Houston TX Hot Chicken

Keith Lee was absolutely correct with this review. WOW. We , w/the Yelp intern, have done Dave's and all the others in SA they do not compare. Not even Dave's when it first opened was this good. Spicy is spicy peeps! My fav surprise was the Cilantro sauce, that replaced the honey I normally drizzle on the chicken. Fries fresh and crunchy. Low key star was the pickles...the intern normally hates pickles but these were truly kosher and tasty. The service was on point as well. Modern lighting and chill music created the best vibe.

I got the mild traditional hot chicken sandwich. Overall, the sandwich had a good balance of flavors. My husband got the same sandwich, but medium spicy. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the spice. The chicken was well seasoned and had a slight sweet taste to it. I didn't think the sweet flavor of it was overdone so I enjoyed it since it's different compared to other chicken sandwiches I've had. The slaw balanced out the sandwich to make it less heavy and there was a perfect amount of sauce. The fries were pretty good too and I definitely drowned each fry in the sauce they give you.

I love this place. Their chicken is so good. Perfectly spiced and juicy. It's not an artificial spice either, it's that good stuff.I got the loaded fries and they were yummy. The coleslaw adds a nice touch, and the chicken was amazing as always. The fries are the weak point, but the chicken makes up for it. They give so much food here, i took half of it home for leftovers too.The vibe of this place is pretty cool. It feels kinda bougie while still being a fast casual restaurant. The service is always good too, i never have any complaints. The food is usually out pretty quick.I'm looking forward to coming back here!

When a restaurant's name seems as basic as a mistyped website address, you'd be forgiven for having doubts. But after stumbling upon Houston Hot Chicken, I had to rethink my assumptions. Arriving around 6 pm on a weekday, I was pleasantly surprised to find it not too crowded, making it an ideal spot for a quick bite. With a glance at the menu, I had my heart set on the Original Chicken Sandwich - Spicy! That first bite was pure magic. It's rare to experience a dish that transcends the mere act of eating. The spices, ingredients, and craftsmanship were evident, standing out in Houston's competitive "Hot Chicken" scene. This review within a week of my visit is a testament to how much it moved me.The spice level was perfect, a tantalizing habanero-style heat that tantalized my taste buds without leaving my mouth in agony. So good was the food that I found myself returning with a colleague to introduce them to this culinary gem. I won't bore you with many more words, but I could literally feel the endorphins being created in my pituitary gland and hypothalamus. In other words, the spice was perfect, habanero style, It was a mouth-panting heat but not so hot that your mouth is suffering from a chemical burn; i mean if your a sadist like that, you can definitely sign the waiver and go all out Plus, remember to check in on Yelp for a free cookie! Houston Hot Chicken consistently exceeded my expectations. In a city teeming with hot chicken options, it had quietly carved its niche through flavor and quality.As I finished my meal, I couldn't help but reflect on this blessing,. The advertising, the website are all top-not and upon writing this review, I see that it has been building a reputation through word of mouth.So, if you're in Houston and craving some hot chicken, do yourself a favor and give Houston Hot Chicken a try. It might not be the trendiest spot in town, but it deserves recognition for its exceptional food. One bite, and you'll understand why it's become a local favorite.Time to update my Hot Chicken ranking!

Love this place. It was my go to down the street when we had our first newborn in the nearby hospital. All the food tastes amazing! Service is quick and easy. Ambiance is well done. Wife loves the waffles which are one of the best I've had. Highly recommended. Im getting cravings just writing this review.

Came here for a Thursday lunch, as I was craving a chicken sando! Initially found this place from a Yelp Elite week, and the first go round was super yummy, so the choice was easy when we were looking at places to go!We arrived during lunch rush hour, so parking lot was full, but there's plenty of places to park. Came in to a clean, and bright restaurant, love all the bold colors and paintings they have on the wall. Our wait wasn't long, and were greeted quickly by smiling staff. The lady who took our order was super patient as we navigated the menu with questions on spice level and drink options!I got the plain chicken sandwich combo, which comes with housemate pickles and no cole slaw and a side of fries with the strawberry hibiscus lemonade! Let me tell you, this sandwich is big, I could only eat half, and the portion of fries is quite large too, and seasoned deliciousously! We also got the original chicken sandwich combo which comes with the pickles and coleslaw and then an order of the strips, all of which looked delicious! They've got a great variety of specialty lemonades, which all taste yummy!Will definitely be coming back here, I saw someone with the fries, and they looked stacked and loaded, so that'll be the next order!!

I think Hot Chicken restaurants have kinda nailed down what they are all gonna look like at this point, and HTX is right in line with that style. Wood walls, fire murals, tv's, and a bar coming soon. The menu follows the mold here, there's the standard sandwich and tenders options and a choice of slaw and fries. Not sure if I'm meant to take the name as a statement of differentiation, but I'm not sure if there was anything that made this HOUSTON hot chicken as opposed to the regular Nashville Hot Chicken that's been popularized. The tenders were quite big, but the breading needed to be crunchier in my opinion. Would suggest more of a batter than a breading. Spice levels had a good range, they had maybe 6 or so I think as compared to the standard 5 many places go with. It helped find a good level for me. Interestingly they labeled their spice levels with Scoville units, never seen that before. They have a couple of different sauce flavors to choose from, but at an extra charge of a dollar, seems pretty steep. Asked for ranch, but was given their House Sauce. It was just a sugary Cane's sauce. Paired well with their fries which were awesome! Don't change a thing with those crinkle cuts. I liked that they had a selection of flavored lemonades, they come as the regular drink or iced, kinda like a slushy. They were WAY too sweet. Went with the Blueberry Lavender and liked the flavor, but the sweetness overpowered the drink. Some nice things here, but other spots are doing it better.

Sandwich comes with a chicken patty and pickles. The spice levels are no joke, so would not recommend getting TOO ambitious (unless you're trying to test your limits -- then go for it). I like to think I have a pretty good spice tolerance and the medium was just the right amount to enjoy my meal while getting a little kick. I tried a bit of Liftoff and it was definitely yummy for a couple bites but I would have started sweating if I tried to finish it. Fries were yummy and crispy. The sauce was my favorite part, it's delicious and on the sweeter side -- complemented the spice super well.

The huge modern painting is very attractive to me. It turns out it's painted and customized by an artist in person. Accompanied with the neon light and marble dim lighting, the chill vibe is all over. Couldn't expect anything better than this in a fried chicken place. The decor is absolutely a 5 stars. I tried spicy one which indeed is a bit spicy. lol, I love how they add mango in the food which adds fruity fresh flavor, making the perfect balance with the spicy chicken. A lot of other fried chicken are dry and greasy, but this is juicy and fresh. Also, this place is family friendly, I got a honey butter chicken tender for my kid. The service is great with prompt response
