One of my go-to options when I'm at HUP, CHOP or Abramson. It's a million times better than hospital food and it's inside of Abramson, so location can't be beat and it's better than the old Potbelly's across the street (RIP), but that's about it. With the new(ish) cafeteria 1 floor up and the HUP cafeteria, it's hard to say this place is worth it, but in a pinch, it works.Pros:The sandwiches and salads are solid and fairly filling. Similar to other Gia Pronto locations. They're hearty and sustainable and I've found that they have a wide enough selection depending on how you feel and the reason for your visit.Food is served hot and made-to-order (sort of - paninis are premade but grilled-to-order). Seating is spacious and plentiful most of the time but I wish they had more regular tables and less bench seating and other sort of "gathering" space. The menu is probably the most expansive of all hospital-based options except maybe the HUP Cafeteria. Cons:Prices are a little high for lunch, but a captive audience helps. If you're going for something cheaper, the plentiful food trucks less than a block (or 2) away are a good alternative. After a rush, this place can use a good cleaning. It's not dirty, but it ends up being a little messy. Other notes: Service is fine and standard for this type of establishment. Conclusion: It works for why you're there. The many stations are a little annoying at first, but for a quick bite or salad it does the trick at an okay price.

The worst. This place is ran so horribly and inefficiently. There are so many signs and rules to ordering and the new kiosks that they added are the worst and so inefficient. The workers are not friendly, not clean and chastise you if you do not follow all the rules of ordering, paying and picking up food. Prices do not match quality. Counter provides utensils with your order so be prepared to get only a spoon for your salad, ugh. Better off going to Jimmy John's, Starbucks or even the hospital cafeteria, ha.

I've been here a few times to grab a quick lunch and have always been pleased with the food. The first time I went, I got the Applegate farm turkey sandwich (being that it was and still is the only whole wheat bread option). I enjoyed it so much that it's been my sandwich of choice ever since. I ask for my sandwich to be toasted, which they do so well. They load the sandwich with turkey, and I love the apricot honey mustard they spread on.During my most recent stop to meet a friend for lunch, I got a small cup of the red pepper and Gouda cheese soup in addition to my sandwich. It was truly fantastic. Rich and creamy, and so flavorful. I honestly regretted not having gotten a larger size! My only complaints about this place are the disorganization and prices. Since it is located inside of the Perelman Center of the Hospital of Penn, it is always packed with visitors, as well as Penn staff. They have five different locations to order coffee, salads, soups, pizza, and sandwiches, and a couple locations to pay. I feel like I spend an unnecessary amount of time walking around trying to figure out where to place my order and pay. It's disappointing to see how poorly organized it is!Although the food is great, prices seem a little steep for what you're really getting. During my most recent visit when I got a small soup and sandwich, no drink, my bill came out to roughly $18. Definitely a bit much for a sandwich shop that has a Panera kind of set up and you're not getting table service (which, by the way, consider yourself lucky if you can snag yourself a table since they are always so swamped). I will probably be going here again if those I am meeting choose this as our lunch spot, but I'd have to think twice before choosing it myself.

Love the pizza and hot sandwiches station ! Always nice selection of beverages . My favorite is Buffalo chicken panini and caprese sandwich . Pizzas are all amazing too ! The salads are extremely overpriced and not " all that"

I've stopped in to Kitchen Gia a few times - inbetween appointments at HUP or CHOP. Sometimes just for a coffee and snack, and most recently, for lunch. The salads, soups, and pizza all look great - but the sandwich counter seemed like the most straight-forward and easy-to-navigate. I ordered the Panino Prosciutto, which hit all of my favorite prosciutto notes: salty, umami, and meaty. I loved the focaccia and the additional notes of basil and rosemary in the sandwich. It's a popular spot, so even on a rainy weekday, the place is packed with physicians, nurses, hospital staff, and visitors alike.

This is one of the most convenient places to eat if you don't want cafeteria food and work or have an appointment at an adjacent location (Perelman Center for Advanced medicine, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Roberts Proton Therapy Center, etc.). It's actually connected to the ground floor of the Perelman Center. Gia pronto serves bagels, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, and coffee in the morning. At lunch, there is a salad line (you check off salad ingredients listed on a piece of paper, write your name on it, and pay). Your salad is made to order and is large and full of fresh ingredients, but it can get pricey ($14-15). Pizza, sandwiches, and heathy snacking options are also available. Many items are organic, locally-sourced, etc. It gets ridiculously crowded at lunch. $4 got me a large coffee and a multigrain bagel with plenty of cream cheese this morning. The multigrain bagel was so fresh and wasn't just white bread dyed brown with a few oats on top (one of my pet peeves and also false advertising!)- there were whole grains throughout. There are many types of sweeteners available as well as a temperature-controlled dispenser for milk (skim, whole, 2%) and half-and-half.

Justin and Jason were incredible. They both stepped up for a catering event that fluctuated on times and worked with us as those times changed. We went from 6:30am, to 6am, to 7am and each time, they made sure to have us covered for food and pick up. I can't recommend Kitchen Gia enough. If the customer service wasn't great enough, the food made everything spectacular. The listened to our needs (vegetarian, meat-eaters, gluten free, etc) and made sure that we had something for everyone. It was delicious, nutritious and an overall great experience.Thank you KG!!

I ordered Italian wedding soup Unfortunately it was nothing more than cup of broth for $6 bucks plus tip. Very disappointed.

I went to Kitchen Gia on Monday. I ordered Minnestrone soup and a slice of mushroom pizza, a soda and I wanted to order a bag of chips. I had a couple issues with the ordering kiosk. I had to do it three times before the order went through. The food of course was excellent as usual. Kitchen Gia is one of my favorite places to eat. I look forward to eating there every time I go to Perelman Center.

After looking at reviews, I had higher expectations and unfortunately was disappointed. I don't mind paying a higher price for food if it's good, but the cheese wasn't even melted (it was cold) on my toasted panini. The chicken was on the dryer side and there were maybe two leaves of spinach. I will say the bread was tasty though and that's why they got two stars. Overall, the flavor was not there and for what you pay, I expect better.
