My little family and I came here for lunch after our morning excursion. We were greeted by very friendly staff and was able to sit down right away. The restaurant looks a lot bigger inside then from the outside. My daughter got kids coloring book and crayons while we were looking at the menu to order. I got the truffle me sideways burger that came with mushrooms and the poutine while my husband got the ahkkkyy burger with kook tots. Both came out fairly quickly. Both burgers were okay. We felt that the burgers were a bit bland and relied on the topping of the burger for flavor. They do not come with fries which is why we ordered it separately. Honestly the best thing I had was my poutine fries. I also was a pretty pricey burger for what you get but we enjoyed the surfer theme decor and the service.

I honestly don't know how this place has a high rating. This is probably one of the worst food place I've been to in Philly, being very careful when I give a business a bad review, I will remain honest. The service was very low grade, from the host to the waiters and service people, it felt it was everybody's first day in this industry. The atmosphere is probably the only OK element in this place. To the burgers - I believe I have NEVER spent so much money for such a crappy burger, the burger I ordered was pretty standard, it was $16 and if you want some pre-frozen cold French fries, dig deeper into your wallet, your total will be $24It will be $24 for a meal around the same quality of McDonald and I may say even lower. On the first bite, the only thing I tasted was salt, the burger was SO super salty, hours later I kept drinking more and more water because my mouth was dry. I've paid $24 for a burger with fries before but it was not this crappy level smash burger, it was always premium meat, half pound, cooked to your liking with some hand cut fries.I ordered Mac & cheese for my baby (they didn't have a side dish of Mac & cheese so I had to order a $15 dollar store Mac and cheese - really, the lowest quality you can think of.It came with a cup of mile and tater totsI will Never, ever go to this place any more, I will choose Burger King over this place every single time.

A friend and I visited Kook after seeing it on social media several times. We stopped in on a late Sunday evening for dinner. Both the upper and lower floors had ample seating, as it was a pretty slow night. The upper floor has a fun setup with a sandbox, ping pong table, and pool table in the center of many booths situated against the wall. The hostess was happy to fulfill our request to sit upstairs. A server kindly acknowledged us shortly after being sat. We took a few minutes to decide on our own burgers as well as some items to share. All of the burger toppings can be customized, so we asked to switch out the included cheeses. We were surprised by the lack of cheese varieties for a burger spot; they don't offer Swiss, pepper jack, or provolone. We opted in for cheddar to keep things simple. Our shared items came out first. Neither of us was impressed by the Lemon Pepper Boss wings. They were quite dry from being overcooked, and the seasoning was very bland. We also shared the Kooky Tots, which were a bit soggy, and had very skimpy portions of the toppings. The burgers came out soon after. My friend's burger was made completely wrong, missing all the toppings that were requested. It also came out with bacon, which neither of us can eat; bacon was also not a listed inclusion in the Truffle Me Sideways burger that was ordered. The server was very apologetic for the kitchen's error. My Kalifornia Klassic burger came out as I had ordered it. The recook of then Truffle Me Sideway took more than 25 minutes, which is ridiculous for how slow the restaurant was that night. After waiting incredibly long, the recook was still missing the toppings that were added to the order for it. We didn't bother getting a second recook after waiting as long as we did for the first one. The server felt very bad for the issues; she the recooked burger off our check and informed us that a manager would speak to us. A manager never came over, but our server gave us a $20 gift credit. We really appreciated this, since none of the order errors were under her control. Overall, Kook was a major letdown. The food quality is extremely subpar, and the management doesn't seem to care about customer service/hospitality at all. I won't be coming back to this spot again.

Came here on a Friday evening and it was empty. We still had poor service, without refills, food was served barely warm, and the air conditioner was off leading to the sweats. The portions, particularly for $10 sweet potato fries, were offensive. Burger was tasty but won't be back.

So this place was a bit of a let down for me. The décor was nice and the service was fast and friendly. But they were out of several appetizers and sides. No Mac and cheese bites, no tater tots, no onion rings etc. I went on a Sunday afternoon and we had reservations. The price point for the sides was also excessive for the size. I ended up getting truffle fries and it was $12 for the fries pictured. I could see if it was a basket or something but it was a very small serving for that price point. The burger was good and the price was reasonable at $15I don't think I'll be back.

Stopped by Kook Burger and Bar to see if their burgers were on par with the best burgers Philly has to offer. I took a seat at the bar right across from an old Mike Schmidt comic book hanging on the wall. I started out with a very refreshing alcoholic iced tea that I don't remember the name of. It was good enough for me to order a second one. For my meal, I ordered the kook burger with truffle fries. The kook burger is a double smash patty with cheese. I'm generally not a fan of smash patties because they are generally overcooked and dry. But these patties were still juicy and the sauce made the burger even better. The truffle fries only had slight trifle flavor but were perfectly cooked and crispy. As far as smash burgers go, the kook burger is definitely one of the best. But not quite on the level of a few of the thicker juicier burgers in the city. I enjoyed my time at the bar and do plan to return.

Keith was our server and he was excellent. I suffer with severe allergies and he made sure my food was made correctly. For that alone, Kook Burger deserves 5

'It's a Philly Thing' is the sign that sums up the eclectic atmosphere. John, my server, was committed to making sure I enjoyed my lunch by answering all manner of questions, and offering to make any sandwich I liked on a lettuce wrap, when I mentioned I don't eat bread.Did I mention how unique is the menu? You can get perfectly cooked fries (crunchy exterior, soft, steamy inside) with a variety of dipping sauces. When this menu says 'hand cut', they mean it.These folks care about quality! If you usually don't usually like brussel sprouts, THIS is the time to try again! Omg, dark crispy bits, smokey bacon and just a hint of sweet maple.Salad ingredients are well balanced, and those sauces and dressings appear to be all made in house.(?)I can't wait to come back and try those burgers that everyone was raving about.
