Regarding sushi, to my surprise, it was excellent. I wanna write improvements. The chef constantly touched his mobile phone before cooking. I was not sure if he washed his hands. there were a lot of germs on the cell phone. Hope he washed his hands. When the chef or server uses the phone, please hide and use it.Overall, it was a small mom-and-pop restaurant, but i gave 5 stars."

The volcano roll is enormous and they light the mayonnaise on fire at your table on this roll. The crazy salmon roll spectacular the fish is super fresh the cream cheese definitely adds a nice touch to this item on the menu. The monkey brain outstanding! The spicy salmon on one side the avocado on the other side rolled up and fried with excellent sauces I believe in eel sauce and some other kind of sauce all over the top superb! And it's humongous just like all of the other roles definitely enough to share. The salmon dinner comes with sauteed vegetables and rice and soup and salad. After the rolls I couldn't even eat this part of the meal but the salmon was cooked nicely the vegetables were crispy and excellent the soup was a bit watered down as well as the dressing on the salad. The yellowtail sushi was exquisite there wasabi is not on the hot side so definitely get extra if you want to spice things up a little bit.Overall this place is an adorable small sushi spot tucked in the corner of the big shopping center you will enjoy if you have to wait a while to be seated the food is very much worth it enjoy"

My wife and I ended up here on our anniversary after killens steak house was closed due to lack of electricity during the wind storms. We splurged and ordered appetizers, "sushi" not raw, and the hibachi platter that serves two or more, it came with lobster tails, scallops, steak, shrimp, the whole shabang. Probably not usually nice enough for anniversary dinner, but don't regret it at all. I do recommend they dim the lights for dinner. Great service, great food, fair prices."

Liz F. "This interactive place allows you to put as much spice and heat and ingredients as you can fit in the bowl. You start at the table where you make out your place card. Choose what kind of rice or noodles you want with your dish. Add your table number and name. Take the card and put on a tray at the serving line. Then take the bowl they gave u at the table and put proteins, spices, butter (if u want), egg and vegetable. What u put in the bowl is what they cook on the grill. Last stop before you turn in your tray is to pick sauce(s), my two favorite sauces are the Mongolian and Garlic. Then slide your tray to the grill folks. This would be great for vegetarians or carnivores alike, as you choose what you like. PS they had shrimp and calamari for protein choices the day I was there. When your food is done they will bring it to your table in a nice sized bowl and then you get to enjoy. My favorite is the teriayaki chicken with ginger powder, garlic powder, green onions, carrot, onion, celery, broccoli, bean sprouts and udon noodles. I put the Mongolian and garlic sauce on mine. It was yummy (pun intended). Oh, and the fortune cookies were nice and fresh (crisp and slightly sweet). Was a nice way to end the meal. The wait staff will also bring you drinks. They were pretty attentive the day my party of 9 was there. Some of my party also ordered 2 shaggy dogs and 1 order of cream cheese fried dumplings for the table. They said those were good. Tip: put egg on tray. You will need all the room in your bowl for meat and veggies. Also, it may take a couple of trips to this restaurant to get the right combo of spices, ingredients and sauces to get it just like you like. You can change it up til you get it perfect. Hope you enjoy!"

Brittany B. "A hop skip and a jump from the Woodlands Mall, it's easy to relax into this peacefully decorated spot. It's more than the relaxing soundtrack, and quiet patrons, it's moreso the spaciousness, inviting service, stress free parking (bonus of a suburban restaurant), and the prospect of authentic cuisine in the area that's not categorized as "American" or "Modern American" (ie every popular Woodlands restaurant). On our visit, I was unfortunately distracted from my zen bubble as soon as our food arrived. Although the food was presented beautifully, myself and my guest immediately noticed the tables (ours included) sat too far away from the booth seats for comfort. I get it- usually this is a minor thing, but the distance was pretty drastic, so much so that it made eating a chore. I'm not sure if this is every diners experience (being that I'm 4'11" with the arm span of someone my stature), but is imagine it effects a majority of diners, and while I love a good workout, it's not exactly my idea of a relaxing meal.Other than that, the meal was fine, the curry was comforting, but I'm still in search of a Thai Food joint that will knock my socks off. All is forgiven with amazing food! As always, I plan to give them another try in the future. I'll select a different dish and maybe a table instead of a booth. :)"

Steve L. "I noticed Airi as I was stopping by next door at KF to get some work done. Soft opening of their restaurant. So thankful that I changed my plans to come here for lunch. The interior was crisp, clean, and modern. Really tasteful Japanese lanterns without being overdone. And an incredible mural depicting the street life within a Japanese urban area. I debated a bit with the menu (you wonder if a place that serves General Tao's chicken can produce some solid non-fusion food) but went with the waitress' recommendation to get the spicy miso ramen. The broth was beautifully rich and thick, with just the right amount of spice level that still allowed me to taste the rich textures of the meat. The pork belly was deliciously seasoned and amazingly tender. The soft boiled egg was perfect and the vegetables were fresh and crisp and added to an overall impressive ramen. There was nothing fusion about this dish at all- just honest to goodness, legit ramen."

