While in Philly / NJ I wanted to support as many soul food establishments as I could. While the offerings here weren't my style, I could tell that the business is a valuable asset in the area and the owner is working hard. As a single female traveler, I can say don't be intimidated or hesitate about the area. Just park on the main drag, plug the meter, and walk over. It's a busy part of Olney shared by a diverse range of Hoomans.

Black owned business! Food / taste is very consistent. Just about everything on the menu taste great! Food is made to order. I've seen a few reviews complaining about the wait but when majority of your food is made to order you should expect it. It's not like they are throwing pre made food in a bag. I've been eating here for about 5 years now and while there has been mistakes (they are human people think black owned means perfect or that you have to go above and beyond to service you when we eat from and support businesses with no fuss that flat out tell us it's not made for us) the food has always been a WIN WIN for me. If you've had a bad experience I promise you it's just by chance. The owner/chef is amazing, very accommodating, extremely pleasant and people pleasing so if there's a problem he won't hesitate to fix it.

I wanted a fried fish platter so looked in yelp and decided to gove this place a try.I called in and ordered a whiting platter with mac and yams. The lady on the phone asked if I wanted a small or large. I asked what the difference was in the sizes and the difference in price and she said it comes with 2 sides. She said the platter was $10 so I just ordered it not caring about the size.I asked how long she said 25 minutes. I arrived about 30 minutes just to give them more time. I advised the young lady I was there to pick up my food she asked for a number. I said I was not given a number but I ordered a fish platter and was told 25 minutes. She said she didnt have an order. As I was about to walk out a gentleman who I assume was the owner asked what was going on at which time the young lady noticed another employee wrote down the order and left. He immediately apologized and advised he could have the platter ready within 5 minutes. He also offered me a free drink which is not much but it shows the value me as a customer.Now to the food...AWESOME!!!! Fish fried perfect, yams and mac great and the cornbread was delicious too! Had the owner not been there I would have never had the chance to taste this awesome food.Good customer service makes a difference!!!

I have two experiences with this place, the first one was several months ago, and the food was good, but on my latest trip there (the experience is all too familiar) it seems that the business lost sight of what made people want to come back! I ordered a large rib platter (OVER FIFTY BUCKS!) the ribs were cooked at two different times or certainly two different ways, half of it was obviously leftover and the other half wasn't even barbecued, it seemed like it was either parboiled or thrown into an over, it was never turned as the underside was grey! These types of things ensure that in time this business too will be no more! They need to remember who's keeping them in business to be in business! They also forgot to add my potato salad, I had to wait to pick it up several days later. In spite of all of this the owner never even offered to make the order right...again poor business acumen and etiquette! I hate to see another black business fail because of poor management skills; I hope they get it together!

Friendly neighborhood soul food spot near Olney transportation center. Was expecting it to be a little dicey but the decor was nice, the store was clean and they had ESPN on the tvs. For breakfast I got the big breakfast with French toast, home fries and turkey bacon. The food was terrific. The home fries were well seasoned and the French toast was really good. Would definitely recommend!

This place is great. We initially tried it when we were searching for soul food place near us. We were not disappointed we've had the pork chops the fried fish the ribs and the turkey wings out of here and everything is good the only thing we have a complaint about is sometimes the mac & cheese is not up to par but the sweet potatoes are fantastic. The veggies have been amazing too I love the cabbage. Definitely a place to try out
