Mel S. "Amazing dishing and such helpful servers. The volcano roll is enormous and they light the mayonnaise on fire at your table on this roll. The crazy salmon roll spectacular the fish is super fresh the cream cheese definitely adds a nice touch to this item on the menu. The monkey brain outstanding! The spicy salmon on one side the avocado on the other side rolled up and fried with excellent sauces I believe in eel sauce and some other kind of sauce all over the top superb! And it's humongous just like all of the other roles definitely enough to share. The salmon dinner comes with sauteed vegetables and rice and soup and salad. After the rolls I couldn't even eat this part of the meal but the salmon was cooked nicely the vegetables were crispy and excellent the soup was a bit watered down as well as the dressing on the salad. The yellowtail sushi was exquisite there wasabi is not on the hot side so definitely get extra if you want to spice things up a little bit.Overall this place is an adorable small sushi spot tucked in the corner of the big shopping center you will enjoy if you have to wait a while to be seated the food is very much worth it enjoy"

My wife and I ended up here on our anniversary after killens steak house was closed due to lack of electricity during the wind storms. We splurged and ordered appetizers, "sushi" not raw, and the hibachi platter that serves two or more, it came with lobster tails, scallops, steak, shrimp, the whole shabang. Probably not usually nice enough for anniversary dinner, but don't regret it at all. I do recommend they dim the lights for dinner. Great service, great food, fair prices."

Have The a cowboy roll for beef on your sushi and something different. Creamy Rock Shrimp is the best appetizer. Generous portions and cuts of Sushi for Nigiri or Sashimi style. You won't be disappointed."

Jessica O. "We've been here quite a few times now but this weekend was the best experience we've had. Our server, Melanie, was very friendly and welcoming. Merry began with calamari that was very crisp, tender and a little spicy. The kids had miso soup and Philadelphia rolls. Both were tasty and fresh. My 8 year old called his roll perfect. They also tried a Japanese soda that was new to us; it was fun and tasty for them. My husband had The Crazy Irishman roll and it was SO good. As someone who doesn't generally even like fried oysters, I'd order it myself! (Fried oysters being a main ingredient) I tried the In the Navy roll. I stepped outside my normAnd tried this roll that has 2 types of fish on top. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was amazing. It was so fresh with a great balance of flavors. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The people are friendly and the food is great!"

Lunch hibachi specials start at $7.99, 7 days a week Was told by waitress today that in December lunch special prices will be available all day/night. Great time to try it. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is they do a few things at lunch to save $, like no bowls for fried rice and had to ask for ginger sauce."

Canny F. "Maybe it's because I ordered take out and had it 30-45 minutes afterwards. I was thrown off by the boxed used for take out as in used to seeing sushi to go boxes - flat and clear lids. This was not environmentally friendly but anyways to move into the food. The rice to filling ratio was off. There should be less rice. The rice itself was overcooked with too much water resulting in a mushy taste. The eel sauce wasn't too die for per usual. The salmon was funky. I can't explain why. It had such an off taste. My sushi craving was not fulfilled. I guess this is another reason to fly back to Japan for another round of fish. With that being said, I understand it's hard to compare my frequent sushi adventures in Japan to a sushi shop in the US but I found some really good local not fancy sushi shops in all neighborhoods of nyc so it's doable. Unfortunately, I really do hate to write bad reviews because I am a big supporter of mom and pop shops but I finally decided to give sushi a shot in Texas and had a disappointing experience.Glad to know others had a better experience."

Ethan T. "With the recent cold front, my girlfriend and I were really craving a warm bowl of soup. She mentioned wanting to go to Ishin and I had never had authentic Udon so we decided to head over for dinner. There are a lot of good-looking, busy restaurants in this strip so it was a little challenging to find parking, but we eventually found a spot far down from the door. The lighting, decor, and overall ambiance of the restaurant were overall very warm and cozy. It seemed relatively busy and while the place was relatively full we were seated immediately and the wait staff were very friendly throughout our time there.Since this was my first time having udon, it took me a second to look through the menu because everything looked and sounded amazing. Eventually, we decided to start off with the takoyaki which came out hot and was delicious. The filling had the perfect ratio of octopus to sauce. Next, we ordered our main courses, she had the sukiyaki udon and I had the kitsune udon but I wanted some sort of meat so I got a side order of chashu. The broth in both of the soups was incredibly flavorful and rich and just what we were looking for. We finished the meal off with the banana tempura which was the perfect way to end the the meal.Even though this was my first time trying Udon Ishin made a very good first impression on me and although it seems very authentic I think the menu, staff, and atmosphere make this a very approachable spot for anyone to try. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Ishin and I am excited to return and try a few more of their dishes in the near future!"