Eric M. "After a long day in the med-center we pulled off of 99 on our way back home and after some brief hemming and hawing, landed on Fujiya Ramen and sushi. It apparently used to be another Japanese restaurant at some point that changed. When we got inside we were promptly greeted and seated by a polite hostess/server. The restaurant is cute and clean, with some cool Japanese decorations and murals throughout (the koi mural near the restrooms is particularly cool) and even the little hand-written/drawn special cards at each table seem to have been created thoughtfully. We ordered drinks and a couple of appetizers to start. Sodas are free refills from a fountain so that was already a pretty big W as that is somewhat rare in these types of restaurants. We started with the gyoza and their Ninja Jalapeños. The gyoza were small but tasty, and as my 10 year old remarked "pan fried very well", and he was not wrong; they were nicely crisped on all the edges, evident of a good pan frying. The ninja jalapeños were also pretty tasty with a good helping of cream cheese and crab mixture on a sliced jalapeno that is then tempura battered and fried, with a drizzling of spicy mayo. So far we're all pleasantly surprised with our visit. For our entrees, i ordered the spicy curry miso ramen (my son ordered the same), I got a side of fried rice and my wife got the lo mein. The spicy curry miso ramen comes with a katsu chicken cutlet on the side with some dipping sauce which was pretty cool. The chicken was pounded out thin and crispy fried and went well with the dipping sauce (no clue what the sauce was). The ramen was carefully prepared as you could tell from the way each ingredient was perched atop the next, the broth was exactly what was advertised: a creamy, curry flavored broth full of flavor, with noodles, mushrooms, corn and a few other accoutrements. The side of fried rice I got was some of the best fried rice I've had in a while. Definitely freshly made fried rice, not just sitting in a giant vat; this rice was light and fluffy and full of flavor with some chicken and veggies laced throughout. I will get a larger order of the fried rice next time. The wife was very happy with her lo mein as well which had a nice tasty sauce without being too heavy or sweet, with al dente noodles and a variety of meat. Our server made sure our drinks were full and that we didn't go without anything, but without being overbearing. When I asked about dessert she suggested the not-on-the-menu fried Oreo, which we ended up getting and it was 4 perfectly fried, gooey, chocolatey cookies served with a chocolate mochi in the center. This place really surprised us, I expected an average, dime a dozen ramen bar but you can tell they really take pride in their craft here and are working hard to stand out from the rest. Definitely give them a shot when you're in the area!**spotless bathrooms also**"

I wasn't particularly excited about the miso soup, perhaps I should have had the salad. My friend ordered some dumplings which were pretty good. In fact I ended up using the dumpling sauce instead of soy sauce for my sushi. The sushi was good. The dessert was great. This was not environmentally friendly but anyways to move into the food. The rice to filling ratio was off. There should be less rice. The rice itself was overcooked with too much water resulting in a mushy taste. The eel sauce wasn't too die for per usual. The salmon was funky. I can't explain why. It had such an off taste. My sushi craving was not fulfilled. I guess this is another reason to fly back to Japan for another round of fish. With that being said, I understand it's hard to compare my frequent sushi adventures in Japan to a sushi shop in the US but I found some really good local not fancy sushi shops in all neighborhoods of nyc so it's doable. Everything was great except for the Foie Gras. Instead of being paired with a berry compote, it was served on toast with peanut butter and oh man... talk about about let down. The consistency of the peanut butter ruins it, and there's nothing to cut the heaviness of the Foie Gras and the PB. They advertise their omakase for happy hour with a $10 discount at $45 per person. We sat at a table instead of the bar, so we did not get a chance to interact with the chefs, I do miss that aspect of omakase. So I'll state that yes it is chefs choice but it's more of a combo, comes with certain pieces but it comes out all at once and with not much discretion besides what is on the sheet. However, my wife and I don't mind as we really do most of our judgement via the actual taste. This omakase was solid value but we really only got exposed to one new fish that we wouldn't normally order, the Masu/ocean trout. This was delicious! And I will continue looking for this at other restaurants. We ordered additional items from both their happy hour menu and their normal menu since the omakase is smaller than other places. I initially bookmarked it because I saw that they had sushi burritos, but when I actually visited, I was craving a bowl more than a burrito.I custom built my bowl with all the fixins and was content with it. Was it the most amazing poke bowl I've ever had? No, but it hit the spot with what I was looking for.I also added Gyoza to my order and thought those were very good, as was the mango boba tea, which seemed to be made from real mango, rather than just artificial flavoring. Also, I'll add that the person working here could not have been more friendly and welcoming! The biggest gripe for us was that the plastic spork was really not great for poke consumption. It was just a bit too flimsy to really get much substance when diving in to a jam packed bowl of goodness. This would easily be solved with an upgrade to the plastic cutlery, so not a big problem to overcome.Next time: sushi burritos will be had."
