"We visited Restaurant Y Pupuseria Olocuilta on several occasions. The food here is always delicious. My recommendation as you read this review is to call and place your order because they get super busy. Patience is key when you visit this restaurant. The food is always cooked to perfection. We have enjoyed:- Ensalada de frutas (drink)- Pupusas Mixto- ChurrascoIf you enjoy Salvadorian food, stop by this location. Parking is limited. Don't forget to call ahead as they make everything to order."
"The cook was super friendly and nice. He was talking to me like he had been knowing me for forever... He let me try the Salvadoran drink that reminds me of the the Nicaraguan drink Pinolío. Yum!! I had 3 pork and cheese pupusas and they were delicioso!!!!!! A little hole in the wall that offers a familial environment."
"I'll keep this short and sweet.Delicious pupusas! Very tasty and juicy carne asada plate. Very friendly server.I had a great experience! Too bad I don't work around here anymore otherwise I'd totally come back for more."
"I really like the pupusas from here! Their food takes a while to come out... that's probably the only reason why I won't give them 5 stars. Their customer service is a bit, no so kind."
"They have the best pupusas in town and yuca con chicharron. The person who left a bad review talking about why they have uncooked seafood near the register is dense. That platter is obviously just for show i did not know people were that taciturn."
"Beat pupusas in Texas!!! I drive 30 min once a week for these delicious pupusas!! Loroco, mixtas, they are all great!!"
"Trust me you will love the food it's fresh can take time but will be worthwhile wait The Pupusas are the best The fresh chicken soup made at the moment everything here is made fresh Les gustara la comida aqui es preparada en el momento tomara tiempo pero es mejor Esperar em comer algo preparado fresco Las Pupusas La soap de gallina todo preparado en el momento"
"Just tried my very first Salvadorian pupusa and it was delicious! A coworker bought us some for breakfast and completely fell in love with it! It looks like a pancake filled with a thin layer of goat cheese and tastes a bit like a tamale, using the same corn meal type consistency, but then fried crispy on the outside. They have several toppings that could be added... a cole slaw, several different pico de gallo's, and a spicy sauce that gave each bite a kick. The pupusas are a bit on the greasy side and you'll feel like you'll have to hug it in tons of napkins to sop up all the extra oil but after that you'll soon get distracted with how good these things are. Forewarning it does give you a "can I take a midday nap at work" type of feeling. Definitely trying this place out again now that I've discovered it!"
"Great pupusas revueltas and plantains. Everything you order here is delicious. The refried beans, cream, with plantains is the best."
"Nothing but positive reviews from me! Been here twice and have not been disappointed. First time, I did a to-go pickup for Bistec Encebollado and Pechuga de Pollo. I actually went there and placed the order at the counter. It took maybe 15 min. wait - not too bad. The owner was super friendly and let me try the curtido (I just googled that otherwise, I would've typed in cabbage slaw) because I was eyeing it in the drink fridge even though I didn't order pupusas. The bistek and the chicken were delicious and so tender. My second visit was for brunch dine-in. I ordered the breakfast with chicharron, plantains, black beans, avocado and 2 eggs. Oh gosh so delicious - I devoured my meal. The young waitress was very nice and she kept checking on us to make sure we were all good. It's a must try - don't pass up this little jewel on Almeda."

Terrible service. Ordered with 3 days of anticipation and still didn't have order ready. Told to wait for 5 minutes that turned into 20. Customers in and out and we're still waiting. What's the point of ordering ahead.Servicio lento y terrible. Si quiere que lo traten como que si le están haciendo favor y como que si están regalando comida venga acá. No recomiendo.

Came for the pupusas per a friends recommendation. Second guessed it bc the last he told me to try was awful. SO GLAD I CAME! I got three with pork and cheese. Sampled all of their salsas (verde, and two store bought) the verde was the best. The pickled cabbage was by far the best I've ever had. It was tangy, had a hint of spicy, and didn't taste like it was made yesterday- YUM. The pupusas were cooked to a slight crisp but still soft. It didn't fall apart or wasn't too crunchy. - someone who knows nothing about salvadorian food and how it should actually be prepared, served, or eaten but everything about this was the best I've had in a while.

