Beyond confused how this restaurant is rated. Dinner with my husband, daughter and myself. We live. Early and have gone once. Waitstaff was friendly and I would never visit again based on anything served during our visit. Naturally I wouldn't post a strong review base on one visit but looking out for others... you will find better Mexican food at nearly every establishment within a 5 mile radius.

We are newish to the area and have tried La Cocina before and hadn't been back until last week. We have been missing out on a great spot! The La India was super good(basically a decomposed taco salad with flour shell flattened). We love the refried beans! The chicken enchiladas and cheese enchiladas are tasty as well. If you haven't been lately, give it a whirl.

My family stopped here before driving through the Pecan Grove Lights. We chose it because it had high Yelp reviews and an outdoor patio. The outdoor patio space was large and great if you have kids. The food portions were large.Unfortunately, the food left me underwhelmed. Although the portions were large, the food was flavorless. Even the tortilla chips were bland and under salted. All the food was slopped on the plate and presentation was less than appetizing.

I am giving this two stars because the food is decent, the problem has been that Andres and company nickel and dime every single thing on the menu. After going ritualistically every Monday for over a year, we will be going elsewhere after our lunch today. $1.87 tacos are a great sell. My wife and I ordered 5 total, $9.35. Two lunch drinks, $3.98. A regular queso is $9.99. After taxes this is a little over $25.00. Our lunch ticket ended up being over $56 today because we asked for shredded cheese on the tacos, $6.25 total ($1.25 a taco when a side of cheese by itself is $3.99). $6.50 for two sides of beans. $5.00 for two sides of rice. Followed by $3.25 for a thing of sour cream. $23 dollars worth of condiments/sides on what was a $25 lunch. The sides we ordered cannot be the same price as fajita tacos, special or not. Second, I went in a few weeks back and ordered the $6.99 Thursday special, two enchilada plate with rice and beans. My daughter ordered a kids enchilada plate (one enchilada). Her plate was $8.50. Do the math for me on that. How is my two enchilada plate on the special cheaper than her one enchilada plate? And how do you not have a price adjustment for Thursdays for this reason? We can't in good faith and conscience spend our money here any further, and if you want your money to stretch, don't go here. If you do go here, don't get a single thing extra.

My favorite part about La Cocina is how involved the owner is. Not just in his business, but the community as well. It's a smaller restaurant, but that doesn't stop how warm and inviting it is. Plus, the food is always great!
