"Thank you the boudin was a hit at the bbq...beef, chicken and especially the spicy pork, just enuff heat. Service was great and prices just as well."
"Wait a minute...wait wait wait! I was in the area and I wanted to make turkey wings for my Sunday dinner and decided to stop at Bud's House of Meat. I switched to my tunnel vision eyeglasses because they offer more than raw meat, they offer BBQ dinners, sandwiches and baked potatoes. They remodeled the parking lot which was desperately needed, I was able to find Ebony (my ride) a nice parking spot without being to close to others where she could possibly be nick n ninged by others accidentally by other car doors. I really appreciated the fact that Bud's took that into consideration especially by their establishment being in the hood and baebaaa a Set it Off moment could happen quickly. Dang, I had to potty first and low and behold I was directed to the BBQ take out direction. Ok I go past holding my nose and determined not to look anywhere but for the restroom doors. Took care of my business and B lined it to grab a number for service. As I was B lining it, a little old lady stopped me and asked if I would hold her place in line because the takeout dinner line was long but not going quit as fast for her because she had to go to the restroom. I lied and told the lady I had an impatient husband and he was waiting on me, see if I obliged her I would have ordered me a 3 meat dinner, 3 sides and desert to go and cool aid. NOPE get behind me calories stop trying to trick me cause ya girl not falling for it! Not even for a sweet frail looking ole lady. I pull my number and 2 seconds later with all the people waiting my number was called. Ok ok, I got this so I proceeded to ask for the turkey wings, lawd have mercy "dem" turkey wing was huuuge. The guy started taking me too fast holding up several for my choice, asking me how I was going to cook them, asking me if I wanted them cut, how I wanted them cut, he cut up one asking me what size, how many I wanted, how many pounds? Defensively all I could say was "Ummmm, huu ummm welll, umm, wat I don't know, why u cut that now I have to buy it" He said no baby girl, I was just giving you an idea. So he digs at the bottom, moves some around and said how you like this one, I woman up and said yeah give me 2 like that and cut them up and there he goes again asking what size. Choices, options and decisions...I like it I like it in my Micky voice. And there it all began, I was in luv. I got summer sausage, pork chops, ground meat, turkey wings, hot boudin, spicy pork pan sausage, beef pan sausage and ham hocks. By the time I snapped outta my trance, I realized I didn't have a basket. The guy said, I'll take it up to the register for you. At the register, there I go adding some old fashion cookies to my purchases, I look up and ALL that for under $25. I'm standing there looking at my total, the cashier waiting looking at me, the meat man still smiling at me...I'm looking dumb founded because I was too afraid to ask did she charge me for everything before I hurry up and pay, dash out before she realizes she didn't ring up everything. I was honest I said, is that everything she smile and said yes.,.shoots so I add 2 more cookies packs to my bags. I pay went to grab my bag so I can skip happily with my meat to my truck. Mr. Meat guy says no ma'am, I'll take it for you. Waaaaaa, great prices, over the top customer service AND they take you bags to your car!! Hahahaheeehee! Now that's what I call GETTING A BANG for my buck!"
"Awesome butcher shop. I'm so happy I found this place. Bone marrow is so hard to find, but they have it here! And great quality. I love that they can cut it anyway you desire and the pieces had quite a bit of marrow on them. I'll definitely be back to try more!"
"Jerusalem Halal Meats is one of the oldest halal markets in Houston and where so many of my childhood memories begin. If you follow a halal diet and are adventurous in your kitchen at home, then this place is a staple in your repertoire of ingredient sources. For those not in the know, when compared to other stores like HEB or Krogers, Jerusalem is an unorganized mess. The aisles are narrow and the shelves are filled high to the sky. Yes, there are signs letting you know what's generally in the aisles; however, they're more like suggestions. There's a small produce section next to the olive and oil aisle. Yes, a full aisle dedicated to deliciousness. And trust me when I say to peruse the produce section. It's small but has random fruits and veggies like sweet lemon. Yes, that's a thing. No, they don't taste like oranges. The chaotic good continues with aisles that are only open on one end- like their beauty products. An assortment of soaps and lotions towards the front. Head to the back and you think there are going to be more products, but surprise! It's a small prayer hall set up with prayer mats facing Mecca. Then there's a restaurant in the back right corner. Get the chicken shawarma with everything on it, thank me later. The crown jewel of this establishment is the deli in the back. Their meat is delivered three days a week, so you're getting the freshest product sans going to a farm. It's clean and the workers typically fill your order quickly. Bring a sweater, because it's frigid in there. Just outside the deli are a couple of freezers with prepackaged meats that people typically order- think different ground meats, chicken breasts, and the like. They also have products like pepperoni, salami, and bacon. I haven't seen some of these products in the other halal markets in town **major disclaimer** none of the workers on the floor or in the deli are super fluent in English. The guys in the back who butcher the meat understand enough to fill your order, just don't expect a lot of small talk. They even know what cuts you need for certain South Asian dishes like Nihari. Head to the front counter if you can't find something. This is a family owned and operated establishment and they're all great about telling you where everything is and when it'll be in if they're out. If you have some spare time and want to try some new ingredients or aren't sure where to get a certain middle eastern ingredient, try Jerusalem. You never know what will inspire you there."

Meh, good fried chicken. Greens were cooked way too long and were mushy.

I been going to this meat market for years. Never got a chance to review it. The parking lot is usually a pain when they are busy. Once you walk in don't forget to get a number from the post in the middle of the main area. They have different specials that you can choose from or you can get things separately. We usually get turkey wings and chicken wings every time we go. The turkey wings are usually a nice big size. The last time they were not that big but they were decent. The bbq is not available on Mondays. I always forget this. The service to get your meat is a quick experience. Once you get your selection of you have a few items the employee that helped you will bring your items to the check out counter for you. Most will offer to bring your items to the car.