The first impression in a Salvadoran place like this is its decoration. It is a small place but very rich food. The members are very happy and attentive when attending the tables. we order Pupusas & carne azada. Also shrimp. Everything is very rich. Why 4 stars?I think what you should not do in this place. is go to the bathrooms. especially mans ones .They are not clean apart I found Black linen. towels in which the utensils are wrapped so you can eat . The trashcan was full and gross . So if you want to enjoy your food.

Visited this place on a lunch break by chance. The place itself is okay, nothing spectacular about it.I order a shrimp quesadilla, which i loved, and two chicken corn tacos. The chicken taco was horrible! They seemed thrown together to me.Considering the shrimp quesadilla was so good, I was totally surprised to have a taco of poor quality. The services was cool, but food alone has me not wanting to return. Step the food game up!

Lives up to all the hype, delicious pastor torta and beef papusa. Came with three hot sauces, the orange pepper was my favorite. Will be back to try more. All cooked to order fresh, so expect a little wait. Even on a hot day the canopy is comfortable to wait under.
Visit Restaurant Page"Two words about Mi Case de Sabor - muy amable (very friendly in Spanish). I was amazed with a warm welcome as I walked in this restaurant. Being a Hispanic Asian, I have advantages in many ways. Mi Casa de Sabor reminded me of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in South America where I came from. It has a large dining room to accommodate parties. The South American decorations and endless Latin American music made feel like the good old days. Here is how I found Mi Casa de Sabor on my staycation. I was shopping nearby on a rainy day. My immediate thought was "I want soup!" So, I pulled out my Yelp app and started to search what pops up with benefits.I considered soups and appetizers quick comfort foods. I ordered a beef bone soup and empanadas. The meat was so tender and the soup was flavorful. I was surprised with the size of the shank meat. I literally have to use fork and knife to cut it. Then, empanadas were so good. I normally expect huge cavity in the meat pie. But I was wrong again. The empanada was fill with vegetables, rice and beef; and there was no room for air. It took the kitchen a little longer than most restaurants for what I ordered. But I took time to enjoy studying the menu. I would come back for pupusas. I also want to try enchiladas as recommended by my Yelper friend Maria S.The friendly staff is another reason for my return. I enjoyed a weird stare from customers because I'm Asian. But it's okay. I get this all the time.**66th review of 2018**"
"This place is very good. It's right around the corner from my place so it's very convenient. I have sampled several different pupuseria places and this place always achieves that perfect texture. Not to crunchy and definitely not gritty. The salsas are both good but the green is my favorite as it spicier than the red. My only issue is they're cash only but then a lot of the best gems are. Oh and they're incredibly cheap! Pupusas are very filling and when it's less than 10 to feed two it's a great deal. Definitely give it a go."
"Very good ! Place is nice ! Service is good !Food is excellent! Prices are very reasonable! They have healthy choices also .I will comeback for breakfast!"
"My car repair took longer than usual, so I headed here, as a friend recommended it. Having taught school in Central America, I came to love pupusas, but want the real thing, and that's what you'll get at Cristo Rey! Very nice staff, clean and simple restaurant. I had a bean and cheese pupusa, and platanos fritos, with crema. It takes a few minutes to get your food, because they are making it to order; served hot and fresh, with some delicious beans, too. The portions are generous, and good prices. This is simple, delicious food, and a great place to get to know the food from Salvador. Looking forward to my next visit!"
"I usually just give a heavy splash of whatever hot sauce that's on the table. Caution they have Chile Habanero sauce! ( El Yucateco Brand) WoW"
"This is probably one of my favorite Salvadoran restaurants in Houston. Their menu is expansive - offering pupusas, soups, seafood, parilladas...If you're new to Salvadoran food, you can't go wrong with the pupusa plate, which comes with two pupusas of choice, tamale of your choice and fried plantains or fried yuca. If you want to eat on the lighter side, the fried mojara plate with rice and salad is a solid choice - the whole fish was cooked perfectly and could easily feed 2-4 people. Salsa wasn't too spicy; curtido (cabbage salad) was great. The tortillas are homemade, too! Aguas frescas, beer, and micheladas are some bevs of choice. My grandmother loved the agua de jamaica; and the michelada mix was good. Wasn't expecting a Salvadoran restaurant to offer up a good michi. Cash and credit are both accepted. Menu has food photos, so no worries about any language barrier. Food comes out hot and fast. For those commenting on it being a rough neighborhood ... how so? It's a predominantly Latino neighborhood. Not sure how that translates into "rough." Expand your life experiences already..."
