La Cabana Mexican Restaurant

came here yesterday with a group of 11 for brunch/(breakfast :p) and this place was great! I've been here before once a couple years ago when it was named something La Cabana and I don't remember much about that experience. However now known as El Jimador the staff here is amazinggggg!!!! Especially the lady who I think is the owner or manager. She stopped by consistently to check and refill all of our drinks, joked around and overall had so much fun with us. Our waiter also was attentive and great. I just loved the way the employees made you feel like family and cared for. On to the food, I wasn't hungry so I didn't order anything but I tried a bit from everyone else's plates and it was all delicious! my husband had the potato and eggs and they were great with the fresh tortillas. the barbacoa tacos were also delicious my brother in law ALWAYS wants to eat here and now I know why LOL, can't wait to come back again!

I'm giving this place 2 stars for their service. The food was so bland. I ordered the Superior Dinner. It came with queso, beef taco, tamale, cheese enchilada, beef enchilada and rice & beans. Good portion but nothing that I wanted to finish.

I met up with a friend who suggested we have a late lunch. We arrived within their 11 AM - 3 PM lunch schedule, which the menu has 3 entrees to select from for Monday - Friday. I ordered the Al Carbon with re fried beans, and rice(3 fajita beef tacos). The portions were small, tacos included. The food was okay. I probably would not return for food or customer service. But I will return for the margaritas! Just one had me mellowed. Heck, I turned down an offer for another round. Catch me on the weekend. If you have a large group this place will easily accommodate your group. It's very spacious and the patio scene is great. Cheers to their margaritas.

If a place has good food and quality service, you bet your bippy everybody's gonna know. The opposite is true here. Food was terrible.. with an emphasis on "terrible". Service wasn't too bad. Bar tender was decent. There was this light panel under the bar that nearly made me have seize while sipping a Margarita.. so painful. why did I stop here. I had the nachos. everything on the plate, save the guac, sour cream and chips tasted as though they'd been dumped fresh out of a can. The Margarita tasted of sickly sweet, low grade industrial margarita mix. There was not a hint of class or mixpertise in this drink. Sorry El Jimador.. I wanted you to have it going on but you didn't and I don't think I can visit again. I hope whatever internal issues your are having get sorted out in the not too distant future. The second Star was solely on account of the bartender who deem to dohis best despite the tools he'd been given. Good job Sir and thanks for the warmth you gave with your service.. aside from you it was pretty damned frigid up in there. Keep Driving

I would give an extra star but they cut their portions in half from what they used to give. You used to get 9 chicken quesadillas and now you get 5. The flautas used to take up the entire plate and now they are about half the size they used to be. On the flip side, if you are very strict about your coke/Diet coke then here is your place. I guess they put in more carbonation than most places because their Cokes are great. They also have my favorite salsa out of any Mexican food restaurant I have been to. It's hot but not too hot and not spicy either. If you like spicy salsa then you may not like it. Their green sauce is good too but you have to ask for it.

The service was good. Very friendly and welcoming staff.The food was not of my liking.I ordered the tampiquena, the steak was dry, tuff and chewy. The beans and rice had an off taste.The Michelada was just a beer and some sort of spicy sauce, no Clamato.

I went here today with my wife for drinks while we waited for an event to end. All we ordered was two margaritas, and boy, was this a bad idea--$ 35. I asked for a specific tequila, and the waitress was hesitant. When she gave me the shot, I smelled and tasted it; it was water down and not what I requested. It was a cheaper tequila. I didn't say anything; we paid and left. They were friendly, but this place is shady, and I will never return.

had stopped coming but decided to retry, the food was great and Sonya, the manger and maria were super attentive. felt like being with family. Will definitely be coming back.

I'm impressed with the service, Santos was really good with us, he got our food fast and he was very nice and attentive. Overall it's a good family place to come and eat. I'll recommend to ask for Santos or Jonny's if you want to have a nice experience.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in Houston.. The green sauce and red sauce are amazing and the chips are cooked in peanut oil which will make you crave them and the service is always great! Try the Texas Combo!!!
