Ambience was chill. Parking wasn't horrible but I can see it being crunched a bit if you come at a busy time. Gyoza ($8) was interesting in that there was a layer of fried batter covering it. But kinda small.Spicy Chicken Ramen ($16)I took off about half the chili paste when it arrived and it was just enough spicy for me. Decent. Yuzu sorbetBest thing on the menu. Freaking delicious and refreshing. May come back just for this.

This place has become my go-to ramen spot in the last few months. It's the best ramen place in Houston in my opinion (and I'm from Japan). The food is very authentic and overall it's a pleasant experience.Food - I love that they give us options for the noodle thickness and firmness. No matter which flavor of broth you choose, you can't go wrong. The broth is very flavorful and has a deep umami taste. Karaage is also my favorite dish there. They have a slight garlicky and ginger undertone of flavors, just like the traditional Japanese style fried chicken.Service - Usually, we are waited on by a tall gentleman on weekends. He is very personable and quick to attend to any additional needs that we might have.Ambiance - Unlike some of the other ramen places in town, this place is really chill and calm.

Food here js good but soooo slow. Slowest ramen spot I've ever been to. My favorite is the spicy chicken karaage. Very crispy and seasoned well. Dumplings looked good but no flavor. Takoyaki decent. The ramen's pretty good. I like the thick chewy noodles. But again, this is not an in and out place. From when we placed the ramen order to getting ramen it was like 45 mins. Service is okay but they only have like one person working the entire front. So good ish for one person but looked like that's not enough when the place filled up.

Despite having been open for almost a year, Gachi only came to my attention recently; I was sold on going knowing that they had the courage (or perhaps the audacity?) to open up just two blocks away from Tamashi! The opportunity to visit came up after a long shift at the hospital last week - a rich bowl of ramen seemed like the perfect comfort food to help me unwind into the evening. M. and I arrived around 7:30 pm and were quickly seated in the stylish space since we were only 1 of 2 parties there. After a once-over of the menu, we opted to whet our appetite with the spicy chicken karaage before hedging our bets between a bowl of Chicken Original ramen and the namesake Tonkotsu Gachi. For an otherwise empty restaurant, it did feel like our food took a while to come out, but it gave me reassurance that everything was freshly prepared. Our karaage hit the table first and it was rapidly devoured - fried crisply to perfection with a juicy, savory interior and a flavorful heat from the chili oil (so addictive!) After a bit longer, our beautiful ramen bowls arrived with a quiet solemnity - the presentation is immaculate, equally a feast for the eyes as it is for the stomach. :) I had a quick taste of both soups and felt that the complex, allium-forward Gachi bowl had the edge on the luscious but otherwise one-note chicken broth. The noodles are delightfully toothy and really stand up to the thick, rich soups, as do the sweet, crunchy bamboo shoots and the jammy seasoned egg. It didn't take us long to finish our bowls, tipping meat and soup and noodles and all into our satisfied selves. Now that I've had 2 of the "standard" bowls offered by Gachi, I'm eager to try the spicy versions of each as well as the vegan option - I'm curious to see how it'll compare to the vegan option offered by Rakkan! I do hope this place sees more visitors as it's so conveniently placed in the TMC with ample parking to boot. I'll be back soon!

We were here for lunch and service was quite slow due to one server in house.Took too long to get serve. Must also lack of staffs in the kitchen.I was asking for siracha (hot sauce) and didn't get it until I finished my meal. Food wise was nothing out of ordinary.Price wise was a bit high considering from the small portion. I was hoping it would be good since there are not too many ramen places in medical center area

I'm so happy for this place. We live nearby and loved a ramen spot in Chinatown that recently closed down. Service was great, ambiance is modern Japanese. Love the whole history of the word Gachi written on the wall! RamenTonkotsu *reg 3/5Kyoto style? The ramen broth is more gray rather than milky yellowy white like most places. I love the fact you can ask for firm noodle texture and less fatty broth or fattier broth. It was ok for me. I guess it isn't the style I like tho when I first made ramen at home, my broth ended up looking and tasting like this style. Thick soup, definitely not watered down, slirping soup. But regardless, I'd get it again but will request the yellow wavy noodles. Chicken 5/5Get is regular style and no hot bomb. It is amazing on its own! Tastes like free range hens and perfect egg flavor as well! Their soft boiled egg is one of the best I've tasted. Definitely packed with the umami. SidesFries, non spicy 5/5We ordered two sets of these because they are tiny. But so flavorful and if you don't know what umami is, eat a fry and you'll know. Karaage regular 4/5Loved this so much. Lightly battered and ultra crispy skin, juicy chicken bits with a generous amount of lemony mayo. Squeeze more lemon on it for best experience! Tea cups are nice for hot tea!!! I love their chopsticks as well!!! Will be back!

I was excited to try the ramen here since there are so many 4+ star reviews. The Vegan Miso Gachi ramen was good, the broth was tasty but black garlic oil also made it slightly bitter and some toppings to balance that would have elevated the overall flavor. The noodles were also 2x the quantity of other toppings whereas I have been to other ramen places that have a good mix of the two. There was no protein such as tofu or egg as an add-on option either.

This is honestly one of my top ramen places that I've tried in Houston. I had heard that the ramen here is very authentic, so I had to try it out for myself. I came here on a week night for dinner, and unfortunately, they were a bit understaffed. There appeared to be only one server for all of the tables, so it did take a while for him to take our order. I'm writing this review a few months later from when I tried this restaurant, so I hope that has changed now. He was very friendly though.I tried the tonkotsu gachi ramen. It was VERY delicious and flavorful. It didn't feel overly heavy like some other ramen places that I've tried. I can say that this does taste pretty authentic. I like the location of this place too because I live around here, and it's easy access for people around the medical center to go to. I hope this place stays here for a while!I would absolutely come back.

This place is a hidden gem in the med center. The ramen was rich and flavorful. I appreciated the fact that we can adjust spice levels and saltiness levels. Could keep sipping on the broth. It was perfectly savory and comforting. The fried oysters were delectable . The miso tartar sauce was great. The gachi fries were perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Loved the garlic oil flavor to them. The spicy chicken karaage was delicious! I feel this dish is a hit or miss at restaurants cause they tend to dry out but these were so juicy and flavorful! It almost beat out the ramen for me.Loved the tea set up. Will definitely return in the near future.
