Hotaka Ramen & Izakaya

I had dinner at Hotaka a month ago. They had only been open for about a week so I wasn't expecting a flawless dining experience. Our server Paul was really nice. If he didn't know an answer to a question about the menu, he would ask another employee.They have a small bar. I ordered a Dos Equis and it didn't even come with a lime wedge. I should have asked for lime and salt instead of assuming it would come with the beer.I started with an appetizer. I ordered the Okra with Bacon, but they brought out the Asparagus with Bacon instead. I love asparagus so I went ahead and ate it. It was very tasty, but the portion was tiny! It was basically one large spear of asparagus cut into 4 small pieces. Paul put in the order correctly, so it seems that the mistake was made in the kitchen. This tiny appetizer was $4.50 so it wasn't cheap. For my entrée, I ordered the Chashu Paitan Ramen (R7) without mushrooms. It took awhile to come out, but when it did, it was piping hot! Some of my table mates said their ramen wasn't very hot when it was served. The broth was flavorful and the pork was tender. I really enjoyed it. I'm not a ramen connoisseur by any means, but I really enjoyed the food. I want to come back to try some of the other menu items. I really do want to try the Okra and Bacon (even though it's pricey). Hopefully with time, some of the small mistakes will be corrected.

The appetizer was delicious! Takoyaki and the ribeye steak skewers was delicious!Parking was plenty, they offer outdoor dining. The service we got was good. The ramen needs work. Broth just wasn't up there. Lacking the flavor that screams I've been boiled for 18-24 hrs. Gotta keep it a buck because that will only help a business out. 4 stars to be fair.

It's nice to see all the ramen restaurants sprouting up around East Pearland. For a while, it seemed to be a ramen desert here and I'd have to drive a ways to fulfill my craving.The service at Hotaka is great. Our waiter, Paul was attentive and personable.My Tonkatsu Black - Garlic Lover (R8 on the menu), had pretty good flavor. I added bok choy, fish cakes, and wagyu. The ramen didn't have much broth, however. I would've liked a bit more. I thought maybe there was less broth since I added more toppings but my friend who ordered the same thing as me without added toppings also didn't have much broth. Adding more toppings shouldn't impact how much broth you get anyways. The temperature of the broth was a little above room temperature. Would've liked it hotter.The ambiance is nice and since the restaurant is fairly new it was very clean inside.I would return and appreciate the restaurant being close by.

Great atmosphere and service. The spicy ramen on a chilly day was delicious! Glad we stopped to try it the food. We will return.

This past weekend my boyfriend and decided we would stop in and try our local ramen shop. Upon arrival I noticed it was almost empty maybe 1-2 other tables were occupied on a Saturday... but better for us as we were in a hurry to have some dinner. Service was good and attentive. The food came out very quick! My boyfriend said his spicy tonkotsu was good and he would come back again. The basic tonkotsu was just okay in my opinion. I've had more favorable broths at other ramen establishments. My boyfriend really enjoyed his ribeye skewer but we both decided that we probably wouldn't order again it was between 3-4$ per skewer ... Overall I would recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for a ramen fix.

Came during happy hour. Lots of appetizers on special. Ramen was good size and plentiful. Service was good. Will come again for more sake bombs

So this is my second time visiting this place and I would say the service is okay. They're not busy at all but somehow my requests during my orders always get mixed up. The staff is generally kind though so that makes up for it. The good quality is fresh and the ambience is really chill. They usually have a nice movie playing on the TV and music at the same time but it's not too loud. Great restaurant. The service was amazing, our servers were very nice and helpful. We spilled a cup of water all over the table and they were very understanding and nice about it. The ambiance was also great. A nice calm spot to eat at. The ramen was good, nothing super amazing or special, but if you are just craving some, it's a safe bet. The yakitori skewers were so good though. Would definitely come back for them.

Hands down best ramen place ever! I get the spiciest one and add extra nori on the side!
