15 years later KC's remains one of the best if not the best bakeries in Chinatown. My favorite still remains the pineapple coconut buns(which gets my vote for best sweet bun in Chinatown) followed by taro and custard cream buns. Sadly, they don't make the sweet potato tart anymore. Also the sesame rice balls don't have as much red bean filling as they used to. They do now sell a red bean filled mochi square which is very nice. As you can see, they did away with self service. Average cost per item is $1.75 -$2

A decent bakery that accepts cash and card (3.99% processing fee) so I recommend to bring cash. I came on a Sunday afternoon and there wasn't much left (at least the ones I wanted like bbq pork, pork floss, pineapple, etc) so I got a red bean bun, cream bun, and hot dog bun. The bread of the hot dog bun was good, not overly sweet but the hot dog itself wasn't great. The red bean bun was good. Cream bun was decent but I personally don't usually get it.I don't like the system, as everything is behind a table and the worker takes out the baked goods for you. You can't see everything as they're all in the rack so the worker has to pull out the trays for you to their current selection. There are also no listed prices.

There are several bakeries on this street, KC being one of them. Their standout buns are their Pineapple/Coconut bun and Custard bun. Both are freshly baked and taste awesome. Owner is friendly, and can communicate in English and Mandarin. If you call ahead, they can take orders as they tend to be busy around mid day. They can do custom bakery if you call ahead of time. Besides cash, I think they also accept Venmo or Zelle as form of payment.

Lady that runs the bakery is great. Nice to talk and explain what baked goods they are selling behind the counter inside. The sweet buns are very fluffy and have a great flavor. All the filling is tasty and you get a good amount, for red bean, custard, pineapple, etc. the best part is how reasonable the prices are. Lots of things for $2 or less for quality pastries. Delicious spot, love stopping in for a few treats. Thanks

The bakery I used to go to went out of business so tried this one cause it's got a good rating on Yelp.Coconut bun - ok, more salty than expected. Not 'HK' style enough for me, can't quite put my finger on it.Raisin bread - pretty close to what I was expecting. The raisins have a slightly more anise taste than I was expecting but it is not bad.Generally its OK but it didn't hit the spot for me.

LIFE CHANGING PINEAPPLE BUNS!!! I owe it to KC's Pastries for being the first place where I tried pineapple red bean buns!!! They are SO GOOD here!!! Something about these buns hits different... They are also really cheap!!! (~$1-2/bread)This is my go-to spot in Philly to get fresh bread. I specifically come here to get the pineapple red bean buns. If you go too early, then they might not have them ready yet (speaking from experience, haha) and if you go too late, then they might sell out! Their coconut buns are also reallyyyy tasty! The bread taste best warm and fresh.Note: You get a discount if you pay in cash :)

I love the red bean buns here. Cash only. Prices are very reasonable (around $2 per pastry?). I want to to try moon cakes.
