We had a chance to try JBC a few weeks back and enjoyed the lunch there! The ambience was nice; given that it's a new restaurant, it was not too loud and crazy busy. The servers were very nice, and they give you free herbal tea (I forgot the name now) as well.I had the Fish Maw Chicken Soup Noodle, and the fresh Fish Maw texture/taste threw me off a bit, since I'm more accustomed to the crunch you get with the dry kind. But it was a good portion of fish maw in the dish, and the broth was warm and hearty. The only downside for me was that the rice noodle was too "Al-dente." I like softer texture rice noodle. The fish skin was good and in huge portion!Tl;dr: Overall, I would recommend JBC for a rainy/cold day!

The only major con is that the flavor wasn't always quite right. The fish maw soup, for its price, was quite good but a little too salty. The dry noodles we ordered were too bland, and hence not particularly enjoyable. We really enjoyed the sides, clean and simple interior, and and appropriate pricing. The noodles average $12-16. The service was also quick and polite. While there were mostly pros, I just couldn't give it 4 stars because the flavor of the main dishes needed some adjustment.

I went to this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday. My first impression when walking in was that it was a quiet, simple and roomy space. I was greeted immediately and directed to sit wherever I wanted to. I chose a booth and sat down. I was brought a menu and a glass of monk fruit tea. The tea was good with a natural sweetness that was not overpowering.I glanced at the menu and decided not to get an appetizer and just dive straight into a few bowls of noodle soup, hoping that would fill me up. I ordered the M1 Mala Spicy Soup with Fish Slices and the Y3 Beef Brisket Rice Noodles in Original Chicken Stock. Service was rapid and the food was served within ten minutes of being seated and ordering. The Beef Brisket Noodle Soup tasted good but a bit on the bland side. However, the brisket in the soup tasted amazing! I could have just ate the brisket and been happy. On that note, if there was more brisket in this soup, it would definitely be a plus.I did thoroughly enjoy the Mala Spicy Fish Slice Soup. It was perfect! The soup's spice level was just right and very flavorful. Not overwhelmingly spicy but enough to coat my forehead and neck with a thin layer of sweat. The fish tasted spectacular, mushrooms plump and tender, the tofu soft and juicy, absorbing all the soup around it. Each bite was a treat! I liked the noodles in both soups and the veggies were great also. There were small bits of ground meat in the soup as well, that I assume was pork. That was another hidden treat and I found myself hunting for the bits of meat in the broth. The restaurant was empty when walking in but soon filled up over the next 30-45 minutes I was in there. Overall, the place was peaceful, clean and the staff were polite and helpful. The food was very good and I'd love to return and try more dishes.

Delicious and filling supreme fish maw chicken soup rice noodle. The broth was really yummy, clean and flavorful. And there was so much inside my huge bowl. For only $16.88 pre tax it was worth it. I could only finish about 3/5ths of my bowl, so I know what I'll be having for lunch tomorrow. They also ask if you want the chicken with or without bone. And they provide some sort of warm barley tea. Overall great and friendly service. I will definitely come back!

JiBeiChuan Rice Noodles 季北川 is a newer noodle house in Houston Chinatown. It took over another rice noodle restaurant. I came here was because the nearby restaurant was full. There are many noodle dishes. Mainly rice noodles, especially the signature dish 花胶鸡汤米粉 is made with fish maw. So, you asked, "what's fish maw?" That's a bladder of large fidh. Don't worry. It's been dried, processed and cooked with seasoning. The benefits of fish maw are higher collagen and higher nutritional value to keep you warm in the cold winter. I ordered it without chicken and ordered fish as a side protein. The soup tasted bland. So, I added a spoon of hot oil. That did wonderfully. Rice noodles are easier to digest and have less carbs. I would be back to try other dishes, if they're not going away in a year (like previous restaurant).

Best Taiwanese noodle I ever had. The sauerkraut pork intestines rice noodles were utterly delicious. A little spicy and flavorful taste. They gave a lot of big pieces intestines. A great amount of toppings which is cabbage, corn, sour pickles cabbage, 3 types of mushrooms, quail egg. The beef tripe sauce is a dry noodle dish served with some soup that tastes like bone soup. Definitely spicier compare to other noodle. It feels like their sauce was home made. Super tasty. Service was nice. She gave us what we ask for. Love the cute design. If we can a chance I'll definitely come back. Highly recommend

I can't tell if this winter is chillier than usual in Houston or if I've just been feeling soupier lately. I would recommend ordering the supreme fish maw and chicken soup that they're known for and slurping up all the golden chicken broth. My mom kept saying that the fish maw is extremely good for collagen production, so I was happy that an already delicious soup component had such great benefits. I couldn't tell if the rice noodles were homemade or not but I was pretty satisfied with them. The other fried menu items we ordered we not worth it, but then again, I was really only interested in the soup and would return again for the same thing.

I love rice noodle soups so when I found out about Jibeichuan I knew I had to try it. I got the H1 supreme fish maw chicken rice noodle soup and the serving was huge. The broth was super rich and a bit too heavy for me so I couldn't finish my serving. I don't think I'll order this dish again but I would like to come back and try their other rice noodle soups. The interior is clean and brightly lit

This was on my to-try list and it did not disappoint. Came in with some friends during lunch on a Tuesday and it was slow and quiet. The restaurant is spacious and bright inside. The waitstaff mainly speaks Chinese, but there are tablets you can order from on the tables. I got the beef brisket tomato noodle soup which was really good. The brisket was soft and super flavorful and the soup was tomato-y but did not taste like V8. I added in some of the chili oil and sambal that is provided at the tables and they enhanced the flavor of the soup even more. The bowl is also super large with lots of noodles and vegetables inside, so it was super filling (might even be shareable if you have a small appetite). I tried some of my friend's fish (same soup) and it was super tender and incredibly flavorful--I liked it more than the beef that I had gotten. We also got the brown sugar rice cake which was okay. It was crispy on the outside, but not that chewy. And there was a brown sugar filling on the inside which was super liquid-y and came out hot. The filling did taste a tad medicinal which I did not dislike, but did not like either. Overall, a great experience, will be returning!

Delicious, homey, & comforting noodle soups! I tried the tomato rice noodle soup & my favorite protein paired with it was the fish: it was tender, light and paired well with the thick, tangy, & savory soup. The beef brisket bowl was more hearty. The rice noodles were firm, and the soup came with a bunch of vegetables. The soups come out HOT which I love. Their chili oil & chili paste is delicious!! The chili paste added a nice garlicky heat that enhanced the umami flavors of my bowl. The brown sugar rice cakes were lightly crispy & chewy with an herbal tasting filling. I would love to come back to try their other noodle dishes! Each table comes with an ipad to view the menu & order from. The restaurant is modern & new with an airy interior. Service is relatively quick & I noticed many to-go orders packaged neatly.
