Katy's Cafe

After I spent the night in the downtown Imperial Beach, I was cruising through their Strand and was looking for a quiet place to relax, grab a coffee and do some remote online work. I found Katy's Café and was pleasantly surprised.Katy's Café is a quaint coffee shop in downtown Imperial Beach and it is almost the perfect spot to grab some breakfast, a sip of coffee and even do remote work.Katy's Café is right on Seacoast Dr, within walking distance and close proximity to the beach and many other shops in the area.The interior decor is cute and comprises of many hand-painted murals that amply represent the coastal beach vibes. They have a few pieces of decor and also paintings for sale.The seating is varied and has space for singles, couples or even bigger groups of 6.My only observation is that the seating wasn't cushioned, but the setup was still nice.Their bathroom was spacious, clean, had a changing-table and more beautiful painted mural artwork.Service was excellent and attentive.I was greeted with a smile and also observed that they were very thorough in asking customers if they served the military (to give a discount I presume). My smoothie was pretty tasty and I loved that they used real bananas.The price was reasonable for the size and I was pleased that I could enjoy sipping while plugged into their outlet in my own quiet space. Perfect for remote online work. I definitely recommend coming to Katy's Café the next time in Imperial Beach and try their delicious sandwiches too (everyone was enjoying theirs).

I've eaten here for years and service, food and drinks are very good. I usually get a Turkey egg and cheese croissant (chipotle Bueno) which I highly recommend. Also the chai latte or the banana coffee are both good choices. Inside and outside seating make this a very comfortable place to eat.

October 31, 2023 about 9:30 AM. My sister visiting from Virginia treated me and my husband to this cute little cafe in Imperial Beach. She was due to fly out later in the day. I hadn't been here in years and was pleasantly surprised at how much they've improved IB. I was impressed at the array of new storefronts. Katy's Cafe wasn't very big but was bright, clean, and colorfully whimsical in decor. The ladies behind the counter were very sweet & welcoming. We all ordered their breakfast croissants aptly named "Croissant Beginnings" along with hot coffees. My sister & hubby had sausage while I ordered bacon. They are deliciously made with cheese and egg on a toasted, buttery croissant. Coffee was very tasty.Will definitely return when we're in the area again.

This place is seriously the best and I will come every single time I am down here now. Very very very reasonably priced food, healthy options and hearty options. Coffee is amazing 10/10 they also had a bunch of fun lattes, the mermaid one looked yummy! Free cold waters, friendly staff and right next to the beach. Lots of people here and lots of room to relax and eat. Love it here!!

Great food and great local people! Super cute place near the ocean. Come grab some coffee and take a walk to the water to eat your good! Great spot, frequent it when I can!

This is my favorite coffee shop in IB! The service is good and the coffee is even better! I get a vanilla breve and occasionally a dirty chi at least 3 times a week and it's always like sipping on heaven Their food is pretty dang good as well :) they have many options to choose from!

Katy's is always a solid choice for breakfast in IB. The lattes are super tasty and I really like the Chipotle Bueno and the Zac's sandwiches. We eat our food and then stroll over to the sand and take in the ocean views. Definitely an IB staple.

$9 for a piece of toast is pretty outrageous. They were also out of cold brew and the lady said they had iced coffee so I got that which was watery. Overall just meh..

If you're staying in Imperial Beach, Katy's Cafe is just a short walks away. It looks quite small on the outside, but it can fit a good crowd. The thing that I enjoyed about this cafe is that it has its own specialty that caught my eye, the "Mermaid Special". I think this drink was pretty alright. It was subtle and nice the first few sips, but then you start to taste all the syrup and bitter coffee at the bottom which wasn't as pleasant. The Mexican Mocha was pretty good since the amount of ice was the perfect amount. I would say the wait time to get your coffee after ordering it is pretty speedy, but it can get busy quick! We did order a açaí bowl, and that came out pretty slow unfortunately. Would I go to this cafe again? I think it's a nice place to try out in the area, but I think there can be better options.