The best meat in town! Always fresh, great marbling, and ooooh the flavor. The guys are super helpful and great to get to know. They also have Salmon which is fresh and not farmed. I've gone to HEB, Costco, Randals and all their meat is bland.

With a recommendation, we walked in, and for a second, we were so happy to see a big store fully loaded with all kinds of groceries. Still, as soon we walked towards the aisle, we saw employees, customers, and half of the people were not wearing a mask, and there were few of them kind of holding a show on their necks and mouths, they decided not to cover the nose. I can't believe it when we all know Texas has a maximum number of coronavirus victims. These people chose to kill themselves and others and pretending nothing is going on.We left right away, disappointed, and shocked. Please be careful if you have to go there or just avoided for a few months.

GREAT food if you go to the little cafe in the back! The garlic naan was super delicious. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, and tried the samosas. Everything was tasty and fresh. We wish there was more seating but we had plenty since it was a slower day. We will be back. Dine in or take out, I highly recommend both. Check out their daily specials if you want to save some change, I wish we did that prior to us ordering but know for next time.

I have never been so impressed by a Gyro with Halal meat before!! Not only is their food tasty, it is also inexpensive.I ordered a Gyro with French fries. The meat, the onions, the tomatoes, the lettuce, and the sauce were SO amazing! All the vegetables were crisp and fresh; the meat was not salty at all! I loved the flavor and left the diner completely satisfied. The service is awesome! You are always helped whenever you need it. This is a restaurant and grocery store duo and it is SO YUMMY!! Definitely swing by!! It is a win-win-win.

"When writing reviews I try to take three factors into consideration. These are, Location, Price, and Food quality. In order to provide readers with a fair balanced review of an establishment I try to balance these three things. The Gonzales Food Market is in the historic district of downtown Gonzales, and one look around will tell you that the aim of this place is to preserve the old fashion historic feel and ambiance. The Gonzales Food Market holds true to this genre. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you have stepped back in time a few decades to a simpler time. We arrived just a half hour before closing, but they still had plenty of food ready to go, even though there were not many people left in the restaurant. The staff was polite and it seemed as though they were tired from a long hard day, which is to be expected at that time. We were served promptly and found a table in the back to sit down at. I was surprised at the low price we paid for Texas BBQ, which tends to run on the pricy side. The food was good for the price and we got plenty to eat. I got the half Chicken plate and my wife got the Lamb ribs and Brisket plate. Everything was good except for the lamb ribs were nothing but pure fat with no sign of any meat. It may have been the time of the day and this was all that was left, but it was what it was.Aside from the lamb ribs, the place could use some maintenance and brightening up. It is one thing to keep the rustic historic feel, but it does not mean that things need to look run down to achieve that. With a little spit and polish and some good lighting, this place could feel a lot warmer. While the food is decent for the price, the general feel of the place does not incite the feelings of wanting to go back. I probably will, but I am saying this for the owner's sake to give them some advice on how they can improve this business.Bottom Line: I think the Gonzales Food Market is a good place for some reasonably priced Texas BBQ. It seems like a nice little family-run business and I wish them the best."
"I always will Drive Pass Masala pantry most of the time . I finally decided to try them out and I was pleased! Available parking options . Well organized store . Nice price. You do not have to drive far off into town to get some Indian food no more . Customer service is great . I love the samosas! I believe it's buy one get one free!"
"Wait...this is a grocery store with a kitchen area inside! Really wait, this is a meat market as well! I actually watched them cut up the meat that they are packaging in the store. They say that their chicken is grass fed and raised with no extra stuff in it, so I am looking forward to trying a chicken product from them. The place is surprisingly big inside and offer a huge variety of imported items. There are samples available throughout the store & a wide variety of items to serve, presumably, the Middle Eastern tummy! Plenty of imported goods are through the store which included drinks with Arabic writing on them. They sell mixed olives by the pound, which I saw several people excited about that. They also sell baklava and other types of candies that are common in the Middle East. I saw different types of imported lentils, rice and other goods that must be a true taste of home for those from that region.I am sure no one wants to here about that stuff though. I was really in the mood for a gyro, so I ordered a reasonably priced gyro with fries. Before I left with my to-go order, I was given a sample of hummus. This is the second best hummus that I have tasted. Read past reviews to see who I think is the first! Fries were fried well and seasoned well. They only gave me a slight handful, but I will not trip on that. The gyro itself had pretty presentation...was put together well...looked tasty...however you choose to say that it looked as though it should taste good! It was a good size, so I knew I would be content after eating it. The produce on the gyro was fresh and you could tell that my gyro was freshly made. I am not certain if the meat itself was seasoned to awesomeness, but I know the sauce they gave me to put on the gyro was yum mixed with I wished I had more of it! I enjoyed every bite of my gyro, and made sure to wipe the inside of the sauce container with my last bite of gyro. From the previous reviews, I need to try a chicken shawarwma (Not sure if that is spelled correctly) as well. I am looking forward to giving this business another try at impressing me. They are off to a good start."
"They offer groceries, full service butcher and a small attached restaurant where you can dine-in and/or take out. I mostly go there for their butcher shop. So, my review is only for their full service halal butcher shop. They have mutton, lamb, beef, chicken etc. They have good quality meat at a decent rate. They have packed meats at the racks. I usually enter the butcher shop and request them according to my liking. For mutton, I ask them either a shoulder or a leg piece and request them to cut into small cubes. They are not very good at English but they have so far fulfilled my request. They are good at their job. They also have packed whole chicken cut into cubes. I don't really shop here for their groceries nor have tried their restaurant yet. However, for their meat and butcher service I'd give them a 5/5."
