The worst arepa we ever had. Both my sister and took 1 bite and threw both away. Disgusting!!! Go to Arepa Culture or Guadalcanal for delicious Arepas.

I like to support local food spots, but this truck was a total disappointment. Perhaps I've gotten spoiled by Arepa Culture.Their prices are pretty high for what you get. Two classic arepas were $13 and two signature were $15. This is more expensive than Guasaca and Arepa Culture, and La Arepa's aren't as large. Overall, the flavor was really lacking and the arepas themselves were hard (It reminded me of an English muffin). I've saved the best for last! I was halfway through eating my second arepa when I looked down to find a DARK HAIR! Both my friend and I were done eating at that point, disgusted. Another review mentioned finding an object in her food, so this seems to be an issue. I won't be ordering here again.

Amazing arepas , some people have said it's a little high in price but you definitely get your money's worth . Majority of the arepa is filled with your choice of protein, also the employees are super nice , awesome looking truck as well

I checked out L'Arepa on ,my lunch break when they had a stand open for the Raleigh Bluegrass Festival. Now my bar for Arepas is pretty high. This is because I have visited Guasaca in Raleigh/Durham a few times and indulged in their stupendous arepa creations. I ordered one chicken and one beef arepa. They were both $8 a piece (quite pricey for what you get).Eating an arepa at Guasaca must be like listening to music for the first time and that music is the Beatles or Mozart, then comparing the rest of the music you hear to what you heard the first time. In other words...after consuming Guasaca arepas the offerings at L'Arepa simply didn't measure up. I thought they were bland and really nothing else other than meat and cheese inside a pocket. I know the Gluten Free option will appeal to some, but for me, the arepas here were a let down.

I have had their food before at festivals downtown and thought it was good, until this past weekend at Artsplosure. I got a chicken arepa to eat later on, got it wrapped in foil. When i went to eat it, first thing i noticed was a rolled up sticker, i guess from packaging, in the chicken. I got that out and threw it away, understanding things happen. I got to eating it, and as i was taking a bite, i realized the chicken had a weird texture. I looked at it, and the piece i took a bite out of had something strange in it. It was perfectly round and about ¾ inch long. It was the color of the chicken, cream colored, but had a weird consistency, came right out of the piece of chicken and left the round indention in the piece of chicken, as if it was molded around the "object." Upon further examination, it had faint horizontal stripes along it. It was either one of two things, a piece of a chicken toe from the chicken being processed, or a wax worm. It made me absolutely sick. I will not ever get their food after this experience. I'm still trying not to throw up.

Food truck that only goes to events and does catering. Totally gluten free which was great. There was ample meat which had pretty good seasoning but could have used more flavor. It was topped with unmelted cheese and a bit watery which made the whole thing a bit of a mess to eat. It was $9 for one- I would have rather had that meat drained and split into two with the cheese melted on it.

We ordered 6 beef and 6 bean for a take home dinner for my family of 5. We popped them in the oven to fluff before stuffing, to keep them as fresh as possible. Short of having the cook actually at our house it was perfect! Everyone enjoyed...including my very picky 2 year old. We will be doing this often to give me a night off from cooking dinner and to bring something fun and different into our dinner routine. Love love love

Was pretty good, the plantains were the best part! Service was really fast, but if you don't eat it fast it gets a bit cold and soggy. Lovely though :)

I love supporting local but I was not a fan of la arepa at all. The arepa breading fell apart, but I shared and tried 4 different arepas on the table. The chicken seemed the precooked Tyson grilled chicken strips, and the "angus beef" I thought would be a steak, but kinda tastes like the Wendy's chili. The empanadas fill was mushy and strange. Overall was very over priced. My photo of the 2 arepas and 1 small empanada was over $20. No drink. We also got the classic Carolina bbq (which was pulled pork and cole slaw) it was very fake tasting, like pre made grocery store pulled pork.
