My family and I have been coming here for years as it is in a convenient location not too far from our house. I'm saddened to say the quality of the food has decreased over the years and have to change my overall rating to 3 stars. The chicken wings is way too fried for what the traditional Chinese chicken wing dish is supposed to be (probably didn't change the oil), they got our order wrong in our flat rice noodle dish, the XO sauce noodle dish was too salty and didn't taste like the normal XO sauce, the chicken feet were redder (more food colored) than their usual chicken feet dish, and their siu mai didn't look like siu mai, just little conglomerates of pork. The beef fillet on the platter was not tender at all. Overall food quality I would say was a 2.5, but giving this place a 3 for what it usually is like.

Service was wonderful, the waiter was all smiles everytime he came by the table. Food was served at a reasonable time considering they have to steam your dim sum as you order. I grew up in a dim sum restaurant and I really was hoping for some delicious dim sum since I was visiting from MN but I would have to warn everyone I tasted nothing but MSG and the buns were very dry. The wrapper on the shrimp dumpling was on the thicker side. Decent size restaurant with a handful of big tables for larger groups. I went on a weekday so they weren't busy at all. The parking lot has handicap parking but the ramp is located at the end of the parking lot so it's a little inconvenient if someone in your party has a wheelchair.

My parents like this place so I came with them for lunch. It's just okay. Lunch special is well priced at $7.99 without soup or sides. The size is okay. We got 1. salt pepper shrimp which is my favorite - 4 stars here. You get about 8 pieces. 2. beef with Chinese broccoli. 3 stars. Chinese broccoli is really good. The beef quality is just so so. Some good some bad3. Whole fried fish $15.99 1 star. Terrible. See photos. The fish was frozen and old. This was such a waste of money.

Used to come here a lot for dim sum and dinner but at one point the place changed management and the food was just not that great. I decided to give this place a try again and came for dinner. We ordered the lobster noodles, soft shell crab, my favorite Chinese veggies and sweet and sour pork. The flavors were not as strong in the dishes that I was used to having compared with other places that I've eaten at. The service was great as the staff came around frequently to fill up my water. Inside the restaurant is fairly large so there is a good amount of seating available. I would definitely come again to give it another chance but overall I thought it was good.

Nice authentic spot in Sugar Land located in the Welcome shopping center. They used to operate in Chinatown, but they moved here. It's a nice change from the commonly found Sichuan Cuisine throughout Houston. Flavors are a bit more subdued, which is why the older folks tend to enjoy it more. Dishes aren't overly salty or greasy. They're able to accommodate large parties, with lazy susans abundant, which is convenient. I enjoy the old school vibe. My top dishes are the walnut shrimp, Peking duck, and the pork belly. Special mention goes to the diving fish. I love that they offer a compliment bean soup for dessert. It makes a great palate cleanser.

Does the job really nicely if you live in Missouri City/ Sugar Land and you don't want to drive to Bellaire.Service was okay. They brought out the wrong item, and they didn't really stop to check to see if you wanted anything, and had to flag down the waitstaff to put in my order after waiting a whileThe food was good! Huge portion sizes, at a decent value

Can I give negative stars? Horrendous! The restaurant smelled like a gas station bathroom and the food was inedible. The waiter could not communicate at all. We were seated next to a table where the gentleman was gagging on his food (I can certainly see why!), and the entire experience was disgusting, unsavory, nauseating, and pathetic! I will never darken this door again and if possible, this place should be shut down immediately. With the stench, there must be code violations galore!

My friends and I are still depressed over Kim Son Stafford closing and were excited to stumble upon Jade Garden. As soon as we got there, there were a couple of parties in front of us that were taking a while to get seated, despite the relatively small party sizes and many empty tables. It was a significantly long wait, and had it not been for the nice guy in front of us who told us to sign in on a random piece of paper that was inconspicuously placed on the counter, we would never have known to check in as there is no sign anywhere that tells you to do so (we might as well not have even bothered, they don't check the paper at all.) My friend and I noticed there had been a guy waiting for his to-go order, it had to at least been 45 minutes by the time I saw him leave. We finally get seated, and we were cautiously optimistic because the first 2-3 orders came out pretty quickly. After that, it kind of went downhill from there. An order of siu mai came out that we clearly did not order, and it felt like we were made to feel guilty even though it was their mistake. We also wanted to order a side of steamed rice, and the waitress initially told us we would not be able to because it wasn't on the dim sum menu. (?) I don't know if it was a language barrier thing, but I have been to many other dim sum and Chinese restaurants where this wasn't an issue.I don't know if the whole experience tainted my opinion of the food, but general consensus around the table was that we all would have gone somewhere else or driven further to Bellaire.

Rude hostess lady is gone (or at least not there this time), so they get a star back. But we put in a carry out order over the phone at 12:25 and we're told to pick up in 20 minutes. I got there at 12:45, asked for my order, paid, and then waited....and waited. At 1:15 I got tired of waiting and walked over to a table where 2 bags of takeout had been sitting, discovered that it was my order that had been sitting there for 10 minutes, and asked the server if I could take the bags. The server had earlier asked for my order number and checked one bag that was NOT my order, but for some reason didn't check these two bags that were my order. Got home, opened the boxes and the order was incorrect. I was missing one dish and had a double order of another instead. And yes, the food was cold.Edit to add: Today's mishap was NOT on the waiters. They were incredibly busy and juggling way too many responsibilities. They were trying to bus tables, seat incoming guests, check out leaving guests, take to-go orders, bring food to the tables, and many other things. The restaurant was more than 50% full but there were only 3 of them. The kitchen messed up the order and there weren't enough people on the floor. It's not the fault of the people who were there. They did the best they could...

The last time we went to Jade Garden (8 years ago) our Shu Mai was raw. We decided to give this place another try (8 years later) and our experience did not improve. We ordered the Shu Mai again (bc... what is dim sum without Shu Mai?) and this time it was fully cooked, but came with a piece of plastic. The manager comped the dish and replaced it with a shrimp dumpling. We took the shrimp dumpling home and found this sharp crab claw. Why is this even in the shrimp dumpling? I don't think we will be back. If you do visit, I recommend cutting your food before you eat it.