"Warm, fluffy, DELICIOUS pupusas...FINALLY! Luck was on my side and I'm so happy we found this wonderful little Pupuseria. The owner was super sweet and the service was very friendly. These pupusas were all delicious! I ordered a variety to go: Revuelta, Chicken, Squash, Bean, Loroco and my family gobbled them up! $1.95 each. The Curtido had a hint of spice and the tangy dressing was the cherry on top. Perfect picnic or boat food, or sit in front of the TV food! I promise you they're the absolute best pupusas. I will be back!"
"Love this place! The owner is so nice. He makes you feel like you are in moms kitchen chatting it up while she cooks. I've been here twice and had their breakfast. I forgot what it's called but it was so so good. And I had a cheese pupusa. That was good as well. This is my new Salvadoran spot as it's only a 5 minute drive from my house. Highly recommend!"
"I ordered 3 fajita tacos and they were really good. I was not expecting the handmade corn tortilla, but surely made the difference. "
"Today is Saturday and we decided to try this Salvadoran restaurant about 12:30. We were not disappointed. There was only two sets of people eating. As we ate several more family came in. I wanted to try a few things! I started off with a Horchata which was yummy and thicker than normal, Not too sweet. They didn't strain the ingredients but I really liked it the way they served it. I had a chicken tamale, it was delicious and full of chicken, and masa was delicate and soft. I also got a jalapeño, chicken, and cheese pupusa, this was cheesy and full of flavor and soft. My main meal was Chilaqulies with beef fajita. The rice was delicious. It was full of flavor, soft, and fluffy; not mushy. The chilaquiles are different than Mexican chilaquiles. It's three empanada shaped pupusas with cheese and a mild tomato salsa over them. They were cheesy, softy, and delicious. You get two eggs with the meal. I'm not a sunny side up egg person. I opted for over hard eggs. Let me tell you these were the best over hard eggs I've ever had. The yolk was soft and not dry. The fajita was well seasoned. We will be back to eat here again!"
"The best place to get your salvo cravings! Pan con pollo is chefs kiss! Pupusas are thick and cheesy definitely recommend this place. Food comes out on time."
"This place is amazing! The pupusas are delicious, as all pupusas are, and so having them in buffet form is the best idea I've heard of in a long time. The place is very small and casual, and prices are good. The people who work there are nice and friendly. Knowing a little Spanish will help you to order, but if you don't speak Spanish and the person working there doesn't speak English, gesturing to the buffet will probably get your point across. If you are Salvadoran, you will not be disappointed in this place either. One evening, I had a last minute need to pick up food to feed 10 of my friends. About half of them were from El Salvador. I stopped by this place, and they got my huge order together in less than 15 minutes, including pupusas with cream and beans. Everyone thought the food was excellent. So there you go: Salvadoran-approved pupusas in buffet form. You can't go wrong!"
"First time trying Lazo's and I was very happy I did. This location is very close to work so that is a win. I've had the bean and cheese pupusas on two different occasions and they were delicious. The pupusas come with curtido and salsa and its so good! Each time they were very warm and super fresh. I went once to pickup the order and the customer service was great. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for some delicious pupusas. Great price, friendly staff, good food."
"We enjoyed our first visit and we're already planning the next. The carne asada plate with rice and refried beans and pico de gallo and a fiery hot grilled jalapeno, the plate came with two of the best tortillas i've ever had. My wife got one chicken tamale, it melted in our mouths. Next visit i'll try some pupusas and maybe breakfast."
"I was heading to Subway for lunch when, lo and behold, right next door was a new restaurant! A pupuseria! Clean and spacious, I walked in and asked for the menu which was full of delicious looking items. Including a traditional Salvadoran breakfast. I ordered [in Spanish - in case that makes place feel more authentic like it does for some] a combo with two pupusas, a tamal, plaintains, and beans & cream. My total was ~$10 which seemed very fair for the amount of food. Delicious and I'll be back for lunch soon."
