Best tacos are served in deli stores, one of my rules. Lupitas only confirmed it. Few mins off the main road is a local place for locals. Had 3 tacos along with shrimp cocktail. Both were excellent. The server was nice enough to give us another one to try. We entered and quickly realized that were the only non Mexicans there, we got a lot of curious looks. Priced right, no nonsense dining room, great food, local customers packing the place: lupitas is a great place to have some tacos.

Finally found another place that has good lengua and cabeza tacos in NC! The meat was good, and didn't taste strange or overcooked (those of you who have had overcooked lengua or cabeza know what I'm talking about). I was a bit concerned when the salsa bar was completely empty of salsa and pickled veggies, but once the tacos came, bottles of salsa were brought out. You can tell the salsas are made in house and yes, they have spice-heat! (I've visited a few taco shops in the Triangle where their salsas were not spicy... no heat whatsoever, but this place has salsa that has heat.) The salsa isn't so spicy that your tongue dies, but it gives your taste buds a little tingle. (I should also note that I'm used to eating my aunt from Oaxaca's homemade salsa, so my heat tolerance may be different than others.)The taco shop is located in the butcher shop, so you also know you're getting fresh meat. The whole shop was clean and they also had more tables than I thought there would be (I grew up with taco shops that had no sitting room, or only had a few tables.) I got my tacos quickly and the service was great. If you're looking for ingredients to make your own salsa, they have dried ingredients in the store that you can purchase as well. I will definitely be coming back here the next time I'm in the area.

We stopped here randomly on our way out to Burlington from Durham. I ordered a Chorizo Gordita and it was delish! I also had a bite of the pork taco which was pretty good too! It was a a nice atmosphere, clean, well lit, an overall nice space and would certainly recommend it to others!

Fresh tortillas! I don't mean that they were made in the morning. They were made when I placed my order! They were delicious, as was the meat inside of them. I had one each of chorizo, tongue, and beef head. I went at noon, and the place was packed. There are maybe eight tables, with 25 customers eating. You order at the cashier, and your order is delivered to the table. It arrived in less than 10 minutes, newly cooked tortillas and all. Authentic Mexican cuisine, as evidenced by the fact that I was the only non-Hispanic in the place. Always a good sign. The price was right, at $2.75 for the chorizo and cabeza. The lengua was $3.75.I've paid less, but never had such delicious tortillas. Highly recommended!
