The service here is always great. I've interacted with several servers and the manager, and everyone is friendly. Service with a smile!I've also picked up food to go and it's on time. Portion sizes are generous.

This well-known local chain now has a location at Gosling and Root. We got takeout from there the other night on a busy evening. We had the yellow queso with chips, the El Capitan (grilled shrimp with pork carnitas), and chipotle enchiladas. We ordered direct from the restaurant to avoid delivery commissions for them. One nice touch is that they send all three of their salsas with takeout. The queso was standard, chips were fine also. I mixed in some of the red salsa with the queso and it made a really nice combination--the salsa had a lot of flavor and was mildly spicy. The salsa verde was the spicy one of the bunch--good flavor and an intense kick. They also had a chipotle salsa that had a pretty good kick of its own and good flavor. All tasted homemade. The El Capitan shrimp were quite good, properly cooked with lots of paprika and other spices, they had some kick but very manageable. The pork carnitas were good also, tender and moist with plenty of onion. I was happy with the dish. The chipotle enchiladas tasted good but from the description we thought they'd be creamier, more like the sour cream enchiladas. Not a real knock on them. They were very spicy, with the salsa verde it's for serious heat lovers. For sides we had charro beans, refrieds, and rice. The charro bean soup was pretty good, salty with good bacon flavor. The rice was a saffron rice, which I like better than the tomato-chile rice. On its own it was on the dry side, but was good with the other things. Refrieds were fine.We didn't get dessert, since it really doesn't travel well for the most part. But I would have ordered the fried ice cream, it was a great looking presentation--ice cream topped with corn flakes in a pastry shell. Also looked like they had free ice cream.I went inside to pick up my order. It took a bit longer than I would have liked to get waited on, though not seriously so, and the order was ready for me. The order was correct, which does not always happen with takeout for more than one person. The interior is pretty basic--one square room with tables pretty close together, and it was busy so on the noisy side. You're kind of on top of the dining area at the doorway. The restaurant is a mask-free zone--no one present was wearing one.All in all it was fine, a strong three stars but not four. I'm just not sure why I'd prefer it to other Mexican places in the area. If you're a fan already and live nearby then it's great to have one convenient.

Been here three times for take out it's always insanely good! Mole? Great. The camarones la diabla are so crazy good! I wasn't the biggest fan of the crawfish enchiladas, then again, I'm not a big cream sauce fan - I just wanted to try something new. The fajitas are really solid as are the carnitas and enchiladas verde. We live like three minutes away, so even the sopapillas are totally fresh and awesome! We're dining in next time, and there will be a next time!!

This has been our go to neighborhood place for a quick margarita and some Mexican food. We have gotten to know the staff pretty well. We haven't been in a long time so we stopped for a quick bite. Service was still very good although we didn't recognize anyone we knew, except who we assume is the manager/bartender. The service team is always very attentive, I order a fish entrée that comes in a cream sauce with mushrooms and shrimp. I have ordered it many times but the last two times it has been served smothered in peppers and onions. Peppers and onions are not in the description on the menu. And as I said, I've had it many times the correct way. I have nothing against peppers and onions, except that I don't want them on my fish. We keep trying to explain to them that the chef should not be adding things to dishes, particularly if someone maybe allergic to those ingredients. This last visit I specifically told the waiter make sure the chef does not put any peppers and onions on this dish but sure enough the fish came with huge quarter inch strips of pepper sticking out of it. I was so pissed off so my husband asked for a new plate. The waiter brought back the exact same plate in which someone had just grabbed all the peppers they could see and pulled them out of my dish. Not very appetizing after that and all you had to do was move the shrimp and the cheese to find six or seven more peppers. My husband literally took the plate and the menu to the server and said to make it exactly as it is on the menu. They brought my plate back out which was absolutely the fish that I had taken a couple bites from just stripped of all the toppings and fresh toppings put on it. Needless to say, I left it on the table and we left. The manager witnessed my plate going back two times and never even came over to find out what was going on. In fact, when we left, he was eating fajitas at the bar with a customer. Needless to say we will not be returning which is a shame because we really enjoyed our little local spot. Never claimed it to be the best food but the service was always so excellent it kept us coming back. And to be given such a lame excuse to say, the chef does what he wants, particularly when you ask for those things specifically not to be added. Not a good game plan. It might be why there were only two other couples in the entire place at dinner time.

Horrible experience. Purchased take out order of fajitas for two and got food poisoning. I have been sick for three days, missed day of work and had to go to Urgent Cate. You do not want this experience.

I can't believe this. I took my 3 kids here (Friday around 11am) and 2 order from the kids menu and my 10yr orders from the LUNCH MENU (mind you only because the portion of a kids meal is too small for a 10 yr old) and everything was great until I realized they tried scamming me. I explained that I was charged for something that's supposed to be free or the lunch price (they said it was dinner size). Whatever right well this was the biggest issue I had -Why advertise free drink and ice cream for kids meal when you sneaky charge for it. Then I was explained since the machine for ice cream is broken they must charge for it because they brought out some other ice cream. THAT IS NOT A CUSTOMERS FAULT FOR A BROKEN ICE CREAM MACHINE SO THEY SHOULD NOT DO THAT!
