I also always get the same three things, the lo mein, curry chicken, and Mac and cheese. My favorite combo lol. Their selection has gone down over the years for sure, though, but my same three choices remain, so I still love it."

Mark F. "This is southern comfort food at its very best. We took a quick day trip from Austin to Giddings to do some business there and planned it around lunch time so we could try out a local restaurant. We were enthusiastically greeted when we walked in the door and were told that we could have a seat wherever you wanted and the young lady took our drink orders and asked us to just go ahead and go over to the buffet where we would be served. There were quite a few entree choices and side choices but the gist of it is that you get an entree with two sides and a roll or cornbread. All for under 10 bucks. I had the smothered steak with onions and it was absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very good as well. The waitstaff were very attentive and kept checking up on us to see if we needed anything else. The restaurant was clean, bathrooms were clean, and all the staff that we interacted with were very friendly, helpful and seemed to actually like their job. Some past reviews might be a little too uppity because the food is true comfort food but it has a very good taste and the portions are very very decent for the amount you pay. You want to pay $30 for a plate of food that is cooked by a "chef" then go to the big city and throw your money away if you want to. The next time we're in Giddings we're definitely going to stop here again."

Oriental Gourmet

★★☆☆☆ 2.2 (37)

DeHorne S. "I've been to numerous buffets during my time, and Oriental Gourmet definitely scrapes the bottom of the barrel of any restaurant measure criteria. I'm confident that at any city kitchen inspection or evaluation, Oriental Gourmet edges by with the minimum passable score. Chinese buffets aren't known for being upscale, but Oriental Gourmet really perpetuates that stereotype. However, at $7.95, you really don't expect too much.Walking into the restaurant, you'll feel the tinge of muggy air caress your skin. Beware this is a hallmark of a cheap owner, not willing to lower the air condition because of higher electric bills. Covid-19 preventions are still in place as annoying as it is, most everyone follows it. They require you to use plastic glove to use their tongs. Personally, I believe this is unnecessary, but whatever. As the pricing suggests, the buffet itself is underwhelming compared to other buffets such as V-star (Walking distance away). You'll get your typical sweet sour chicken, General Tso, french fries, fried rice, lo mein, assorted soups and a field of fried stuff. However, this is where my panties got jumbled. They have a section for sushi, but they have a sign up saying they're not serving sushi due to Covid-19. This is bullsh*t. They're not serving sushi because its on the higher end of food costs and more expensive to serve. If it really was due to covid, then the entire place needs to shut down. They're just using covid as a reason to not do sushi. I am Asian, so I know all the reasons and BS we point our fingers at to cut costs. Bathroom has a urine/bleach smell and the waitresses are mainlanders that try to speak English, but end up speaking a verbose rendition of a southern twang mix of Chinglish (Again, I am ethnically Chinese) and I notice these things. Look, if the $7.95 pricing point doesn't foreshadow the kind of food you're gonna get, then you're an idiot. I would save up an extra $3.00 and go visit V-star down the road for a MUCH BETTER experience and Sushi!"

Jazmin T. "I was super excited to try this place, the food looked so good online, so I grabbed a few coworkers and off we went! When we got here, it smelled so yummy inside and I loved how bright everything was. The waitress was so sweet and nice, and very attentive. Now the food, we ordered the chorizo fondue for the table, flavor wise, was just ok. It wasn't super melty, so it was really hard to get out of the bowl, and it only came with 3 tortillas, there was 4 of us! So we ate the rest with the chips. The chorizo was good and came with pico to top, but it just needed more seasoning overall for the whole dish. Then I ordered some tacos. The menu looked like they'd be street sized, small, so I asked if I could order 3 and she said yes. I order 2 fajita steak and 1 barbacoa. She said the barbacoa was her fave and I can see why. This is the only one that was truly flavored the best, was super juicy and tender and melted with each bite. The fajita steak was overcooked and lacked flavor as well. I like the onions, cilantro and lime on mine, but it didn't enhance the flavor at all. I love little places like this, so I'd like to give it another try and try something different. Only other thing as a takeaway is that you're charged for chips and salsa, and the one additional taco I ordered was $9. $5.99 for a sing le taco and +$3.99 to make it barbacoa. The one taco was more than the two, so pretty pricey in my opinion."

Buffet looked OK, but we were happy with our decision to order off the menu instead. I got the wiener schnitzel, a magnificently large pork cutlet pounded thin and fried to a golden brown. Go all-out German and choose the German potatoes to go with the included red cabbage. My companion got the liver and onions - also a tremendous portion and full of livery flavor. Both meals included a trip to the salad bar, where I didn't pass up an opportunity to grab a hunk of the Colby. Apparently they have pie by the slice too, but we were too stuffed to think about it. Convenient to I-10 if you're traveling and want a break from the chain restaurants."

We ate there for lunch, I think it was about $15 a person which given the quality and quantity of food options I'm not sure how its possible! The service was friendly, waiter was extremely informative and patient with my inexperience, and we had a absolutely delicious experience. I got a small amount of everything I wanted to try and almost couldn't finish it, much less think about getting seconds. It's so easy to oversubscribe to food selections, I understand their "waste surcharge" or whatever they called it if you took much more than you eat. I somehow forgot to get a picture of the buffet but it was gorgeous! SO MANY food options, noodles, vegetables, seafood, just over abundance and it all seemed fresh, clean ,etc. no part of me was skeptical about food safety, and as I've gotten older I tend to look at that more :)As far as meats, they let you pick 3, you can see it in the bottom of my photo, there are three stacked plates. They are shaved super thin and at first don't seem like much food but if you finish it they'll refill them per request. They seem very generous, its just about not wasting massive amounts of food. We honestly almost forgot about the meats given how many other foods we got, and how delicious they were!"

