I drove to Johnson Space Center.I was looking for my lunch place.I found here. Here was located in a large shopping mall.It was kind hard to find. The restaurant was empty.A server came to me quickly.I found some daily special for $9.95. If you are looking for a Tex-Mex restaurant near NASA. Please visit here. Tex-Mex is very Texas cuisine.

We came to the area with the idea of going to Pappas BBQ but for whatever reason the line was outside the door so we decided hey let's try La Familia. It didn't disappoint the chips and salsa were delicious the chips were super crispy we ask for green sauce but unfortunately we did not like the flavor.We order a small queso, the fish tacos, fajitas for one and carne guisada.The queso had a nice flavor for it being just queso the fish tacos were good the tilapia was grill perfect the fajita meat had a fabulous flavor with nice caramelized onions the carne guisada had a great flavor.The yellow rice was good the beans a la charra where delicious and the refried beans were just as good the guacamole was absolutely delicious.Our server Carlos was on point never let the drinks go totally out kept refilling bringing us chips and never left an empty glass on the table. I love that.

Ok so I normally write these long thought out essay style reviews but I'm going to keep this one short and sweet. I grew up in Houston so that's all you need to know of me when it comes to knowing what good Tex-Mex is. Houstonians are the standard bearer when it comes to American Mexican food. If you would like to watch my Youtube video review of La Familia search "Dvdeez Nuts & Popcorn" on Youtube and you will see this video review as my most recent video. Subscribe to my channel and blah blah blah. Ok, now that the shameless plug is complete let's move on to the review. I ordered to go and told the Spanish male by the host stand I wanted a chicken burrito with rice and refried beans on the side. I assumed they had a combo of this nature on their menu. If they do not then it would be his job at that point to say "sir, I'm sorry but you will need to order rice and beans separate. He said nothing to me but "ok sir you want the super burrito meal". I think there may have been a language barrier. Needless to say I never received my refried beans or rice on the side. I get to my car and open the container so I can grab my burrito but the burrito has been drowned in some horrible tasting chili sauce. I took a few bites of this burrito and realized I was eating the worst Mexican food of my life. How can I sum this up for you? Yeah, I think I know. Go right now to your neighborhood Circle K. They have a little refrigerated area where they sell cold sandwiches and what not. They should have a giant bean burrito that might even be called SUPER BURRITO. Take that home and open it up and put unseasoned shredded chicken in it. Then nuke it in the microwave. After that go over to your pantry and go into your hurricane stash can goods section. This is the stuff you would only eat if your were out of power for 30 days and your life depended on it. Yes grab that can of Hormel Chili. Pour the whole can over your burrito and reheat. This will taste better than La Familia.

We visited La Familia Mexican restaurant on 6/30 in Webster, TX. We were looking for a great place for our family members to try tamales, and we found it in this little restaurant in a shopping center. They were able to accommodate our family group of 9 easily. The food and the service were awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone that visits the Houston (Webster) area!

After driving by this restaurant dozens of times we finally decided to give them a try. We went around 1pm on a Sunday. There was less than 6 tables occupied with one waiter to service them all. The waiter did a good job of taking care of us. He delivered the salsa and basket of chips quickly. The chips were thick and delicious. The salsa was good but was too mild for my preference. My wife and ordered half & half margaritas. No complaints about the margaritas. My wife attempted to order the Mexican Tilapia but they were out. She switched to the Mexican pasta which had plenty of shrimp in it. Her only complaint is that is was not spicier. I had the C Combination which included a crispy beef taco, cheese enchilada, tamale, rice & beans. My daughter had crispy beef tacos a la crate. All of our food was good but not great. Overall, we were not wowed by anything but the food was solid as was the service.

This was my first time to visit La Familia, and I was very disappointed. For starters let me say that they are too expensive for what they offer ontheir menu. I eat out most of the time and have been to several Mexicanrestaurants in this area. They serve cheaply made food and they do skim on the portions they give you. I certainly would NOT recommend this place, and if you do, you will be just as disappointed at I was.
