Loafers Beach Club

I just finished Beginner Shag Lessons last night at Loafers and it was a great experience. Mike and Barb do an excellent job of teaching in a very relatable manner. Class is on Tuesdays for 4 weeks for an hour per session. Although I have two left feet, I learned enough to be able to fumble through with a patient partner. The most positive aspect of shagging is the people. Great Bunch. The club itself is located off Wake Forest Road heading into Raleigh, and is readily accessible. You have to be a Member (included in your fee for classes $40. No brainer), and they have events Wed-Sunday. Good size dance floor, and ample seating, with bars located both inside and out. It is a good way to meet new people, dance, and enjoy Beach Music. Come on out and try it!

I always feel welcome and i always have fun. the staff is sweet and courteous. drinks are always good and reasonably priced. one of my favorite places.

No better place to socialize and partner dance than here in Raleigh. Wednesday a simple dinner included with dancing until the crowd leaves to Shag, WCS, cha cha, and the occasional Two Step. Thursday is Two Step night. Friday is WCS, and Saturday is Shag. It's a membership club with a low annual fee and a full bar with reasonable prices. Gary and Debbie have downed and run this place over 30 years. Low cost group lessons are available on Monday for WCS, and Tuesday for Shag. There are optional short $5 lessons before the social dances too.

We went in not knowing it's a membership only club and were immediately turned away. We asked if we could join the membership and she said no it's a membership club and turned us away.

To the folks putting the club down, the reason you were not allowed to come in was because you were already intoxicated from partying at the Ritz. You were argumentative and rude. It was early for our dance crowd at the time you came in. At that time, ABC required us to be private so you would have needed to be a member or come in as a guest of a member. Loafers is a great club to go and have tons of fun. Just don't try to come in as intoxicated as you were.

I am so sick of membership clubs in Raleigh. We went in to check it out and were immediately told by Juno from Beetlejuice that it was a membership club. Ok, I'm familiar with this scenario and ask how much it is and she just wouldn't tell me. She kept going on and on about how it was a dance club and I needed to know certain dances. We just wanted to overpay for some bad drinks. I've now surmised from other reviews that membership is $10. Just....no. It looked really awesome inside but since I wasn't told how much membership was we just left left. I am so sick of membership clubs in Raleigh.

Okay, so let me tell you tonight I went to a breast cancer walk and wine event in Waverly place in Cary, NC and Loafers DJ was providing the music for the venue and it was excellent! I walked past twice to see if they had a tip jar but they didn't! I am coming from up north and it's rare that you find a DJ that is well versed in all kinds of music and he was! I absolutely was jamming while I sipped wine! Thank you so much for the great tunes I will definitely come check out your business when I have some free time!!

Beyond Magical . . . My first Friday night West Coast Swing night in a year, what to expect? The early music was pretty good and people danced to it, but now I see it provided a frame for the masterpiece DJ Robin Smith painted that night. One hour in, what I call state altering music begins. Dancing to it, you enter a different world where you are lost in the moment and light years away from this vale of tears. Then another, and another song after state altering song. Like a short vacation. If you like great music, this is the place for you.The owners and the patrons here are friendly and welcoming, the women beautiful, fun and friendly and I highly recommend it.

This is the worst private club I have ever seen. It was entirely empty yet the door lady would not let us in even though we offered to pay their exorbitant fees. I pointed out they could actually make money by letting us in to their empty club. Then the door lady said we could get in if we waited 3 days. I can't believe that a business would turn away paying customers when they had no one there and theta the customer service was so rude. No stats as I would never go here again.
