Hu Nan Express - Lakewood

This tiny shopping mall eatery is really only set up for take out only. They have a tiny - probably 8 entree cafeteria set up for quick service. You can order some of the dishes off the menu displayed above the prepared hot food display and in the specials menu. There is one table and a ittle booth seat but not enough space for more than two people to eat in. The service was great. I mean this seems like a family owned and operated establishment. The person who took our order was fantastic and patient as we had never been there before. We ordered the fried sesame tofu which used soft tofu and was unappetizingly wet and squishy. It would be better with firm tofu. It came with dried out plain fried rice. We also got a combo platter with tow entrées, rice and noodles. It's honestly a good value for the money with as much food as you get. They really piled it on. The sesame chicken was the only entree I enjoyed and the noodles were good too. We also got another chicken dish with vegetables but I didn't like the taste of that one. I also didn't like the tofu dish. We also ordered some soups and the sesame balls for dessert. The soups were ok. Everyone seemed to enjoy them enough. Apart from the sesame chicken the sesame dessert balls with red bean paste were my favorite. If I were to go back I would go back for only those. Great service but the food was ok. Honestly if the rice hadn't been dried out. It would have been better.

Food is fresh and the chicken is good quality which is why I give it 3 stars, however the food overall lacks flavor and I'm pretty sure the Lomein was made with spaghetti noodles which was strange. The fried rice was bland and the sauce in the chicken and broccoli was good but a little watery and felt like it was missing something. Solid for the price and quality but nothing to write home about.

I love Hu Nan Express, it's such a hidden gem and the people there are so sweet! I love their cooking and I always get the combo B. Definitely my go to :)

Been coming here for years and I don't go anywhere else. Foods better than Panda at half the cost. Would recommend to anyone. Simply the best in Lakewood

Amazing food! Always fresh, hot, and delicious. The woman working behind the counter is always very sweet and I go so much she remembers my order (which is an added bonus)!Love being able to stop by here on my way home and get an affordable meal instead of having to cook, always hits the spot and never disappoints.

Imoved close to the Hunan Express, so I thought I would give it a try. Said on there Google site take out or eat there. Only a tiny table and bench, no where to sit. It was only after 7:00 pm and food in most the some trays was about empty. I ordered the mushroom chicken didn't even get full order! The sesame chicken. The WORST Chinese food I have ever eaten!! Went right home, Not even hot, mushroom chicken tasteless, the sesame chicken like rubber balls. I won't be back! I usely go to king Wok WONDERFUL, food is good and tables and booth you can Really sit down and eat. Two miles from this whole in the wall south on Sheridan St. Don't make my mistake!!!

Amazing local spot . They really hook it up here and it's affordable. The owners are very sweet . Would definitely recommend. We love coming here !

Very generous and very good food. The owners are the nicest people, always kind and friendly. They are quick to fill the order and food is always fresh. Absolute best fried shrimp!

I come here any time I need a pick me up! Great food and great prices :) the hostess is always the same and she is so kind every time. I prefer takeout so I like the set up of the restaurant.
