King Chef

This is a legit Chinese food spot. It was exactly what I was looking for! There's no unnecessary fancy shenanigans on their menu or in their restaurant. They have the expected quality at a good price point. Several other shops in the area fail miserably to hit the mark. King Chef is "Number 1"* in my book.* My favorite spot back home growing up was called "Number 1 Chinese Food". So that means something special coming from me.

9/19/21: We simply came to get a drink because we got food from the Jamaican restaurant next door. I always like lemonade from the Chinese spots near my home, so I thought I couldn't go wrong here. The service was horrible...they weren't friendly at all. We didn't let that bother us because we just wanted a drink. We got 2 lemonades & took them home only to be surprised that it was YELLOW WATER!! No lemon taste. No sugar. I couldn't turn that into lemonade at home if I wanted to. What in the world did they do??? Well, needless to say we had to pour that mess in the sink and drink actual water. What a waste of money. Never again.

Their General Tso's Chicken is so good and tender! I have tried other Chinese take-outs but King Chef's GEneral Tso's chicken is tops in Raleigh. Their chicken (beef, too) and mixed vegetables are filling snd satisfying.

Best Chinese food in the area! When I go it's to go orders not a place to really sit. Lunch specials a good price!

Ordered the beef and broccoli meal. Over all the food wasn't terrible but the fried rice that I paid a dollar extra to add shrimp was not what I consider as Chinese rice. It was yellow rice shrimp ($1) with just a few pieces of onion and carrots in it. The rice for me is what makes the dish. Now I was there when someone brought the rice over to a lady in the kitchen who had on a mask but her nose was completely uncovered. The entire container of rice looked yellow. I'm guessing that I'm use to Chinese fried rice being made with bean sprouts, onions, carrots, green onions, eggs or something other than plain rice and definitely not just YELLOW RICE.

Your average Chinese takeout. Their dinner combo meals were $7.45 which includes pork fried rice and an egg roll. We got a hunan chicken combo and a kung pao chicken combo. Wasn't terrible but wasn't magnificent either so thus the middle ground is mediocre. Good for a one and done if you don't live around the area.

I haven't eaten here in years due to moving out of the area and I still think about it. They would get their ingredients from NY direct from Hong Kong. Not sure how they are now but, I miss them.

Love the food here. It's a typical Chinese takeout restaurant as far as the menu, but the food is very good. The portions are huge. I'm usually about to stretch a dinner combination (which I pay around $8 for) over about 2.5/3 meals. Definitely get my money's worth. I live about a minute from the location so I'll call it in then get into my car and drive over and usually my food is almost ready or ready to go!

Normal Chinese food for the area. Not really a dine in place but okay for the price. I like the Teriyaki chicken.

I ordered the Sesame Chicken and Lo Mein combo. The egg rolls are good but the entree was disgusting. I doubt the Sesame Chicken is real chicken, it has a spongy consistency. The Lo Mein noodles taste watery and overcooked. When I called to ask about possible options, the person on the phone fussed at me and told me I shouldn't have waited 2 hrs to call about my food. They further told me that I should've ate the food instantly (which I did). However, it is weird that they are telling me when I should eat my food. I will never eat here again because of the terrible customer service.
