Kavarna

Kavarna is on the opposite side of Decatur from me but I regularly go anyways. Why? Well, when it's between Kavarna and Dancing Goats, I choose Kavarna. The 3/5 stars is for a few reasons. One, the barista who served me had 0 concept of customer service. Indeed, all the customers seemed more excited to be in the shop than she did, and at points it felt like her impassivity kind of infected the place. She also served our coffees in to-go cups despite us sitting in (and mugs being available) and didn't tell me that my latte was done until I went up and asked after a 10 minute wait. Aside from that (and this is a stickler point-- I know) it seemed like the owner/interior decorator of the place saw a blank canvas, splattered a few poorly done ideas on it, and called it a day. Kavarna has such great potential with so much room for excitement and dynamism, and it felt wasted on a shoddily done "bohemian" feel mixed with middle school cafeteria style tables. The latte, however, was good. I also enjoyed the fact they had internet access and clean bathrooms. For Decatur coffee shops its pretty decent.

I literally come here almost every day and it was the place I most missed during COVID. In addition to them having the best coffee, there's just such a sense of community. Cool design, cool unobtrusive music, great staff, cool design, delicious coffee. What more could you ask?!

Kavarna holds a special place in my heart because it's one of just two coffee shops in Decatur (R.I.P. Java Monkey & the Downtown Starbucks), but I think it's safe to say it's been resting on its laurels for awhile now.The two staff I interacted with are nice enough, but would certainly not be considered "baristas." They were pretty curt, forgot to put a lid on my black coffee, and made my brother's latte far too foamy. Kavarna's interior is also in desperate need of a makeover. The pastel cafeteria-esq seats don't mesh with the exposed brick walls, there are metal restaurant carts strewn throughout the floor for no good reason, and the place has a pretty dirty vibe to it. This is sad since Kavarna has potential to be the more indie, rustic, Oakhurst-based foil to Dancing Goats, which is a lot more sterile and contemporary.I'll be back to Kavarna, but only because a better coffee shop simply doesn't exist on this side of Decatur.

Cool little coffee shop located in the Village of Oakhurst. A great place to meet friends for coffee or tea.

First time. Like the other reviews wifi goes in and out. On the plus side they have lots of outlets setup. Thank goodness doe that. Everything else in here seems to be half working. Mixed bag for me. Thankful for the outside seating.

This place is one of my go to coffee shops for doing work. The coffee is great and its not too crowded so you can always find a nice table and not feel like you're right on top of anyone else. The staff are friendly and its a cozy place to spend the day. The only negative is that they only have a few options for food, like bagels, a few pastries, and a few grab and go refrigerated options, so I wouldn't plan to have a hot lunch here.

Coffee is nice, it's on the quiet side and wifi is good, which makes for a good working environment. Tried the banana bread but personally didn't think it was that great. Also, the bathroom is kind of gross - there's some green stuff (possibly mold?) in the soap holder.

Great! It's in Oakhurst area of Decatur, so it's got that vibe. The barista was literally knitting when she wasn't serving customers. Great seating area - spacious, not cramped. Great coffee and baked goods! Give it a try!

If you want wi-fi stay away from Kavarna. They don't really care if you can access wifi or not. Only 12 people in the place and they claimed "it must be because it's busy". Find a more reputable establishment if you need internet.

Delicious Greek Food. Does a good business but never insanely busy so you shouldn't have to wait long for a table. Has a nice outdoor seating area.
