Kings Bbq

Mold in the cake. I didn't dig in. My mom did. I gave up on this place when their BBQ was subpar. Better off driving to Rudy's where they don't disappoint. Won't be back.

Discovered this little gem on the opposite side of town from me where I used to live in Houston. Kings BBQ doesn't look like much on the outside. It's a mom and pops style restaurant with a southern home feel. Their menu and specials are at the front counter with plenty to choose from. I went with the 2-meat route with 2 sides and a roll. I asked for the brisket and the pork ribs with a side of loaded potatoes and fried okra. I also ordered 3 boudin balls. The brisket was moist. The pork ribs were very tender and fell off the bone nicely. The loaded potatoes were on point and cheese. The favorite of the night for me was the fried okra. Not sure if it was because I hadn't had it in so long, or it was just that good. You get good big portions too. The staff behind the counter will also ask if you want BBQ sauce on the side or on top of your meat. Not sure if they only had one option for BBQ sauce, but I didn't ask since it was my first time and just getting the feel for this place. Sweet or unsweet teas, lemonades, and fountain sodas are to the left of you once you pay at the end of the counter. The staff is super nice and friendly and will come take your trays of food after you're gone. The decor inside is definitely a small-town southern feel with the red checkered tablecloths. There are a few TVs so you can catch current games or news. The restrooms may need a little work, but it still functions. Overall, Kings is a good place for a quick lunch, pick up dinner for your family, or a simple gathering. Support your locals and leave with a happy tummy!

My 92-year-old father hadn't had BBQ in a long while so I stopped at King's BBQ and picked up two chopped brisket sandwiches for him and Lisa and for myself I saw you could get it as a quesadilla for $0.60 more. I also picked up some potato salad and a banana cream pie serving for him.The brisket was a bit dry but good flavor, it needed the BBQ sauce they gave separately. The quesadilla with the meat added was the better deal with a huge amount and a pile of lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream to put on it, but really the BBQ sauce was the best adornment. The potato salad is very good, just like my Mom and relatives used to make but blended more smooth. Very good flavors, pretty fast ordering, like everywhere else prices have gone up.

Server are very nice and polite.Ribs were a 4Brisket a 3. Did not fall apart at all. A bit tough. It's hit or miss!

Two weeks ago my son and I ordered food from Pappa's BBQ and I all I can say is we came away highly disappointed... tonight we picked up our meal at Kings BBQ and honestly we will not go to any other BBQ place. Meat is delicious and the BBQ sauce is awesome. My kids and I are very happy!!

We got bbq baked potatoes here for our work crew. Here's our take:Way smaller potatoes than what they were last time I was there.Imitation bacon bits, no excuse.Very small amount of meat, very blandHardly any chives, like only saw a couple Asked for sauce on the side, seems simple but nope, sauce was on top.Asked for sour cream on the side, got 2 tiny spoonfuls for 6 mens lunch to share.Long story short, nobody here at work ever wants to spend their money there again. I tried to give kings a chance and they blew it.

Extremely disappointed. We ordered two potatoes this evening and specified side items that were completely forgotten. Stuffed jalapeños were burnt to the point of just tossing them. Was looking forward to dinner for hours to be bummed.

The first time I went to Kings I was very excited because friends had recommended this restaurant. The day I had lunch at Kings, I had brisket, and it was so tough and dry that even the barbecue sauce didn't help much. Also the woman behind the counter was extremely abrupt and abrasive, and not very friendly. I thought wow maybe it's just not a good day, maybe it's because they have a new cook not sure. So a few weeks later I return to Kings Bbq, hoping for the best. But again I was very disappointed this time the brisket was even drier, the sauce did not help. I tried the ribs and they weren't good either and the woman behind the counter was again very abrupt and not very customer service oriented. I think I'll go to Tony's bbq instead.

Sad thing is foods actually pretty good but the service is not good, I called them finding out they messed up my order while I was at work I was overcharged for the wrong item and for something that was free on the line their response to my issue has lost them my business permanently.
