La Piovra Elkins Park

I'm back in Elkins Park! My first visit to La Piovra was very pleasant. We started with the Spinach Pie, I took one bite and was unable to take another. I was disappointed as I always imagine getting Spanokopita that is fresh, flaky and full of a delicious feta filling! The dough was very difficult to bite through and even more to chew through-I opened the pie, and at best maybe 2 teaspoons of spinach feta filling. However, we can't judge any restaurant based on one appetizer! Next, the mushroom, onion cheese pizza. Whatever the failings of the appetizer's dough, the pizza's dough was spot on. Very tasty, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was topped with a very generous portion of perfectly cooked onions and mushrooms. Great pizza! Next, the La Piovra burger! My friend told me she had the burger there before and it was very good. It was just as good she said, if not better....I agreed! It's a very thick and juicy burger; I know I'm an outlier ordering medium-well - but I like it a nice rich pink throughout, and it was. Very flavorful and juicy served with some very good Pommes frites ( even though it says French fries on the menu, they're a thicker version). Despite the rough start, it was a great meal! We'll be back for the pizza and burgers!

In the mood for authentic Italian food. The small BYOB gem was our first choice. This is a husband and wife establishment. The wife is in the front of the house and the husband Likki is in the kitchen cooking delicious hot meals. I heard the pizza is delicious. There were so many carry out pick up orders for pizza. Next time we will order pizza. We had the grilled shrimp appetizer which was delicious. Also served hot pizza crust bread which was delicious. I ordered roasted vegetables and date had seafood linguine which was on the specials board along with other entrees. The food was cooked to perfection. The serving sizes are nice for the price. I can't wait to return for dinner. They do not have lunch service. When the weather is nice they have outside seating. The husband came out to engage in conversation and ask about our dinner.

Updating as I've now dined in and had take out a few times. The quality and service is so consistent!My husband and I got takeout tonight and it was delicious. I got the grilled chicken souvlaki and my husband got the burger. We both kept repeatedly turning to each other and saying how amazing our meals tasted. So much so, that I was compelled to leave a follow up review.

The best mussels I've had in quite awhile!! And I love mussels!!! Rina was terrific and can't wait to come back.

I ordered pepperoni pizza to go which was good and the calamari grilled. I didn't like the calamari but would order pizza again. Service was quick and staff was pleasant.

Thumbs Up! We just had our second excellent dinner at La Piovra. Such a great restaurant! If you live in Cheltenham Township, you must try it. It's so nice to have a wonderful restaurant in our backyard. Delicious, food, good service, welcoming management, cute décor and BYOB.

Food still good but they stopped making pizzas mid service on Mother's day and kids don't eat entrees like they serve. Not sure what was going on behind the scenes, but some tables had pizzas and I find it hard to believe a wood-fired oven could just break...We left early.

We just finished a meal here. Delicious! Menu is Greek, Albanian, Mediterranean. We had Greek Salad, pizza, beets, potatoes, grilled calamari, souvlaki, and spinach. I would definitely recommend it. BYOB. Lovely staff, and photos of Albania, mades me want to go there. Ran into some friends who say they come here regularly.

Great neighborhood spot. Friendly staff and good food. I'll definitely go back to try the pizza. We were inside and most of us got the Greek food.

Excellent in every way ! The mussels, Vegetariana pizza, and Greek fries were exceptional !
