Lamar & Niki's Pit BBQ and Soul Food

I was never really sure of their hours, but my dad and I decided to stop here and try it out since I drive by it all the time. We took some home to my mom as they were visiting from Colorado Springs. We enjoyed it so much we decided to have that be their last meal before they left the next day! Definitely our kind of hospitality from this family run business! Do yourself a flavor and check it out sooner rather than later like I did! Nice size parking lot, bench outside if the wait is too long and I literally found another fire station that I had no idea was even right next door. The down side, if you are going towards downtown Bryan on Texas Ave you have to turn left at the light before, due to all the medians around town, it has unfortunately affected many businesses. Closed Sunday, Monday and the last Saturday for their family time.

Yum yum! Soul food. BBQ. American. What's not to love. Their greens are amazing! Counter service is pretty fast. It's a small place so be aware during peak times.

Came here for the first time with my wife. We ordered some ribs (flavorful sauce and super tender), fried fish (a little bland, but crispy and better with the tarter sauce), brisket (super tender), and our sides were mac-n-cheese and mash potatoes. They came with cornbread, but it was a little tough and cold.The staff are super friendly and pretty fast. There are some tables to dine on and the parking lot is kind of small.

This restaurant is a little gem just down the road in Bryan. Home-cooked barbecue and soul food! With buffet style "daily specials" and dang good smoked meats, the friendly staff are ready to serve your favorites. It's a cozy little joint for dine-in, but you can take-out as well. The menu includes beef, sausage and pork rib barbecue, and soul food favorites, meatloaf, smothered pork steak, pig's feet, and fried chicken and fish. Sides include candied yams, black-eyed peas, and okra and tomatoes, and nobody cooks cabbage better than Lamar does!

Wowwww!!! What a lovely hole in the wall little gem in CS!! Being from the west coast, I've been wanting to try southern food in Texas and this place did not disappoint. Cafeteria style food with daily specials so you should check their website to know what they're serving that day. I got the country fried steak and the gravy was to die for. The cabbage and black eye peas were seriously perfection. I came in earlier for a brunch take out and it was already half full. The serving lady was so nice! I was so tired I probably looked dead loll she checked on me and wanted to have conversation to make sure I was okay hahahahha i was like yes ma'am I'm just a little sleeepy. But it was sweet that she cared to try to chat with me. Anyways the food, absolutely A1!

Great & friendly service and real good food. Nothing fancy about this food just flavorful, hearty and BIG servings.

There's not much that needs to be said besides wear some stretchy pants and come with an appetite. My husband made a list of every place he wanted to try on our mini trip to College Station, this being one of them. Let me just say NOTHING disappointed. The second we walked in my husband was in heaven the minute he saw smothered oxtails. I ordered the fried chicken and midway through my meal I said go back up and order me some sweet potatoes ( these were literally crack. I was sopping my cornbread in the left over juice). Food AMAZING, and Customer service PHENOMENAL!!Out of every place we tried on our trip this will be our go to spot and I cant wait to get back over there.

My fiancé and I were visiting from Washington State and this place had high ratings so we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. The Catfish was tender and perfectly seasoned.The Brisket and Ribs were smoked beautifully tender and delicious. We also have the Sausge which was very good.The Sides:We had the Baked beans and were good.They use there Salisbury Steak in them instead of Bacon . The Okra could have come out of the finest Italian restaurants in NYC....Stewed Tomato base and a little bit of spice.It was phenomenal. The Candied Sweet Potatoes were the best I have ever had and my Fiance said the Peach Cobbler was amazing. The Service:Super friendly Family operation for sure.Lots of smiles and love in this joint.The Ambience:Clean and comfortable Family restaurant.

Stopped in because of word of mouth and online reviews but will be returning because of the GREAT food. Try this place and see for yourself.