We received top tier service, and will continue to request him as our server as long as he works here. The food was delicious. Fish was fresh and high quality, and the hot dishes hit the spot. Everything was great except for the Foie Gras. Instead of being paired with a berry compote, it was served on toast with peanut butter and oh man... talk about about let down. The consistency of the peanut butter ruins it, and there's nothing to cut the heaviness of the Foie Gras and the PB. I had bragged to my family that it was the most delicious dish on the menu, and after we tried it I received side-eye. Quite frankly, I was devastated. I grieve the loss of the star dish I had many times before. I hope that the seasonal pairings get better next time."

David N. "My recent food obsession has been omakase sushi. So hopefully you'll continue seeing more reviews around town.My wife and I are finally at a point where we feel comfortable leaving the twins at home and having periodic date nights. On this particular night we ended up at Aiko. They advertise their omakase for happy hour with a $10 discount at $45 per person. We sat at a table instead of the bar, so we did not get a chance to interact with the chefs, I do miss that aspect of omakase. So I'll state that yes it is chefs choice but it's more of a combo, comes with certain pieces but it comes out all at once and with not much discretion besides what is on the sheet. However, my wife and I don't mind as we really do most of our judgement via the actual taste. This omakase was solid value but we really only got exposed to one new fish that we wouldn't normally order, the Masu/ocean trout. This was delicious! And I will continue looking for this at other restaurants. We ordered additional items from both their happy hour menu and their normal menu since the omakase is smaller than other places. I did notice that they did offer Engawa on a limited basis, sadly they were out on this particular night. We added on fatty tuna, uni, and froi gras. The froi gras was one of the best pieces I have had at any restaurant and I can't wait to come back just for that alone! The service was very attentive and the pieces came out at a good pace. I didn't feel overwhelmed but I was not waiting around."

The interior has been redone and the Kitsune (trickster fox in Japanese lore) is predominately featured. No tricks here though! The very filling bento boxes come with soup, dumplings, rice, California roll, and a choice of meat/seafood/vegetable teriyaki. Wine and beer is reasonably priced. They have recently added an "all you can eat" option for lunch or dinner (to be checked out in the future)."

I was in the midtown area and was advised by a friend to check it out so we got here at around 8:30 on a Wednesday. The parking lot is small and they do have valet but they work for tips so that wasn't too bad. We walked in, got seated immediately in the back corner (at my request). The restaurant had lambent lighting which was perfect and the atmosphere was just right. Our waiter came over and provided us with a vegan/vegetarian menu. We got several bites for the table such as the lightly Battered Served w/Tentsuyu and vegetable tempura as an appetizer, Chili Yasai and Kinoko Truffle for our rolls. Everything was fresh and came out relatively timely with the exception of the Chili Yasai. That took a while to come to the table. Everything was good, and the desserts topped it off for me. The passionfruit tart is a must have!!! I enjoyed the experience and our waiter was excellent. Shoutout to him for also pronouncing my last name right upon first try :)"

Yaniv B. "Absolutely wonderful experience at my first time at Go Shabu! We ate there for lunch, I think it was about $15 a person which given the quality and quantity of food options I'm not sure how its possible! The service was friendly, waiter was extremely informative and patient with my inexperience, and we had a absolutely delicious experience. I got a small amount of everything I wanted to try and almost couldn't finish it, much less think about getting seconds. It's so easy to oversubscribe to food selections, I understand their "waste surcharge" or whatever they called it if you took much more than you eat. I somehow forgot to get a picture of the buffet but it was gorgeous! SO MANY food options, noodles, vegetables, seafood, just over abundance and it all seemed fresh, clean ,etc. no part of me was skeptical about food safety, and as I've gotten older I tend to look at that more :)As far as meats, they let you pick 3, you can see it in the bottom of my photo, there are three stacked plates. They are shaved super thin and at first don't seem like much food but if you finish it they'll refill them per request. They seem very generous, its just about not wasting massive amounts of food. We honestly almost forgot about the meats given how many other foods we got, and how delicious they were!"

From the menus to the outdoor patio section. So I expected to pay a pretty buck eating here. But then I looked in the menu, and they actually have an all you can eat for $30 a person! I was shocked, but also very excited. I am a sushi fiend so I love to try different specialties rolls. each roll we got was pretty good. I would say skip the hibachi. I ended up getting chicken hibachi they give you so much but it's not it's not that flavorful and it's à la cart so the noodles/rice you have to order separately ( but it is still included in the Buffet) My favorite part was our "waiter" they give you a little robot to serve you your food. I ordered to go, but arriving here, the place appeared to be very nice. I can bring the wife here, she eats Sushi. Why three stars, it just needed a little extra attention to detail to the food. I ordered Egg Rolls, Egg Drop Soup, and Orange chicken. The egg rolls, average, maybe average plus. Nothing noteworthy. I do not know if they were bought from a supplier or made at the store. Well made egg rolls made by the restaurant are obvious. The egg drop soup was very good. The amount in the to go container was very nice. However, I like crunchy noodles with my soup and the amount of noodles was to small. They were also stale. The orange chicken was a 'signature' dish. I thought orange chicken was supposed to be spicy by default. It was not. The serving size could also have been larger. It was generally good, but after I ate my meal, I felt less than satisfied.
