La Olla Restaurant - Katy

How am I now just reviewing this place? I've been to so many Colombian restaurants in houston and this by far is my favorite. My favorite dish is the bandeja paisa; you truly cannot go wrong with that plate. I usually order take out and they are super fast. Also, I love how friendly they are. 5/5

I've had this place bookmarked for a couple years and I finally pulled the trigger today. So glad I did. My cardiologist would not approve of the lunch I had today but I can't lie. I may do it again tomorrow. The dish consisted of rice, beans, pork belly, sausage, steak, sweet plantains, and an over easy egg. Everything was exceptional but the highlight of the dish for me was the sweet plantains. Sofa king good.

MUY delicioso! I had Milanese de Pollo and sopa. Wow! It was incredibly wonderful and flavorful! I loved it. Prices were also great and server was lovely too. Thank you! I can't wait to bring my husband back here!

Authentic Colombian Food in Katy! I am Colombian and a recent transplant from Chicago. The food at La Olla is phenomenal! When trying a new Colombian spot, I alway judge them by their Bandeja Paisa and their empanadas, both here were perfect and on point. For the uninitiated, a Bandeja Paisa is a hearty platter of steak, fried pork belly, sausage, fried yellow plantain, rice, beans, and topped off with a fried egg. It also comes with an arepa which is a small fried corn pancake. This is a huge plate, enough to serve as your only meal of the day...because it will be impossible to be hungry afterward. All that food for $14 bucks! Give them a try!

AMAZING Colombian food experience. The passionfruit natural juice was my favorite and the bandejas paisas was perfect especially with the green chili sauce. We ordered the coconut flan at the end and it was the best flan I've ever had!All in all loved being here and so reasonably priced (:

I was originally craving a bandeja paisa and found this spot with its amazing reviews. The photos looked great and the decision was made to eat here! There's a decent seating area for a strip mall restaurant and it's open seating so we grab a menu a pick a table. After sitting down and looking at the menu, I opted for the Sancocho de gallina. My partner got the bandeja. We started out with empanadas and that's when the red flags started. First, the salsa comes out in a small open jar; you can see this has been used before as there were crumbs from previous meals. Then I had a bone in my chicken empanada. Moving on to the main dish - the food is visually appealing. The flavors in the bandeja were good however more red flags. 1- the food is not hot. And this goes for the entire meal. Just like momma bears porridge, cold. My sancocho was also barely warm which is not expected when ordering soup. I was also surprised to see a whole quartered chicken in there. So it was NOT fun having to take the chicken apart. Shouldn't have to work hard at eating soup. Overall, service was relatively slow but friendly. The prices are affordable. Food is visually appealing but questionable.

Great food at good prices- but this is authentic, not fancy, not foodie. Speaking Spanish is a plus, which we don't, but the staff is super sweet regardless!We had GREAT seafood dishes, tasty empanadas and good portion sizes with the best plantains I've had in Houston.

I ordered 110 Empanadas, Chicken 10 and beef 100. They were a hit at the party. Crispy and Delicious!!I will come here to have lunch in the future. People are friendly and caring. Prices for empanadas are reasonable. If you are at the Katy location on Fry, don't go anywhere else. This restaurant has the lowest prices!!!SO YUMMY!

The bandeja paisa is delicious and so is the meat empanadas. The service is really good.
