Joyful House

On the search for a good Asian restaurant. We saw quite a few good reviews on this place and decided to take the drive to try them out. The food was okay, but nothing special. We tried a variety of items, wonton soup, sushi rolls, egg roll, and rice. Their wonton soup was too beefy, it was too much of the thick noodle and hearty beef. The broth was much darker than we like. We enjoy a light noodle with pork and a clearer broth. A bag of crispy noodles comes with the soup. The sushi was good, but nothing special. The egg rolls and spring rolls were okay, but nothing special. Not sure if there isn't much competition in the area and maybe that's why it's highly rated, or maybe because it is a clean newer facility. It was not a terrible experience and their food was good, we just wouldn't make the trip back for more.

Hair in food . Enough said , I ordered general so bean curd and got some candy covered deep fried sweet and sour . Plus they charge 3.95 for a soda Disgusting food and dirty place The local people like it was very busy with country local.

Large portions of very tasty Chinese food. What's not to like??It's a bit of a drive from Exeter, but totally worth it.

Great option when it comes to Chinese, Japanese or Thai food. Food quality is always good and the staff are always very nice. I've tried some other options nearby, but Joyful House is the best. I love their lunch specials and especially the sushi.

This is the best Asian food in the area, they do a mix of different Asian dishes including sushi which is excellent! I recommend the dinosaur roll, I sub avocado for the cream cheese. Also the garlic chicken and sesame chicken are delicious!

I love this place. I work nearby, so I come here at least twice a week for lunch. While the menu is similar to other Chinese take-out style restaurants, the quality of the food at Joyful House is way better than the average Chinese joint. Their food is delicious, always fresh, consistent, and often presented very nicely. In addition to Chinese food, they also have a full Japanese menu and Thai menu. I highly recommend: wonton soup, sweet and sour soup, mixed veg in garlic sauce, general tsos, Thai fried coconut shrimp, Thai basil fried rice and anything on the sushi menu.Joyful House is the best restaurant in Douglassville, and definitely the best Chinese restaurant in Berks County.

Pleasant Surprise in Douglassville!GOOOOOO here for the sushi.So, I'd like to consider myself a bit of a sushi snob.(Well, or it's deprivation mode if it's not an every week and a half staple in the dinner rotation ).Would've never thought to try....but fortunately have some family that just moved out that way, who love a good local take out scene.Well, and in all honesty, random strip malls and sushi can sometimes be worrisome.But......whoa, oh my, eat here.The biggest tell with good sushi is the fish quality.The biggest tell with Great Sushi is the Rice.And Joyful's rice was so fresh.On the order was an Alaskan Roll, Shrimp and Asparagus (asparagus cooked to perfection), Seaweed Salad, Island Roll and the STAR-Sashimi Special Roll.That Roll....(can I eat another one now please.)So unique without rice and wrapped in cucumber.And just sincerely delicious.Go eat sushi at Joyful House, what a great discovery!

Great food and don't limit your meal to just their great Chinese food. The Japanese and Thai food are both good as well. Orders are always done on time and the staff always provides great service.

I don't recommend this place! The food is nasty and the place is dirty. I do not recommend wasting your money.

Always good food and fast, accurate service. Nice people especially the sushi chef.
