Love it. This restaurant is buried among the numerous Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Malaysian shops and restaurants in this congested collection of strip stores. I don't have intel to compare with other nearby hot pot options, but I can vouch that this one was pretty good.Service was very good on our visit. Our waitress did a nice job describing the process. I really like that as she placed our orders on an iPad device, the kitchen staff already started brining items out. I have to assume they were were reading our order in real-time.I liked the condiments and appetizer station. It was clean and organized.I would definitely eat here again!

The food itself was very good, and if you come in during a AYCE promotion, that makes things a whole lot better. The waiters were very patient with my broken Chinese, but the main point was that the 老板 owner was very adamant in getting you to give him a 5 star review so you can get the ice jelly 冰粉 for free...The service was incredibly slow and had to remind the servers about our orders several times before they would actually show up.

Hotpot is one of my favorite foods. We called in a reservation for lunch and were seated really fast. The store seems to be understaffed and our server was running all over the place, but we still got everything we wanted in a reasonable amount of time. The selection of meats and broths were amazing though. I opted for the Liu's house special spicy soup base (mild) because apparently it can get extremely spicy. The mild was tolerable, but even then some of my friends could not eat it. We ordered almost every meat cut available and also the lamb skewers. The lamb was not gamey at all! Some notable mentions are the stuffed tofu with fish roe and fresh shrimp (my favorite thing to get) and also the potato noodles! The restaurant is really nice and fancy. There is no ventilation above your tables though so expect to smell like hot pot after.

After a well deserved massage we decided to browse for food options. This place stood out as it was something we have never done. Location: under oasis massage Wait time: we were lucky to be able to just walk in and be seated. After seating down we noticed line started forming and many people wait to enjoy this place. Price: average-high, there is a buffet price per person add $2 for weekends and price can add up depending on type of meats, base and other Items picked. We ended up paying @$130 for 3 people. But we got full way past our limit, so yes lots of food.Drink: we order a watermelon drink which taste just like agua frescas. Very sweet , natural and refreshing.Food: I opt for shrimp only with a spicy base I think Tom yum was called. Lots of veggies options and noodles. Others asked for multiple meats and they said their fave was octopus. Seating: inside, booth or table option.Food display is buffet style, walk to the back pick up tray or bowls and get your own sauce, fruit and add ons. Trays are small to someone like me that is new to hot pot. I definitely over did it . Staff: Rebecca was phenomenal, very patient with us and took the time to explain how it all worked. Also answered every question we had, which were lots.Once food arrived we were giving bibs to avoid splashing ourselves. She also showed us where extra napkins are kept, how to cook and how long. Overall great first time experience and will be coming again.

The first time I came here, my sister called and made a reservation. When we arrived, we were told we had no reservation and that we would have to wait an hour. After some back and forth and showing proof of our phone call, we were able to be seated. The next time I came, our server was constantly socializing with other workers so we could not order. Eventually, the host noticed we had been looking around with no food for a while, and came to take our order in our server's place. This was a little frustrating because we were also rushed to finish our food once it came. At the end of the meal, we ended up being charged an extra weekend fee AND holiday fee that we were unaware of. We dined here on December 16th, so I'm not sure why a holiday fee was applied. Overall, the food was good, but the service made the experience incredibly frustrating, and we were charged with random additional fees on top of that.

This place is killer for AYCE hot pot! Arrived at 5:30pm on a weekday and was able to quickly get a seat. Ordered half and half pot, and tried the house spicy (mala) soup and mushroom soup. First time Ive seen a house soup that is customizable in terms of spiciness level, so def take advantage of that-- or alternatively, try on of the around 10 other soup broths. The menu is interesting in that theres many items included in AYCE, and some items that incur a +$3-5 fee. I wasn't sure what to make of this at first, but think its fair b/c the premium items were all pretty good, and the overall portion size for all the items were on the large size. Quite easy to come in a group of 4 and still only try a fraction of their menu. They also can do AYCD beverages for an additional fee, which is pretty cool since they give you a whole carafe -- but requires the entire table to do AYCD. The place also has a self serve sauce bar and appetizers.Overall flavor, quality of ingredients, authenticity, service speed, value, etc all top notch! Highly recommended! As a data point, this chain also has a location in the Bay Area, but its more expensive and not AYCE.

This was a challenging review to write simply because it was good but the food is TOO spicy to enjoy. And I got the LOWEST level of spice. Trust the waiter when they tell you it's spicy because it is HOT. I had a guest with me from Nigeria and he was used to very spicy food and even he was sweating bullets. I had to switch to a different broth in the middle of the meal because I couldn't eat it, and even that broth was spicy. I heard a table across the way from me talking about the spice as well. This hotpot is very limited to options that you can add to your pot. You can only select the items they have on the menu instead of going to the buffet to get more. They also have a line to wait for your seat so I suggest going early. They do offer some shrimp chips that are really good and lemon water for those who are waiting. Once you are seated, you have a two hour limit to eat. They have a unique menu offering pig brains, duck blood cake etc. I don't know that this will be a hotpot that I go back too, mostly because I don't have the ability to choose what I add to my broth from the buffet. And the length of time having to wait for a seat and how busy it is. Overall it's a popular spot, staff was kind and accommodating.

Liuyishou Hot Pot was a very average, middle-of-the-road hot pot restaurant. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Monday evening. It is located in a very lively shopping center in Bellaire, so parking is quite challenging. There was a 15ish minute wait, and after we were informed that our table was ready we had to wait a few more minutes for the table to actually be cleaned. Our service was good. Our servers took our order quickly and brought the food out promptly. They did forget a few items here or there, but that does not really surprise me considering how much we ordered! The restaurant did not offer large bowls for the soup or broth which made eating interesting. We did the choose two soup base and the all you can eat for four. We chose the duck with Chinese pickled radish soup base and the chicken soup with fish maw base. My preference was the duck soup base but both were very good and flavorful.I was not a fan of most of the meat that was brought to the table. I did not like the flavor of the beef or the lamb; however, this could just be my personal preference. The shrimp and other seafood items we ordered were all very good! Regardless of my preferences, all of the ingredients were fresh! The frog legs were a huge hit with our table but BEWARE - these tiny little frog legs are hot, hot, hot! I went through multiple glasses of water and had to ultimately get up and search for some cold fruit to calm the burn in my mouth, and I love spice!Overall, I did not feel like there was anything particularly special about Liuyishou Hot Pot, especially for the price point. Not bad but not great.
