JD's Soul Food Kitchen

Not sure why they have such a low rating, I was surprised by how late they were open and honestly really enjoyed my order of shrimp and fries. Only slight complaint was the saltiness could have been a little bit lower for my taste buds. That being said the shrimp were huge, nicely fried and came with a tasty dipping sauce. The fries were exactly what I was craving, plus they were seasoned. Hopefully the quality holds up next time I order as well, will definitely be trying other items on the menu.

This restaurant is a gem. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We ordered one fried catfish platter and one whiting platter. It was delish!! Hot, fresh and flavorful.Perfectly seasoned. Our sides were amazing as well. I will definitely add this to my most favored soul food establishments. Some may say it's pricey, however for the portions and the taste, it's definitely worth it!

I like this spot a lot and see much room for growth!! The catfish is to die for--Sides aren't my favorite though, the mac was a little dry and string beans were from out the can BUT I see nothing but a family hustling and working hard together when I visit this place and that speaks volumes to me. The store front is easy to miss at night because there is a tree blocking the sign, but the logo is huge so it's also hard to miss during the day. The receptionist at the front door however is a bit rude and could work on her professionalism and how to properly speak to guest, and the staff were unfortunately not wearing mask but the food was so good so idk I'm kind of 50/50 with this one.

The Main dish be it fish or shrimp tends to be great and can't muss whereas the same can't be said of the sides. The orange (they call it yellow) rice is off-putting and clumpy and I swore they gave me yams by mistake. They informed me that it was their version of rice. Unfortunately they don't have a White rice alternative which I thought was asoul food staple. It would have been nice of them to offer an alternative side whe. I expressed dismay, but apparently the orange rice is free with meals and can only be eliminated not replaced. Careful. One fruit punch container will shoot your price up $3 or more. The same plastic container that The Chinese place sells for $1.50 but The Chiinese place drinks are sweeter. The $10 lunch special is the Best value.

The rice had no taste and was horrible, the potato salad was just bad it's didn't taste good at all and the oxtail don't even get me started it tasted like popcorn. The greens were good and that's it, and don't even get me started on the waiting time. When i called the lady that answered was just mumbling and being uncooperative.-The review was written by my 12yr old daughter

Food is decent but they not consistent. Orderd from them several times trying to support but was really only satisfied 2 times. I posted how my order was wrong on their IG and they blocked me. Lol. Not good with criticism at all. They are also very unprofessional. Got people coming inside their cramped space without masks on selling stuff. Their baby and kids running all around. Im done. NEVER GOING BACK.

I got BBQ Ribs w/ rice and mac&cheese. Mac was solid. I did not like the ribs or rice.

This place is a hit or miss, first two times I enjoyed my meal. Went last night and didn't have a great experience...they have a no mask no entry rule but their workers constantly came in and out of the establishment without a mask and took order without a mask. I ordered a lemonade and the woman left it on the counter while she went outside inside of either A. Giving it to me or B. Leaving it in the fridge until my order was ready. She then proceeded to give me attitude when I asked for another drink in exchanged for the one she left on the counter. Customer service is everything!

I ordered a platter & it's supposed to come with two sides of rice plus two sides. I got home & it was no rice so I called. JD told me I can come back tomorrow to get the rice because they ran out. My friend ordered from there before too & they was out of rice so they went to the Chinese store to get him some the food not even great get it together.