Staff were helpful, though they were visibly overwhelmed with our large group and the usual busy Sunday crowd. I only came here because Mike Chen (aka, Strictly Dumpling) had a video about them on Youtube. I don't really know what I was eating, but the caldereta was really good, especially with rice. Besides hot foods, they also had orange slices and some desserts. This seemed like a small family-owned business. There weren't too many customers. It made me feel like the food just sits there and doesn't get replaced for fresh batches. There were so many signs about them charging for leftovers. They really don't want to waste food! I asked them if there was a difference between lunch and dinner, but there wasn't. I think lunch is just cheaper. There was plenty of parking. Bathroom is available. They have the usual fare that you expect from an Indian buffet but what really impressed me is the fact that they had an assortment of salads, chutneys, and pakoras. There was also a large variety of chicken and a goat curry dish. Several types of rice available including biryani. Most surprising was the Indo-Chinese food that they had. I went with a group after a bus tour around Hilcroft Gandhi Shopping District. The cleanliness however was a concern. I saw a critter crawling across the floor as I was about to sit down. As I poured a drink into the foam cups, I started to feel the leak on my hand. Holy sh... I grabbed another cup to catch the drip. The tables were not the cleanest. I guess they got so many leaky cups. Customers seemed to enjoy this place. It's a buffet. It was Saturday. The food seemed plentiful on the buffet line. I sampled few dishes and went back for more of what I liked. I couldn't tell which was which because the labels were moved. I just wish Mezban was more organized and cleaned to my usual restaurant dining expectations."

It is also a great spot for those of us who work at the hospital to grab a meal before or after work. I can only speak on the breakfast as some of us partook after our shift one day. Most of us had the breakfast buffet and it was absolutely delicious. They can make your eggs made to order so most of us had omelettes. They also made us very tasty waffles made to order. All the typical sides and breakfast accompaniments were great also. They are definitely a step above your typical breakfast buffet elsewhere. The service we received was what you would expect at a nice hotel establishment. If you come in the evening, they have a full bar as well. We got sat at a booth tucked in a far corner but looking around at all the seafood on nearby table's I was excited to begin my journey. in order: Sushi/sashimi start (these little aluminum trays...I am undecided on my feelings), make my way to the cold seafood (mussels, oysters, crablegs) then hot seafood (they have hot crablegs as well) and grilled meats. The pre-poured boba drinks were a nice touch, my favorites were just the teas - no milk. They have a fresh ramen station, soups and desserts but I didn't partake in any of these. Top dishes: - lamb chop, frog legs, oxtail stew, and the garlic lobster (when it's fresh) Honorable mentions: - grilled shrimp, shortrib and clams We found one lone stone crab claw in the crab legs at one point (tough to open with the crab cracker tbh, need to bring a hammer next time)"

But you're here for the meat so why fill up on that stuff??They have a wide range of meat selection such as brisket to Bulgogi to pork belly. They all came out in a reasonable amount of time. Knowing a little Spanish will help you to order, but if you don't speak Spanish and the person working there doesn't speak English, gesturing to the buffet will probably get your point across. If you are Salvadoran, you will not be disappointed in this place either. One evening, I had a last minute need to pick up food to feed 10 of my friends. About half of them were from El Salvador. Unlike the other sister spots, they've done a good job at modernizing what would otherwise be a very typical but solid buffet. There are parking spots aplenty and numerous seating options. The staff is robust and a diverse group of Spanish and Mandarin speakers, both young and older. The place looks rather grand upon entrance, especially considering the theme of the restaurant. As a result of how large and spacious everything is, the buffet in turn looks rather small. While it might feel small, the items that are there seem to be pretty good. Food is replenished quickly and the variety is mainly composed of the usual fried / stir fried American-Chinese classics. There is pizza, nuggets, and fries for the kiddos and basic palates. People who seek this stuff out will likely love their spread. Extra thumbs up for the nearly perfectly pan fried dumplings. My money is mainly on their sushi selection. On the weekends there is a solid variety of sushi rolls, nigiri, and a mix of sashimi, beautifully laid out. In most buffets, it's always poorly managed but the presentation seems on point. The quality is on par with an AYCE sushi spot, which is expected for a place like this. This is not my usual wheelhouse for food, but E-Star did a great job of managing my expectations. The best part? The weekend buffet price was only $17. The value, attentive service, abundant seating options, and solid food choices will likely have me back again."

I don't know what this place was before, but this place is massive not only in what size, but also for the selection they offer. Customer service was ok, mostly straight business with an occasional smile. Finished plates and empty drinks got taken care of quickly. Feast advertises as a Chinese, Japanese and Mexican buffet with a little American sprinkled in. Quite a mix of flavors and I kind of dig it. When I do get in the mood for buffets, it's because I want variety. I definitely get that here. We came when it opened, so everything was hot and fresh. The bad part about that was that the sushi was a tad bit too cold for my liking as I'm sure it's mass produced and taken out of the fridge as needed. That being said, the sushi actually tasted good.
