This might just be my new favorite restaurant! I loved everything I ate so much that I had to order extra to take home. I went with the short rib platter, a side of garlic shrimp, and the spam musubi--don't forget to get a side of that delicious teriyaki sauce! The pasta salad was incredible and paired perfectly with the short ribs, which were tender and seasoned just right. The garlic shrimp were finger-licking good and seriously addictive. It was the ultimate comfort meal, and I'm so happy Philly finally has good Hawaiian food--something we definitely needed! On top of the amazing food, the service was fantastic, and I felt so welcomed. The restaurant was clean and had a nice space for dining in. I absolutely love it here!

Mahalo is a welcome addition to the Philly Food Scene. Like Hawaii itself, Mahalo offers laid back, simple yet amazingly tasty food that you truly enjoy. I brought a friend and between the Kalua Pork and BBQ Chicken Combo Meal, the BBQ Short Ribs, the BBQ Beef and the can of nostalgia that I had (Hawaiian Sun Fruit Punch), I was brought back to those simple comforting meals I'd had years ago on Kauai. (BTW the Macaroni Salad was "just right..." not too sweet like some places. My compliments to the friendly staff and especially the chef! Mahalo (thanks) is DEFINITELY the word I want to use!

Happened to pass by this place and it had good reviews on Google so I stepped in. I got the chicken katsu and loco moco lunch specials ($10.99) each. It came with a drink of your choice (they have a cooler with cans of Hawaiian Sun). The katsu had a very THICK crunchy exterior (not my preference). The cut pieces had a thick visible layer of egg/flour batter and then panko breadcrumbs on the outside but strangely, not traditional like any katsu I've had in Asian restaurants. The chicken was thigh meat but on the thinner side and pinkish, even after being presumably fully cooked through. It was also oddly served with a Chinese-style sweet and sour dipping sauce, not Japanese donkatsu sauce.First time having Hawaiian style Mac salad and it was alright. The loco moco meat was ground beef that was dry/chewy (like 80%). The egg on top was also sunny-side up when we requested it be fully cooked. I've had loco moco in Maui once, and the brown gravy sauce here seemed inauthentic (watery and soupy). The meat for both menu items is put on top of a layer of shredded cabbage that was very dry and seemed pulled pre-cut from a salad bag.

I was excited to see a Hawaiian place in the neighborhood. We got the Garlic shrimp and Grilled Spam Saimin. The Garlic shrimp wasn't bad but also not exactly like you get at the famous trucks in Maui so I was slightly disappointed. I thought the platter could have more shrimp than rice. The platters come with a side of macaroni salad which was also ok. The Saimin is like noodles and meat in miso soup. The grilled spam in the Saimin was quite flavorful. The dessert, Coconut cream with Mango, was the highlight of our meal. The food is served in to-go boxes so might as well do take out instead.

Got it via Uber Eats. Food portion so had plenty for the next day. The shumai were amongst the best I have had. Definitely want to try the rest of the menu as there are many options.

Finally, Hawaiian food in Philly!Taste: 4/5, Value: 4/5, Service 4/5We have been craving Hawaiian food since we came back from a trip there this summer. The place is small with a few tables. You order with a kiosk which was convenient. We got the Kahlua pork and katsu curry (with curry on the side). The Kahlua pork was a little dry, but had a lot of delicious juices. The katsu was the highlight and was crispy and juicy with very large portions. The curry was rich and flavorful. The mac salad was also very fresh and yummy. The spam musubi was a little bland and the seaweed was slightly chewy but it was still tasty.

Big portions, lovely staff, and incredible food... what more could you ask for? I absolutely LOVED this place and can't wait to be back! Everything we ordered was incredible and the place was extremely busy with tons of people coming in and out and online orders. Everything is made to order and I especially liked their Chicken Katsu with Curry because the katsu remained perfectly crispy despite being drenched with the amazing curry. We also tried their spam musubis which are also a 10/10 because the sauce coating the spam wasn't too salty. The BBQ Mix Plate is perfect for those who can't decide between beef or chicken and the Loco Moco was incredible with thick beef patties and an insane gravy. They also have so many Hawaiian Sun flavors available which is an extra plus to go with your meal!

Garlic Shrimp plater $13.50 comes with two scopes of rice and one scope of macaroni saladThere are options for "mini meals" which is one scope of rice instead of two. I like that there is this option. Not everything on the menu is under this option thoughOrders comes out fresh so there will be a wait after you order

Had a huge craving for Hawaiian food one day which was what led me to Mahalo Hawaiian BBQ. The first time we came we ordered a chicken katsu mini meal and a garlic shrimp platter. The mini meal is such a perfect sized portion compared to the regular platter which was all pretty hefty. The katsu was very delicious, tender chicken but super crispy breading. It paired well with rice and of course the classic Hawaiian Mac. I was a bit disappointed with the garlic shrimp though. If you've ever been to Hawaii and had to chance to order it from one of their popular food truck, then you know. The shrimp was lacking a lot of flavor. Overall, this place is pretty solid. I would definitely go back to try other items on their menu or even to get the katsu chicken again

Super delicious Hawaiian food! The menu is simple yet lots of variety meat combinations with rice and macaroni. The meat to rice ratio is extremely generous which I appreciate. It made the price point very worthwhile. The restaurant is also casual; you order at the counter (self-serve tablet) and sit anywhere for them to bring it to you. There's a decent amount of seating throughout the restaurant, a few tables for 4 and some tables for 2. I highly recommend checking this place out and trying a combination platter for some variety and flavorful meats!
