La Montana

Food was fantastic. Out favorites were the Al Pastor, Firecracker Shrimp and the Edamame guacamole. Bartender/Server was great (we chose to eat at the bar). And the chef/owner stopped by to chat with us for a while. The ambience is really beautiful. Definitely will be back to try some of the other dishes

We were so excited to try this place to celebrate our anniversary! We love specialty cocktails and had made the reservation for the cocktails more than the food. Even planned for Ubers so we could enjoy a couple drinks. Unfortunately, the service was less than ideal. We had a 6:45 reservation. Sat down took 10 min for server to come. Didnt have QR code on the table so she went to get it and that took 5 minutes. In the meantime we had already looked the menu up. We ordered drinks and food at once. We got our first tapa at 7:35. No silverware. We asked for some and never got it. My husband's cocktail finally arrived around 7:50. The rest of the food came around 8. We again asked for silverware and got it after our food was delivered. By this time I STILL hadn't gotten my first cocktail. At 8:25 we were finished eating, no cocktail still. I asked for my check at this point and they brought the cocktail at 8:35. Then we asked for the check and it took 20 minutes to bring it. The food was really tasty but the service was horrible. They had one bartender working the entire restaurant, on a Friday night. The service turned me off so much that I hesitate to ever try it again.Additionally, I felt the portions were really small compared to the price. I will say our server was incredibly sweet! It was absolutely not her fault at all and it is clear that they didn't schedule or have enough people working. She was doing her best to manage the tables. She was extremely kind and apologetic and gave me a glass of champagne to make up the wait.

Wowwy wow! Not only is the interior of this establishment stunning, but so is the food! Perfect for a date night, La Montana creates a beautiful, intimate space to enjoy the Asian-Hispanic fusion food. I'm a huge fan of whoever chooses the music or is the DJ because great music & great food help create a memorable experience.Our server was very sweet and gave helpful suggestions. She told us the seasonal dishes and made it easy for us to decide on our meals.We chose to start with the ceviche (which came with substantial amounts of shrimp and octopus, thanks Chef!) and two cocktails: Guiding Light and Sunrise. We ordered the Molcajete and the Quesabirria as our entrées and holy cow!! Not only were they also substantial portions, but the flavor?! The salsa verde! The birria sauce! The juicy chicken and steak! The barbacoa! All super delicious! We ended with the tres leche cake and could not have chosen a better dessert. So moist and sweet! The perfect ending to an amazing meal. The only critique I would have is that there wasn't really much Asian-fusion going on on the menu. Almost all of the dishes were mostly Hispanic-based, with small bits of Asian flavor (e.g. adian tacos). But otherwise, it was an amazing experience and we'll be back the next time we're in the area! 9/10 - please add more Asian dishes and desserts to menu!!

Incredible experience. Enjoyed the lettuce wraps, grilled eggplant and birria ramen. The flavors were all unique and delicious. I split the lettuce wraps and eggplant with my date and we both got orders of the ramen. Atmosphere was perfect, the restaurant has a delightful ambience, the drinks were unique, service was some of the best I've seen. This place is a hidden gem in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area and should have 5 stars.

We were super excited to try this restaurant and drove 40 minutes to get here. Very cute vibe and menu looked really good. They will have to work on the service. Wait staff were very nice but it took 40 minutes to get a cocktail and no food order was taken during that time. We finally left to dine elsewhere since it was 8:00 PM. The bartender/host did bring us complimentary guacamole due to our wait but we were already headed out the door

Want a beautiful & chic spot for date night or a night out with friends, come to La Montaña! This recently opened and when I tell you, the vibes are grown and sexy! The service was top tier and the staff pays great attention to you and your needs. We opted for their tequila flights, but we will definitely be back to try out their cocktails. Chose the La Familia tequila flight because I don't care much for Mezcal which was part of the other flights. Great way to start our night. The food was full of flavor, presentation was beautiful, & the head Chef/owner came out to speak to everyone in the restaurant. He was very pleasant to talk to & was very welcoming. We will be back to try more tequila & try other dishes!

Excited to finally try out La Montana, a new Latin-Asian fusion restaurant recently joining Carrboro food scene. The atmosphere was undeniably my highlight of the experience. We were surrounded by an eclectic fusion of bamboo walls, bold colors, and artistic patterns that create a visually stunning setting.The staffs were friendly and warm; they were happy to offer recommendations and were open to feedback.I considered the food "elevated" dishes with a very strong focus on presentation. Every plate and drinks were certainly crafted to appeal to the eyes, which was lovely for a date night. All dishes we got had a stronger emphasis on Latin flavors (80%) than Asian (20%). A part of me was hoping to explore new flavor profiles; but here at La Montana nothing was as adventurous as I had hoped. Nevertheless, everything was objectively tasty and very enjoyable! Overall, it's a much welcomed addition for the area and we look forward to returning and trying out their brunch one day!

La Montaña is another excellent addition to the Carborro food scene. Offering a beautiful venue amd a gorgeous bar, with tequila as the star. The food is inspired with Latin influences (new menu) amd offers a wide variety of choices for all people, including several vegetarian options. Everything is so fresh and good. The service is always top notch, like our server last night Stephanie (she was so sweet and kind). This is a must try place when I'm Carborro

I love the revamped menu! I had the pho and it was excellent, and I'm looking forward to trying the wings, and the tacos next. The menu has a nice variety, something for everyone. I find portions to be perfect. There are affordable options and service, as always, is wonderful. I also highly recommend the oysters happy hour from 5 to 6. The oysters are fabulous and you can get a half dozen for a very reasonable price! The atmosphere is fun and vibrant and this is a great place to go to for a date night or with a group. Also very welcoming sitting at the bar where there are always people to talk to. I always feel "at home" when I come to La Montaña, one of the best restaurants in the area. Go check it out--you'll be so glad you did!

Wonderful service and food!! Will be coming back. Prices are affordable compared to places around town! Restaurants next door three times as expensive with half the quality of food. Patient and nice staff. Favorite restaurant in the Carrboro area. Growing to become Asian x Mexican fusion. So yummy.
