Kelley's Country Cooking

We have always enjoyed eating at this location. I know things for many companies made changes due to CoVid and all that it implies. Some changes for the better and some not. Service is good and helpful if you get one of the older employees can't say the same about the younger ones. I know cell phones are a distraction at all businesses but I'm saddened by how much it affects their productivity and customer service. The feel is still country style home cooking but don't expect the oversized portions anymore, not that it is a bad thing. Don't expect the large chicken tenders of pre-shut down era. They are now flattened versions of the original. See pictures. Food is still good and a good value but change is not always a good thing.

We came during lunch and the food was amazing and very fast service. They also had very large portions but it was great to take home. I am not a catfish eater, but this catfish was probably the best I've ever tasted and would even order it for myself to eat!!! The restaurant was nice and had a home feel to it. Can't wait to go back. The prices aren't bad either

My husband's favorite. The biscuits are huge! It's really the only place he likes to go for breakfast. We live in Spring, but sometimes I'll fly out of Hobby and he's always happy because he knows I'll eat with him here for dropping me off or picking me up. I usually get an omelet, I'm not super impressed, but it makes him happy. We went for lunch last week when he picked me up and I had the shrimp salad, and it was really good. Their chicken fried steak is in his top five, and he eats a lot of chicken fried steaks. The service and the atmosphere are pretty nondescript, but it's inexpensive diner food. You are there for the food, and it's good.

I am just one of the MANY that is glad this location has finally reopened. And they seem to have reopens with a bang!The decor is stunningly cabin-like. Huge booths with wall to wall wooden fixtures. The staff also seemed eager to welcome guests back.Their menu is just as plentiful as before. Lots of homestyle items to choose from. Our meals were brought out in a timely manner. Both egg styles were delicious and perfectly cooked. The bacon was thick and savory. Their hash browns were crispy and flavorful. Will definitely return multiple times!

Their sign, "try our Fried Green Tomatoes", attracted me; had not been there since being rebuilt after their fire....$9 for this appetizer and got 9 very thin slices of tomatoes about the size of a Ruffles potatoes chip including the batter. I have never seen Fried Green Tomatoes as thin before....maybe the entire order contained about 1/2 of a small green tomato. :(Second, I ordered the daily special of Turkey & Dressing. The dressing just tasted like crumble cornbread without anything else in it and was about 75% of the "entree". The gravy was tasteless as well (maybe 5% of entree). The remaining 20% of the entree were cut up, small pieces of turkey (maybe 2 ounces). I was so disappointed; it will be a long time before I go back. Their buttered carrots, green beans, and ranch dressing were very good. One more good thing was that it was not too salty, as it usually is.

"Biscuits on steroids" is how my friend described breakfast. Also grits and chicken fried steak on steroids. Portions are big, staff is friendly, seating capacity is plentiful. Definitely a kountry cookin' kinda place. No complaints.

This is the nicest location I have seen so far, tho I still prefer the original location. Portions are still large compared to most. Service was good, tho a Military Discount would be great for those that Served.

Everything is good and service is always good. Among my favorites are the grilled chicken club sandwich and the regular Club Sandwich made with thick slices of ham and turkey. The coleslaw made fresh daily is very good. We also love the omelettes and hash browns. I usually get some of the excellent vegetable beef soup with my sandwich.

Kelley's Country Cooking is a staple in these parts. It's such a staple that when they had to rebuild the League City location due to a fire, people were anxiously waiting for their re-opening. There's friendly staff the moment you walk in. The lines can be long during lunch time especially with the after-church crowd on Sundays so be prepared to wait if you're going on a Sunday. Now, people might say that the food is mediocre here but I like to think otherwise. For the price you pay, you definitely get a Texas sized serving. The last time I was here, my first time in a long time, I ordered the Grand Slam Breakfast for $15.99. That alone was enough to feed 3 people! The biscuit is massive and is good with the white gravy. The massive chicken fried steak was thin, covered in thick batter and fried well - I think it's good with the brown gravy. I also got three eggs which I got over easy, and a good amount of hash browns. Of course I asked for a to-go container to save the leftovers for dinner! This place is definitely worth checking out. The big portions for the reasonable price is unbeatable. It's also where a lot of locals eat! If you have a big appetite and a tight budget, go check this place out!

This is my 2nd visit to this location. Everything from service to food was AMAZING! The staff always attentive, friendly, and kind. Honestly, to EVERYONE. The food portions alone are a reason to visit. This gem will definitely be kept on our rotation.
