We ordered our food for delivery. It came fast, hot, and was so tasty! The spice level was exactly what we requested and the flavor was well-developed. The Butter chicken was exactly what the kiddos wanted and all the other items were right on point. Thanks for wonderful Indian cuisine!

Most mediocre Indian food i've had in the US.We ordered the chaat - 5/10chicken 65 - 6/10vegetable samosa - 2/10 vegetable biryani - 5/10chilli chicken - 7/10 panner tikka - 8/10lamb korma - 5/10malai kofta - 5/10aloo partha - 9/10garlic naan - 6/10 mango lassi - 8/10gulab jamun - 0/10 - obviously frozenOverall as someone of south asian descent, i found the food lacked flavor and would recommend spending your money elsewhere. Was looking for the best Indian food in Philly, and this spot got me questioning my karma.

TLDR: solid go-to option for some classic Indian food.My sister has been raving about this place for a few weeks now so we finally went to check it out with her. The vibes are very simple and it was pretty quiet. I thought our waiter was very kind and attentive. For apps, we started with the reshmi kebab and tandoori veg platter. Both were delicious although the kebabs might have been slightly overcooked since they were just a lil dry. For entrees we got chicken tikka masala, goan fish curry, and malai kofta. We really enjoyed all our entrees! They have different spice levels and we got two entrees as medium and one as spicy. The spicy one definitely had a kick but in a flavorful way- not in the way that makes you cry. The garlic naan was delicious, too. The portions were pretty generous, especially considering the reasonable prices. We got the gulab jamun for dessert and it was just right- not sickeningly sweet like I've had at other places. It was surprisingly pretty empty when we went so I think this is still a bit of a hidden gem. I hope it gets more traffic soon because it definitely deserves it!

I was really excited to go to karma because I am always looking for good Indian food in Philly. I saw this place on tiktok, but I gotta say it is definitely a bit overhyped. We ordered a few dishes to share, and each dish was a fair to a bit on the pricey side. What really disappointed me were the portions. The portions were all on the smaller side and I definitely left feeling a bit hungry. The food itself was also just fine. It was classic Indian food but it definitely didn't wow me at all. On the other hand, the service and the vibes were very good. The food took a while to come out but the staff were very nice and apologized for the wait constantly. The place is also BYOB so it's great for a date night, but I would say not as good for bigger groups. Overall I had a pretty decent experience but I'm not sure I would return and I am a bit hesitant to recommend.

First time here and the food was pretty good! I used to work at an Indian restaurant so I have pretty high standards. The goat curry was my favorite along with the chicken 65 and shrimp Malabar. However, the place was not the greatest ambiance. The lighting was poor and it wasn't a purposeful darkness but more like they didn't have enough lightbulbs screwed in. In addition, the service wasn't good. There was one girl working all the tables and host and while it may just have been a short staff night, she wasn't very friendly and was annoyed the whole time. We waited a while to be seated because she was nowhere to be found and then waited a long time for the food, check, and boxes.

I came in with a friend off of his recommendation of this place. It's located along a strip of several other restaurants on Chestnut Street in Old City. We came in on a weeknight around 7:30PM. To our surprise, the restaurant was empty. This made us a little suspicious, but we were still willing to dine, especially since my friend had been here before. In terms of setup, the space was larger than we thought from outside view. It had some cute decor that kept it authentic. It was nothing super fancy, but it added a nice touch. The person that greeted us seemed like he was an owner. He was pretty much the only employee at the restaurant, besides one server in uniform. He sat us as soon as we walked in and gave us menus to look at. Like many foreign businesses, you can tell that super engaging customer service isn't the focus. I don't mean this in a negative way at all; coming from experience with family as well as travel, foreigners don't necessarily show hospitality through sounding super peppy. At foreign restaurants, service is usually shown by recommending personal favorites, providing larger portions, and making the customer love their food. After a few minutes, he asked us if we were ready to order. My friend and I decided to each go for our own entrees as well as two Indian bread sides to share. I went for the Lamb Chettinad, and my friend went for the Chicken Madras. The person serving us informed us that we can choose various spice levels. There were five different ones. I opted in for the second spiciest level (4). My friend opted in for the "medium." This was one level up from mild. We also opted in for the Bhatara (Fried Naan Bread) and Lasooni Naan (baked Garlic Naan). A few minutes after taking our orders, the employee offered us to get Mango Lassi. We decided to try it out. Our Lassi came out just a few minutes before the food. It was sweet, creamy, but still fresh with tangy mango flavor. In the meantime, my friend and I were happy to see a few tables of other people come in. About 10 minutes after getting our Lassi, our entrees and bread came out. The food looked delicious, and we were excited to dig in. Both of our main entrees were delicious. Despite us ordering different spice levels, both entrees tasted like they had roughly the same level of spice. We weren't too mad at it, because both dishes held both a lot of flavor with some heat as well. In terms of quality, I thought both the lamb and chicken were cooked extremely well. The chicken breast in the Chicken Madras was very tender. The lamb in the Chettinad was also juicy without having the gamey taste that lamb can sometimes have. Both breads were incredible. The rice on the side could have been cooked a bit longer, but it wasn't too bad after being eaten with sauce form curry. Garlic Naan is a long-time favorite of mine. The Bhatara (Fried Naan) was new to me, and it was absolutely incredible. It was both fluffy and crispy without retaining a ton of oil from frying.Throughout our meal, the manager/server/host came to check on us a few times. He was very intent on making sure we enjoyed the flavor of our food, which I liked a lot. Overall, I really liked our experience here. I wouldn't say this is THE BEST Indian food that I've had. However, I still enjoyed it thoroughly as someone who has eaten plenty of Indian food throughout her life. There are a few other Indian spots in Philly I'd like to try out, but I can still see myself coming back here for some authentic food and service.

Ordered delivery after a rough, late day at work. Wanted comfort food. Karma delivered beyond my expectations. Got a "bread basket," which arrived warm, fresh from the oven. There were a few types of bread and more than we could eat with one meal. We ate it for days. We shared dal tadka, a hearty lentil dish that was spicy and rich in flavor, and grilled vegetables from the tandoor. The vegetables were also roasted perfectly and were full of flavor. Leftovers made for some delicious lunches. My husband talked about that meal for days to anyone who would listen. I'm sure we'll be ordering again soon.

Visited Karma for my birthday dinner and it was delicious. The food was amazing. You can customize the spice level of your dishes which got me super excited because I love spicy food. I got the nimbu salmon, I got it spicy and it had a good kick to it, was not burn your mouth spicy that you can't enjoy it. It added depth to the dish. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful. He suggested that I get extra sauce on the side and made the sauce spicy for me as well. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back. I only take a star away because they only had one dessert to offer, and the restaurant was very cold.

Wow! That was yum! We GRUBBED and had delicious leftovers to take home too. Absolutely loved how there were assortments of every type of dish possible- breads, veggie, meats, etc- so I didn't have to make any tough decisions and could try everything. Perfect for family style! My personal favorite was the chicken saagwala! Enjoyed it the next day for dinner as well. Our waiter was super friendly and patient with us too. Food came out quickly which is always an added bonus :)

The food is amazing 10/10. The dishes are usually a little dirty. They have a limited drink selection (tea, coke, water). Love the food the problem is they rarely have it...call ahead to see if they have whatever it is you want.