"Overall, this is a good pupuseria! The service was good, the pupusas were solid, the prices were reasonable and the agua fresca was delicious!I only had two minor complaints about the entire experience. First, the chicken and cheese pupusa I got had very little chicken. I am used to shredded chicken applied evenly, whereas these were larger chunks spread out. The taste was still great, but it wasn't what I was expecting. The other thing is very minor and only applies if you are planning to order a bunch for later. I have had some great pupusas that tasted just as good cold as they did hot, but these don't keep. Not a big deal, just don't over order or let them sit too long. The texture is unpleasant when that happens. This was our first visit to this location. We were headed into Houston and already hungry. We stopped in here because it was convenient off 249 and not far from our destination. We were placing a to go order for nine pupusas to bring to some family members. It took a few minutes to be noticed and helped, but kudos to the girl who helped us. She clearly didn't notice us, because she was startled to see us and very apologetic. She then gave us a menu to look through and gave us a run down of a few items. She was very helpful. The prices are great in my opinion and match up to the portion. The queso pupusas are $1.99 each and the others we got with meat were $2.50. We ordered three each of beef, chicken and queso. We then added on some drinks when we were told the wait time was 20 minutes. My husband got a Tamarind Jarrito and I got a cantaloupe agua fresca. The total with tax was $26.65.The wait time didn't bother me as this place has 18 tables of various sizes and they were more than half full. The entire staff was hustling and they were kept very busy with all the tables and other to go orders. I think they did a solid job. They offered quite the variety of agua fresca's and I was thrilled to taste these were freshly made in house! The cantaloupe was delicious and there was plenty of the fruit right in the cup!! I really recommend this, or any of their other flavors. It was naturally sweet and refreshing. The food was made by the same person who took our order and it was ready in about 20 minutes. It smelled amazing! The pupusas were a hit with the family. Their cheese was very savory and had depths of flavor- it really hit the spot! There are a few items to note. Parking out front fills up quick! Luckily there is more parking in the back, so check that out before you decide to go elsewhere. They seem to accept most forms of payment, but not checks or American Express. They also have a case where they sell pastries!I was really satisfied with this experience overall and I'm glad we stopped in. I definitely wouldn't mind checking out more of their offerings the next time we are in town."
"I've been waiting for this Gloria's location to open for months. I was desperately craving their complimentary bean dip (which I would love the recipe for Gloria's ) Our service was attentive and quick, the ambience is so good! Beautiful interiors and the music was at just the right volume. The food was great. We ordered the snapper tacos, mariscada, trio ceviche, and chicken tacos. The churros we ordered for dessert were the only thing that didn't land well. The ice cream came to the table already melted and the churros themselves were extremely doughy on the inside. If those two things can be fixed, it would have been a perfect meal. Can't wait to return. Sadly this location will not have the live music or salsa dancing :( I'm sure due to some weird Woodlands regulations."
"So sad not to able to try your food!On a Friday night at 9:42pm I called to place my todo order the lady on the phone said to me We can't take order now because we closed at 10:00. We'll but is 9:42 I said. She said we are cleaning already so is to late to take take your order . I told her is fine thanks. My concern is if you don't take orders after 9:42 just call google and ask them to change your business hour otherwise client are going to keep calling you. At the same I'm happy to not being able to try your food after I see your photos reviews I see some one complaints about finding a cucaracha in your food. That's not good at all. After looking for another place to order my dinner I found antojitos salvadoreños 12 min away from my location I call in at 9:48pm they took my order very happy and friendly staff and they also closed at 10:00 I dot arrive to the place at 10:00 exactly and my food was ready. That's the way to go. Good service and loyalty. They also turn off the sign 1min after I walked in Please excuse my bad typing Check the cucaracha photo"
"This place gave me regular diner vibes but surprised me with the food taste. It was so good and reminded me of home. The sampler dishes were perfect for me to take my friends and try a bit of the Salvadoran food I grew up eating. The service is always great. Refreshing to say the least I have had bad experiences in other states and so far they exemplify Texan hospitality. I would highly recommend for you to try it, coming from a picky curtido and pupusa snob!"
