For a practically middle of nowhere establishment . Julio's delivers on aspects. Food is good, not great. Service is great, not excellent. Atmosphere can become a little hard to hear, and talking amongst your own table can become difficult. Mostly because of the great selection of margaritas. Parking is very poor. Small parking lot.

The service was great, the food, not so much. We got an appetizer of guacamole which was good. Couldn't really mess that up. My husband got the carne guisada which is supposed to be stewed meat in a gravy sauce, but it was more like stewed meat with potatoes, onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños. It was in a very liquidy broth, which I would even call a soup. Not like the thick gravy that carne guisada is supposed to come in. It wasn't very good at all. I got the Julio's Mexican plate which came with a taco, bean tostada, cheese puff w/ queso, a cheese enchilada, rice & beans. My husband ate my taco, the bean chalupa was so thick with refried beans that I couldn't eat it. I ate half of the cheese enchilada that was just so so & the beans & rice was bland. The only thing we really liked was the tortillas & the ice water. My hubs is Hispanic & he said it reminded him of white people trying to make Mexican food. lol Needless to say, we probably won't be back for another meal.

Julio's food and service has always been good. But last night the food was not so good. We ordered the Mahi Mahi which we're pretty sure was not Mahi Mahi at all. Very small piece of fish, very dry, like it had been cooked and warmed up again. The guacamole had no flavor. We should have returned it!! It will be awhile before we return. Lots of other Mexican food places to choose from.
