Visited again for take out. This time we bought for our neighbors who, too, have been looking for good Chinese. They LOVED it and have since gone back. Truly fresh vegetables. Just terrific food.

Dim sum this good in Durham is outrageous. This shouldn't happen. Why doesn't that exist in Charlotte?Thankfully during my weekly travels to the Durham area, I'm able to partake in all of the dim sum glory and a bit of the full menu as well. I've yet to take a bite I didn't like. I've got congee on the radar for my next visit. Service is speedy and the ambiance is early 80s. I'm lovin it...

Dim sum, my comfort food from my childhood, has always been my number one favorite meal. It's a cuisine I've always been deprived of while living in the South my whole life and only ate with my family in NYC during summer every year. We ate dim sum at least twice a week for 18 years of my life during summer. During the school year, I never had it because it was never found anywhere in the South. The Asian population was never heavy enough to have one, I suppose. Now, I have finally found one! I found a real authentic, push cart, dim sum restaurant located in North Carolina! I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked in the door. I felt overwhelmed with joy, excitement and comfort, even the smells were nostalgic! Finally! For the first time in my whole life, I found a dim sum spot in the Carolinas. As I walked in, I wasn't sure where to go. The staff were everywhere and I didn't see anyone at the cash register podium area. There were many people waiting in the waiting room and everyone was Asian. This made me feel at incredibly excited at the thought of good authentic dim sum and it also felt very comforting. I walked back over to the right to the podium cash register area when I saw a lady come back to her post. She asked how many? I told her "one," and she sat me immediately. As soon as I was sat, I ordered my green tea and water. Minutes later, two ladies with push carts filled with delicious dim sum came by. They were very nice and very helpful. I ended up getting Siu Mai, chinese broccoli, har gow, lo mai gai and cheung fun. The Cheung Fun was disappointing in the flavor department. I couldn't taste the shrimp at all. The Siu Mai tasted very good, but the texture of the dumpling wrapper wasn't good. It tasted overcooked with the crispy edges of the dumpling wrapper. The Har Gow was perfect! The lo mai gai was very good and the Chinese broccoli was cooked to perfection as well. All in all, I was pleased, but wished I could've had the chicken feet instead of the Cheung fun. I'm just ecstatic to finally have found a Dim Sum restaurant in the Carolinas. If I'm ever in town here again, I will definitely be coming back!

This is the best dim sum in the area, if not one of the best. I LOVE dim sum, and I've had my fair share of it. They are always busy so be sure to account for time if you go at peak time. The selection and prices here are decent, and the flavor is on point. The workers here are trilingual (English, Chinese but not sure which dialect, and Vietnamese) which is impressive. And the service speed is very reasonable compared to other dim sum places I've been to in the triangle that did not compare in flavor. They even have hot or cold soy milk (Asian style)!

Been here a couple of times now, always had an enjoyable experience. Hong Kong is set up in classic dim sum style, where the push cart comes around with fresh dim sum items and you just point at what you want (this is only on Saturdays & Sundays btw). We've tried a large variety of their items. My favorites are the stuffed crab claw, shrimp stuffed eggplant, taro with shrimp, turnip cake, and sesame balls. Fine ambiance, fast service. It's usually popping on weekends so be prepared for a wait. Very unassuming exterior but don't let that deter you from trying this place out. Dim sum is definitely something everyone should experience at least once and Hong Kong is a convenient and tasty place in Durham. 9/10 would recommend!

I was in town on a Wednesday afternoon and wanted a Dim Sum fix. A quick Google search lead me here and I was excited to try their food. I looked through their menu and determined they definitely had what I wanted. I was quickly greeted when I went inside and I informed the hostess that I would be ordering take-out. The inside was clean and staff were friendly. There were several tables eating and it wasn't too noisy. They seemed popular and there were other take-out orders in-process while I perused the menu. They have a regular menu and a dim specific menu. When I asked for the dim sum menu I was told to tally how many of each dish I wanted and it would be made fresh. After placing my order I was told the wait time and I went to wait in my car until it was ready (I had my dog with me and didn't want to leave her unattended for long.) I came back inside after 20 min and my food was already packed up and ready to go. Everything was fresh and smelled good. I ate a piece of each dim sum right away (shrimp dumplings I ate all of because I knew wouldn't it survive re-heating) and saved the rest for dinner after I went home to Virginia.I ordered:Steamed pork bunsShrimp DumplingsTurnip PuddingChive Dumplings (which also have shrimp in it)Steamed Pork Noodle RollsHong Kong Noodles with Pork (The hostess asked if I wanted shredded pork or roasted pork, I opted for roasted pork which is Char Siu)Hong Kong Roast duckI appreciated that the Hong Kong noodles were packaged in separate boxes so the sauce wouldn't make the noodles soggy on the drive home. They had the perfect crunch.Every dish tasted delicious and authentic and just what I remembered eating growing up. I will definitely be back for more whenever I'm in town.

5 stars to offset the bad reviews because this is the place you want to go eat dim sum! No, you're not going to get the best customer service ever but let's be honest, that's not why you're here - you want good dim sum and that's what you're going to get! You'll want to come in the weekend to get the full cart experience. On Saturdays it opens at 11am and Sundays at 10:30am, best get there early, even if you have to wait a bit you'll likely be the first ones to be seated. Otherwise you'll have to wait, but usually if you wait it isn't ever that long. The carts come around fast so be sure you know what you want because they move quick! I satisfy my dim sum craving every time I come here, it's a Durham classic!

This is one of the best dimsum place in the area. When I'm craving dimsum this is where I go! If you want to get a table at lunch on a Sunday, get there right when they open!! Or you'll have to wait for a table because it fills up fast! The servers walk around and pushing carts of various dishes to your table and ask if you want it. You can ask for a menu if you want other items like fried rice , etc. Very chilled and laid back!

THE BIG: Looks like a converted house and it's always crowded. Located right off of Guess Road. Parking can be tough and they have a lot located on site.THE BLACK AND WHITE: My wife and I came here on a Sunday right before it opened to get a takeout order to head to Winston. The ordering was pretty hectic as the receptionist was in the kitchen helping out. We ordered the dim sum staples: chicken feet, cheong fun, hargow, eggplant, Chinese broccoli, spare ribs, egg tarts and then a big dish, beef chow fun. Since this was a takeout order, we did wait an hour until we ate it and I can safely say that eating dim sum is better fresh. Regardless, the flavors were there, maybe a bit salty. The egg tarts is one of my gauge on how good the dim sum spot is and it was alright. I prefer more flakey crusts.THE FINAL BAMBOO: Ultimately the damage done was around $85 for a bunch of dim sum and a beef chow fun. Decent dim sum and worth a try if you're in the Durham area.

Growing up in a take out chinese restaurant myself - HK is very nostalgic for me, down to the quippy service and no frills eats. I would say that the take out isn't bad but not great either. I think it's better than others in the area. The rice isn't hard and the brown sauces are tasty. The dim sum - I would not partake lol. The interior is depressing but not in a "hole in the wall " charm if that makes sense. If you've just moved to the area from like an LA or a NY you'll be disappointed but for the area it's not bad. Worth a try for a rainy night in
