Magdalena's Trattoria & Pizzeria

Great new gem in the west university area. Renowned chef, sommelier owner, awesome menu, very unique wine list. Great prices. Great cocktails and the food was outstanding.

Good pizza! Fresh ingredients, lovely bread & crust. Casual ambiance but reservations are pretty much a must during peak times. Came with the kids and there wasn't really anything I could order for them. They survived, don't worry lol. As for us adults, we did get an excellent celery salad and a plentiful Branzino! The Margherita pizza was quite good. Service was accommodating and friendly. There was a consistent weird smell in the air, like that of sewage. Could be in the ceiling? This building has been here for quite a while and has gone through its fair share of tenants. I know this because I myself had a business in this building at one point, and didn't have the best experience at the Pei Wei that previously occupied Magdalena's space. I'm hoping they didn't inherit any problems... I'll try it again, but not running back!

This Italian restaurant in Houston is a true hidden gem! The chef's warmth and hospitality set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. He personally recommended the spaghetti carbonara, which initially had me hesitant, but I trusted his suggestion and was blown away by the flavor. Each bite was a testament to the highest quality ingredients, sourced directly from Italy and expertly crafted in-house. In addition to the outstanding pasta, the fried artichoke and taleggio pizza were equally divine. As I reflect on my meal, I find myself salivating as i'm writing this review Must go back soon!

Service was amazing and the Head chef/owner was an absolute delight. The frutti del Mar had exceptional flavor with a mild spice at the end.

The menu at Magdalena's very thoughtful and beautifully presented. Wines are tremendous. But what keeps me coming back is chef Nicolas walks around to make sure every detail about your meal is taken care of. He even brought me biscuits to snack on while I drank my coffee after my meal. The dining area is intimate and quaint. Never overwhelming. Absolutely a gem for me I will certainly be a regular!

The pizza and pasta at the new Magdalena's restaurant was so good. I absolutely loved the margherita pizza and carbonara pasta our table ordered--both were just delicious! The crust on the pizza is a perfect neapolitan pizza.The restaurant is located in the Buffalo Speedway-59 shopping center near Kroger. It's cute inside, with very polite service.

To go order and it's by Buffalo Speedway and Kroger shopping center.Pluses 1. The pepperoni pizza was delish and the cheese was so stringy and tasty.2. Osso bucco was good 3. Panna Cota has great texture and very light Areas to improve 1. Not sure why it took so long to pay for my order, they had three employees trying to figure the bill out. Great Italian cuisine and we will try again.

This place is nice and not too loud. Clean interior. Pizza was okay. Didn't have much flavor even with the broccoli and sausage. The tortellini is like a children sized plate or an appetizer. The Caesar salad also like a small side dish. Everything is over priced for what you get. I left still very hungry. And getting my second dinner now.

Really torn. I thought the food was ok to pretty good. Had a couple of pizzas - Margherita and taleggio, salad and two pastas. The special pasta with osso buco was delicious. Service was just odd. They sat us immediately, no wait. Great but then we sat there for 15 mins just waiting. Finally waiter came over but wasn't really informative and lacked any benefit. Once order was placed, food did arrive fairly prompt so liked that. Manager/chef Nic I believe was walking around but he doesn't need to be wiping down tables. I'd rather him talk about the food and help educate us on his menu. I might return at some point.

The restaurant is in a shopping center sound of 69 and Buffalo Speedway. We came in off busy hour closer to 4 pm. It was a lovely experience. The owner and chef Nicolas came and explained how everything was made fresh in house. The quality and flavor were spot on. We usually go to the original Carrabas and I think we have a new home. I know it's bad since I can't recall all the fancy Italian names, but we had calamari with great taste and crisp, pizza with essentially pepperoni and seafood pasta that were excellent. For dessert we had the cannoli and tiramisu. The cannoli was made to order since the shell was crisp and inside moist. Definitely when people care and have a passion, good things happen.
