Mama Bird's Ice Cream

After trying Mama Bird's ice cream at the pimento cheese festival in Cary, I was excited to see they have a shop in Holly Springs. The spicy pimento cheese ice cream they served at the festival was surprisingly delicious. They certainly whipped up some magic with that flavor. If they could pull that off I knew their other flavors would be excellent, and spoiler alert, they are!Their Holly Springs location and storefront is quite unassuming. I would not have noticed it if I hadn't seen it on Apple Maps. It is located in a strip near Holly Springs Gas and Grocery (which is really just grocery since there are no gas pumps). Parking is available in several spots right out front and beside adjacent stores. This time we tried buckeye, flan, and mojito. It took a lot of will power for me to not ask to sample every flavor. Usually I would choose a flight, however, I was in the mood for a milkshake. Thankfully I was the only customer in the store and the employees were very patient. Eventually I decided on a pint of flan and a buckeye milkshake. Typically I would have gone with mojito as it had the perfect refreshing summer taste, but wanted something a little more sweet.In addition to ice cream, they offer frozen bananas, ice cream sandwiches, cookies, brownies, rice krispy treats, cakes, and cookie cakes.Prices are comparable to other local ice cream shops. Definitely pricy, but in line with others. A pint was $9 and milkshake without whipped cream was $8. I did appreciate how they subtracted a dollar from the milkshake cost when I asked for no whipped cream. Overall we are fans of their flavors and excited to return to try other options and then check out their sister shop in Apex.

this, is a very surprisingly good hidden place. It's in a little old strip shopping strip mall whereas it looks like a old gas station used to be there but mama Bird has been there for a long time. They have a great selection of ice cream and the worker that service that day was really good. She was very attentive gave us some samples and overall some of the product was really good.I do really enjoy the fact that they have non-ice cream related items as well but those who are dairy free they had sorbet.overall, I think it was a great experience. Hope to go there soon again I was very impressed and the kids liked it, and the prices were really affordable.

Super cute ice cream shop specializing in small batch homemade ice cream. They have a variety of flavors and give samples. They have unusual flavors like Queen Bee is a carmel honey that was out of this world. Their rift on more mainstream flavors like Orange Creamcicle includes candied orange peel which absolutely elevates an already delicious flavor. Simple flavors like vanilla and chocolate are very rich and creamy. They make beautiful ice cream cakes, flying saucers/ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream bars in a grab and go format. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. If you love Sunny Skies but don't enjoy the drive to Angier, this is the spot for you!!

I've been to at least three shops in this area and Mama Bird's flavors are my favorites. The ice cream is creamy and not grainy. Get the Creme Brûlée when it's available - you won't be sorry! The staff is polite and engaging each time I visit...which is a lot. This is definitely my go-to place for a sweet ice cream treat.

I love this place. My favorite flavor is cookie monster, I highly recommend it. I know my dad's favorite is vegan pina colada, I also recommend that. Also when you go in you're greeted with smiles. And the place smells amazing.

Because I was at an ice cream place the other day, Yelp threw this shop in my face as soon as I opened the app. So, I came over.Don't tell ME those manipulation tactics aren't successful...There was a good assortment of flavors, which I liked. Overwhelm me with awesomeness instead of mediocrity and I'll be your friend. I might even write about you on the internet. I had planned on ordering the Dolce de Leche and Creme Brulee, and also a cup of Salted Caramel Brownie and Sugar Cookie. When I saw how big the scoops were, I canceled the first choices and went with the latter instead. Among the two, the SCB was flashy with flavor. The SC was more subdued, but still made its presence felt. I can't say which one I preferred, which is a good thing. Again, overwhelm me with awesomeness. This was an fine ice cream experience. The shop is clean enough and accomodating enough. The people behind the counter seemed kind and happy. Leaving the parking lot can be a pain, depending on which way you're going. If you're trying to get back to 55, best of luck to you. A.

They never have any chocolate flavors so not my favorite place but people who don't love chocolate I've come with really enjoy the large assortment of flavors that rotates. I enjoy the brownie sandwiches and think the price is pretty reasonable. Not great seating inside but there a little area to sit outside that's solid. Service is fine, usually quiet teenagers who are nice enough. Definitely worth checking out because you may love it and worst case you will think it's just ok like me.
