My good and bad experience at Lux TavernI waited to write this review because I was much undone with the DJs. I wanted to reflect on my experiences with having my Birthday party at The Lux Tavern and be fair in my assessment of what I experienced.1. This venue is the bomb.com I love it. 2. The owner (Max) treated me with excellent custom service, however, he has no control over the DJs. 3. The bartenders are always friendly and polite.4. My guest all loved the venue, they found this space very pleasing. 5. The restrooms were clean.6. They allowed me to provide food for my guests.7. The price for reserving the space was economical. ($200 came with a bottle of my choice)8. I had 55 to 60 guest who supported the bar. Totaling 50% of the individuals that were in the venue for the night. (Yes, I counted)9. One of my guess purchased a reserved space and the drink of my choice. ($200)10. Overall the night was great. I had lots of texts and phone calls from my guests the next day about how nice the space was and how disappointed they were with the DJs not playing Soca music in their rotations. The 2 professional DJs that played on October 5th 2019 were very unprofessional. (DJ Towii) (DJ Temptation) he was the one who at least allow a conversation and was polite, unlike (DJ Towii)1. Prior to booking I asked the owner if the DJs would play Soca music in the rotation. I told him I was expecting about 50 people from Trinidad. I share that I loved Afro beats and Soca music. I shared my concerns about my guests and that I would need the DJs to play Soca music to ACCOMMODATE my guest. He assured me that they could accommodate that request. That night I paid him a deposit.2. I visited the venue for the second time just to see the vibes. Again, I spoke directly to the owner. I was assured that the DJ would play Soca in the rotation on that night.3. I ask to speak with the lead DJ to make and in person request about playing soca music in the rotation on that night. Again I was assured by the DJ. 3. On my birthday I stopped by after dinner just to check out the vibes and check in with the owner. Again I was assured that the DJs would play Soca music in the rotation. Night of my party DJ experience.1. I wanted to talk with the DJ (Towii) when he arrived to request that Soca music be in the rotation. He said he was busy setting up and could not talk. Blew me off very unprofessional.2. The DJ (Towii) played Soca music for about 30 min. Mind you this is at 9:45 pm no one is in the club but some of my guests arrived there early. 9pm, After he play that set there was not more music. 3. More of my guests arrived alone with the other guests who came to patronize the venue. 4. By 12 AM he DJs played no more Soca in their sets. A couple of my guests asked if they were going to play more soca. I told them yes it's coming. It never happen so by 12:30 am my guest begin to leave. 5. I am Trinidadian I love Soca and Afrobeats Music. I am so accustomed to our Caribbean DJs playing a rotation of music for who is represented in the crowd, especially if it was requested. If our DJ do not play Afrobeat when I attend an event. I will make a request and they always play some in their rotations. To be fair some of our DJ can be difficult and unprofessional to. At 12:30 I spoke with the owner and so did my significant other(He is Nigerian) the owner made the request 3 times. Still no Soca.6. As we waited some of my guests left and yes I was upset.7. I spoke with the DJ (Temptation) twice and requested Soca in the rotation. The owner even made another attempt. 8. Finally they play 3 old Soca songs and resume back to playing. 9. No more Soca was played. Mind you 50 to 60 percent of my guests made up the crowd that night, which meant the bar was supported and the DJs were paid. My assessment of the DJs very unprofessional and the lead very rude. (DJ Towii). THEY RUINED MY BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCE!My recommendation please have your parties at this awesome venue if you are African and the house DJs will entertain you.If you are of any other nationality make a request to have your own DJ if that is not possible. Go elsewhere, where you and your guest will be respected and treated professionally. DO NOT RELY ON THE UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR OF THE HOUSE DJS WHO WILL NOT ACCOMMODATE YOUR REQUEST AND WHAT YOU PAID FOR. THEY DID NOT EVEN ACCOMMODATE THE OWNER REQUEST. SO WHO ARE WE THE PAYING CUSTOMERS! I WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. AS MUCH AS I LOVE AFROBEAT I MAY NEVER PATRONIZE THIS VENUE. I WILL GO ACROSS THE STREET TO CLUB O42 FOR MY AFROBEAT MUSIC EXPERIENCE. PLUS THEIR SOUND SYSTEM IS MUCH CLEANER.We actually plan on tipping the DJs $100 so I was able to keep my money and I bought my pit-bull a doggie door.#lovethevenue#DISAPPOINTEDWITHTHEDJS

Very good drink and hookah prices. Got 2 adios mfers for $15 and if you have ordered that drink anywhere is 1 for around $15 so it's a deal! The drink was strong in a good way and I will be coming back!

I did not enjoy this venue at all when visiting. Everything is very low quality from the interior, the sound system, and staff. The place is pretty run down and their sound mixing is awful. You can't hear anything in the music other than a staticy bass. The staff is very rude. When asking for a drink their response was "no we don't have that" followed by then walking off and chatting with each other or being in their phone. It took me literally 30 minutes to get a Vodka tonic at an empty bar...I can't see any you would go here other than somewhat cheap drinks. Staff is slow and rude, it's uncomfortable and unaesthetic, super hot inside, and the music sounds terrible. Even if this place is local for you I'd say stay away

I visited Lux Tavern this evening hoping to see Sauce Walka. There were quite a few acts that were really good. Though the acts were great, no Sauce Walka. The DJ kept saying he was on his way. Now, I believe this was merely false advertising from the promoters. They charged $25 and no main act. Do better Lux. Promote what you actually have and stop trying to steal people's hard owned monies. The drinks were pretty reasonable and very watered down. So if they show a headliner, they may be just playing with you all.

Okay hookah , music , drinks & it's cute in there. cool & nice looking owner :) lol , but it's dead. Not alot of traffic , you'll be bored & by yourself basically. If they can draw a bigger crowd or cried at all lbs it would be lit.
